Really cute, cozy cabin surrounded by 40 acres with goats, donkeys, and more. We loved our stay and the hospitality of the host was greatly appreciated.

Very beautiful, very peaceful, and overall a great experience very genuine host very polite and respectful and always trying to help. They care about there guest.
We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The owners are very kind and friendly. Easy to check in and very accessible if we needed anything. The Donkeys and goats are entertaining. The locals good for exploring Boerne, Comfort, Guadalupe State Park and Fredericksburg. The AC worked great. This cabin is in the shade all day long so it is very comfortable sitting on the screened porch. The porch is a huge plus.
Although things with our booking didn't go as planned, we can't say enough good things about our hosts. They went above and beyond to make things right for us. If you're looking for a quiet getaway that gets you up close with nature you may want to book here.

I think your review's message got caught off... But regardless I think anyone reading it get's the right idea that we took good care of you at HomeWay Ranch. We enjoyed caring for you during your stay with us - Thank you for your preference and look forward to hosting you in the future:-)
We wanted a few days away from Houston and this was the right answer. It was so relaxing. It was wonderful to get up, drink coffee on porch, and watch the goats wander by.
Boerne is only 8 minutes away and it is a darling little town. Also Luckenbach is 30 minutes down the road if you want to hang with Waylon, Willie, and the boys.
The ranch is great and the hosts are very gracious and helpful. We got to feed the horses in the morning and there is a little playground on site.
Highly recommend staying at Home Away From Home Ranch.
We decided to stay here to be able to visit with our family. We love the area there so I rented the “Wildflower” cabin. The day we were to arrive, they messaged and said they “upgraded” us free of charge to a “newer, nicer” cabin (The Lonestar)for my birthday…which I thought was nice. However, it didn’t seem like a newer, nicer cabin. The couches were so worn they had attempted to cover them with covers which fell down every time you sat down. One window had no blinds at all (we found an old throw in a cabinet and tried to cover it with that). The blinds were not in good shape in general. There were no washcloths nor paper towels. We had to buy our own. The internet and tv did not work the whole time we were there except for 1 hour when we first arrived. The orginal cabin we rented had other people staying in it before we even left which was odd. From the looks online The Wildflower was larger at least and had a screened porch. On a positive note, The owners did stay in contact with us. I didn’t want to leave a negative review……… however I feel like they could improve some things there.

