About this property

Oxford Holiday Cottage - Self catering, Mountain Views, 10 Acres

Oxford Holiday Cottage is a modern, two bedroom, self-contained, self catering cottage set on our 10 acre lifestyle block with mountain views in Oxford, North Canterbury, New Zealand. We have very friendly chickens and three steers on the property.

The cottage is lovely and warm - perfect for that weekend getaway, holiday, ski trip or when visiting family in Oxford. (Sleeps up to six). Now with fast WiFi!

The holiday cottage is modern & fully furnished to a high standard, it has a spacious open plan living area, two bedrooms & a bathroom. The cottage is cleaned to a high standard and we take the time to iron the bedsheets. Towels are also provided.

Due to previous issues WE NO LONGER ACCEPT BOOKINGS FOR BRIDAL PARTY GROUPS attending weddings or other wedding related events.

The cottage is lovely & warm with high levels of insulation, perfect for that winter getaway. There is plenty of firewood & the log burner can be lit for your arrival. There is a heat pump for heating or air conditioning. Check out our website for more information.

The kitchen is fully equipped - complete with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine, clothes dryer, tub, gas hot water, toaster, sandwich toaster, kettle - all you need for a relaxing break! Tea & coffee are provided & milk on arrival. Guests can use our BBQ on request.

The lounge area has a log burner, tv with freeview, dvd player & cd player/radio. Wi-Fi is available. Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside.

The main bedroom contains a queen sized bed, wardrobe, drawers & bedside cabinet. Sink into the feather pillows and enjoy a relaxing stay in the country!

The second bedroom contains a double bunk bed (double bottom, single top), single bed, large drawers & bedside cabinet.
The bathroom has a shower, toilet, hairdryer, heater & vanity.

There is an outside play area for children (slide, swings, fort, tyre swing, trampoline). A porta cot, baby bath and baby toys are available on request. You can feed the chickens, watch the cattle (3 steers). There are also goats, sheep, horses and a peacock in the neighbouring properties.

We don't allow domestic pets but we may be able to accommodate horses if you are attending an equestrian event in the area. Advance notice is required.

Close to Waimakariri golf course, Oxford & View Hill tennis courts, kayaking at the Waimakariri Gorge and Ashley gorge or Waimakariri River, hiking, mountain biking....

We are a great alternative to a Hotel, Motel or B&B with plenty of space inside and out! The fire will keep you toasty warm in winter, perfect after a day of skiing or snowboarding at Mount Hutt or Porters. The cottage is only 7 minutes drive from Oxford township.

Our house is 30 metres from the cottage. We also have a tiny house available (approx 12 metres from the cottage).
Relax & unwind, feed the chickens, watch the cattle, explore the forest & enjoy our little piece of paradise that is New Zealand!

A quaint self contained and well positioned cottage that allows immersion into country life with steers over the fence and chooks running around - great for a bit of entertainment! Obviously a well loved home which was very clean and comfortable. Very quiet and comfortable sleep.

Wonderful spot in rural inland Canterbury

Tons of space and all amenities make this house a wonderful place to stay. A very pleasant rural spot with nice mountain outlook. Friendly and very helpful owner. The house is immaculate and has everything needed for stay of any duration. Oxford township (restaurants, bars & galleries) is close, as is the Waimakariri Gorge. All up a great stay.

Absolutely perfect getaway with everything you'd need

We had an absolutely wonderful stay and regret we couldn't extend our stay there. We will definitely stay here again in the future if we happen to be in the area. It was clean, cozy and well kept and organized. The homeowners are super friendly and the small town of Oxford is just minutes away. Fantastic Stay

We stayed on two occasions recently and would rate our stays at six stars.Cottage was everything promised in the listing. Totally set up for cooking and relaxing. It was sparkling clean and nicely decorated. The welcome we received from Janette and her family made us feel special. Beautiful location

Janette and Simon have a magic little spot with glorious glimpses of mountain ranges. We loved our stay in the cottage. It was so cosy with the wood stove and cooking facilities were great. Perfect location to do what we wanted which is walk in the forests and view the mountains. Oxford is a lovely town for coffee and meals. Great Art Gallery there. Good supermarket.

Why they chose this property

We enjoy the peace and quiet of rural life and the mountain views. The star gazing is amazing here! (Oxford Forest is a Dark Sky Reserve). The supermarket is approximately 5 minutes drive away, so grabbing essentials is not a problem. Christchurch city is just a 45 minute drive away as is Porters Ski area and Castle Hill.

What makes this property unique

Mountain views, very friendly chickens and cattle to watch. We are set back from the main road and have plenty of space for children to enjoy the outdoors. There is an outside play area for children. We live in a separate house on the property and are happy to help with anything during your stay.
