About the host

I'm a single mom to a 8yo boy. We travel a lot so i thought it would be worthwhile to post on vrbo when we are away. I am a retired anesthesiologist and now a stay-at-home mom and yes, being a mom is a lot more work than being a doctor. As a doctor, you get the next day or part of the next day off! A mom is on-call 24/7!
Why they chose this property
i left Los Angeles to raise my son close to family (in Fort Wayne and St. Louis) and also, because the cost of living is much more affordable in Fort Wayne. However, 2 years ago I moved to an even smaller town in Michigan. I love this house and couldn't let it go. Until our Michigan house is "fixed up," my son will continue to call this home our "home home."
What makes this property unique
i bought this house because it was brand new, never lived in and was ready to go! It was an easy decision because it is 1 mile from my brother's house, 1.5 miles to the freeway, and only 2 miles to the hospital. :)
It is also in an established area of Fort Wayne...Southwest Allen county which has great public schools, but at the same time, it is a new edition with houses still being built. In fact, since I have moved in 3 years ago, 20-25 new houses have been built! It's a pretty neighborhood and being called The Fountain, you can see a beautiful fountain as you drive into the subdivision. :)
Since moving in 2012, I have installed a black aluminum fence, small playset, purchased a small toddler pool/slide, and had an Amish-built 1000' sf 2-level 2-toned composite deck installed in the backyard. I also planted a pear, peach, and a couple of apple (Fuji/honeycrisp) trees. Lastly, I have 2 large garden boxes of produce in the backyard that I will try to maintain, even when I am away. My backyard faces east, so the backyard provides a great place for outside entertaining in the late afternoon/evening when the weather cooperates. :)
Since I have a 2-level deck, the bottom deck always stays cool even when it is hot. I am especially happy with the backyard. it is truly a fun place to entertain while keeping a decent amount of privacy.