Wow. Thanks for "not leaving a negative review!" Yes we stayed in touch, and you always expressed that you were happy and having a great time (which you don't even touch on here?) You were so very pleasant, never once mentioned anything wrong with your cabin, much less not liking it nor asked for the items you now say you had to go buy... We live on the ranch 24/7 and are a call or text away as we love pleasing our guests... If you had told us you needed anything we would have brought it, or that you preferred a different cabin, you would have had 10 to pick from. Yes, it is true that the blinds in 1 window by the door were down because the guests' dog which had just checked out had destroyed the blind to look out when his owners left them in the cabin too long (can't blame him, really) we bougth the new ones but since you said you were fine we didn't want to bother you installing the new one., since it is on a 2nd story in the woods and no one could see in... But the offending blind was installed as soon as you checked out. it would have been so much better all the way around if you had let us know so we could have tried even harder to make your stay great - thats what we have done for the last 10 years, and our 500+ great reviews show it.
We booked the cutest little tiny & perfect “Butterfly” cabin with a loft that brought squeals of excitement from our two sets of twins (ages 6 & 8). We did all the activities on the ranch during our long weekend & left with fresh eggs that we plan to hatch!!! The amount of surprises & animals was completely unexpected. It’s truly a special place that takes amazing care of their animals & it shows. Right before we left we were able to see something completely amazing: 1 hour old twin Nigerian Dwarf goats still getting birth goop licked up by momma goat! This place is truly a great experience for kids!
The first night we did the night adventure hike & walked through splendid & quiet darkness, we were amazed at the tranquility & abundance of stars filling the sky. We found deer poop & learned about venomous spiders, & cacti while finding a live vulture looking down at us! We met super friendly donkeys & horses that didn’t want to leave us, they were so super friendly! Our kiddos were allowed to chase a couple of Emus (yeah, that’s not a sentence I ever expected to ever write in my life!), those things are so magestic it was amazing to see them running with such easy while our kiddos were so chaotic running behind them lol All this happened in the dark, really cool & such a unique experience!
The mornings were exciting because of the fresh eggs & lively chickens. There is a wonderful array of feathered friends that roam free with the goats through the day, greeting us randomly. We loved how all the animals were given so much free range & were so happy & super friendly! All these rescues truly found the best sanctuary, they are so well cared for!
The exotic bird adventure was so much fun, we got to interact with all the birds as they talked & walked all over us, all so very exciting!
Our labradoodle was able to run off-leash safely behind a huge fenced open space while our kiddos explored the grounds, finding bugs, bones & delighting their imaginations while mommy & daddy relaxed on our lawn chairs so happy for the down time!
We left with amazing memories & would recommend this ranch to anyone, especially to those with kids! Vicky & Micky were super accommodating to our constantly changing plans & worked on rearranging our schedules depending on kids’ needs. We kept constant communications via text & made sure we had everything we needed & had the most magical experience throughout our 3 night stay, especially with our random goat visits!
I have visited A Home Away From Home Ranch several times and it never disappoints! Whether I'm looking for a quiet getaway for myself, or to vacation with my family, it is our go to spot. This trip out was just an overnight with my four kids as we were visiting family in San Antonio and wanted to stay somewhere familiar and comfy. We've stayed in several of their cabins but this time we chose Butterflies. It was just what we needed - plenty of space for everyone to sleep comfortably, a cozy kitchen where we were able to enjoy a home cooked dinner and a hot breakfast, a screened in porch for late night card playing, and beautiful views all around. I did run into one issue when trying to book the cabin: I was trying to make a last minute reservation around 3pm on the day I wanted to check-in but VRBO did not offer this option. I messaged the owners with my request; they replied promptly and within the hour they had called VRBO to resolve the issue and I was able to complete the booking. And even with such short notice, we arrived to a tidy, well stocked cabin, complete with fresh linens and the thermostat set to a comfortable temp. Vicky and Micky are always a pleasure to visit. They are attentive, engaging, gracious hosts, and we will be returning to visit their ranch every chance we get. :)
The stove was broken so we had to cook our food in a rusted grill that was provided. We had to put all dirty towels in a Walmart plastic bags because we were only given one trash bag. The screened in porch the screens were broken and my husband had to fix the lock to the patio. This is not what I expected . I at least expected a stove that worked so we could of cooked our thanksgiving dinner and it wouldn’t of tasted like charcoal. All around stay was very disappointing. Definitely not worth the money I just lost .

To anyone reading this review,
Here are the facts which you can prove:
At HomeAway we have 10 cabins listed on VRBO as well as other sites, and for the past 8 years, we have been blessed with a nice average of 4.5 stars across all properties. You can read from hundreds of reviews thst we live on the nearly 40-acre ranch and enjoy giving our guests "TLC".
To this guest:
Your "review" was so sad:
- You knew we have folks on premise 24/7 to tend to all our guests' needs, we even knocked on your door to ask if you wanted eggs and how y'all were doing - your husband said EVERYTHIG WAS JUST FINE!
In fact, you all stayed here the whole time and for the last 5 days you have never once even hinted anything was not fine...
- YOU NEVER ASKED FOR TRASH BAGS nor anything else - not on vrbo nor in person. If you had, we would have just easily taken care of it in stride...
- In your mssg to me just now you said the OVEN DIDN'T LIGHT (not whole stove) - If pilot needed lighting we could have done so for you in 5 minutes - We could have even given you adorable, high tech The Cowboy Kitchen to use - But you never said a word... And we have dozens of grills all over the cabins area for anyone to use...
- The truth is that your big dogs broke the screens on the porch - thats why your husband tried to fix it and you never mentioned it while here... And now you use "attack as defense" for not paying for the damages your dogs made - which btw you only declared/paid for 1 dog...
In short, Teresa, it is sad that people like you make hosts afraid to rent their properties! But we will alert other hosts to beware of you.
Wonderful cabin on top of a small hill surrounded by lots of land to wander around on a private property that is fenced and very safe. During the daytime, lots of farm animals such as goats, chickens, roosters, a pig, donkeys, horses, and dogs wander around looking for food or someone to play with.
Mickey offers 4 optional activities: Horseback riding, Friendly Farm Animal Adventure, Exotic Birds Adventure, and a Night Hike. We did all 4 activities and enjoyed them all. Stock up on all your groceries at the local HEB-Plus in Boerne and you will be set for an extended stay here. My kids and I are looking forward to going back again to see what's new there. New animals I'm sure as the animal sanctuary is a 501-3c non-profit. The animals who get to live here are very lucky indeed.
The cabin had everything we needed. The kids had a lot of fun with all the animals (goats, chickens, horses, donkeys). The owner was very responsive to questions…and the horseback ride was worth it 😊

Wonderful cozy cabin
My girlfriend and I had a fantastic stay at this cozy cabin, Vicky and Micky prepared for us some roses, wine and a love card beautifully displayed on our room, I will always remember Betty's face when she saw the display when she stepped in the room; next day we rode Zeus and Montasha throughout the beautiful 30 acre ranch.
Thanks so much to Home Away from Home Ranch, we will be back soon.

Charming cabin for two
The cabin was clean and charmingly decorated in a butterfly theme, and the owners were very nice. My son enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. We enjoyed watching Netflix on the living room TV, but we could not locate a TV in the bedroom, nor could we locate a DVD player anywhere in the cabin. The sofa bed was broken, and the steps to the loft were very steep. The cabin was comfortable for two people, but I cannot imagine 8 people there. All in all, we enjoyed our trip, and I recommend visiting the historic bowling alley in Boerne, and the two local caves – Cascade Caverns and Cave Without a Name.

Do not miss the opportunity of a private dinner.
We came here for my daughter's birthday. The private dinner they made for us was unbelievable. It was one of the best dinners we have ever had. It was completely awesome how they catered to us.
The cabin we stayed at was accommodating for three people. It is not a fancy cabin but perfect for where we were at. The sleeping area upstairs is mainly for small to average people. We hope to come back and go horseback riding.

Excellent Experience
Our family of 6 plus a dog stayed here for 3 weeks while waiting to move into our new house. We absolutely loved the rustic environment. Our kids were outside everyday feeding the goats and horses and playing around instead of camped out in front of the TV. The best part of the whole experience was Micky and Vicki, these are 2 amazing people. We had a couple of minor problems in the first day and they bent over backwards to make sure we were taken care of and happy. It was great getting to know them and we now consider them friends. When friends and family come to town that won't fit in our house, this will be our first recommendation for them. Thank you so much Micky and Vicki, we need to schedule that dinner at our house soon.

Tiny cabin, beautiful setting
The host family was friendly and accommodating. While the grounds were effected by the recent floods, it was still picturesque. The cabin was smaller than expected and the additional charge for additional guests made the cost inappropriate for the accommodations provided. Allowing guests for only one night was a huge benefit. Fredericksburg was fun but I cannot imagine spending more than one night in the area. We did not eat on the grounds or participate in the activities but I am interested in returning for that purpose.

My husband and I have been VRBOers for many years. This property wasn't just an anniversary getaway for us - "Micky and Vicky" made it a celebration!
This cabin is one of several on a large, beautiful property. Whether you prefer a social B&B experience or a private getaway, adventure or peace, a weekend retreat or an extended stay, a large family gathering or a romantic event - this property has it all.
Miguel and Victoria love to spoil their guests. I felt like an absolute queen. Brunch was unbelievable. The food was fantastic, and the stories entertaining. Miguel and Victoria are kind, fascinating people. We left inspired (but never hungry!). Thank you, M & V!
