Edie and Jeff were fantastic host! You could really tell that their hearts are really in hosting. The property was clean and fully functional. The unit is right next to the main house, but the main house did not bother or interfere with our stay. The unit was so comfortable and perfect for our weekend getaway. If we are ever back in the area we would love to stay here again! Thanks again Edie and Jeff!
The property exceeded our expectations. This secluded oasis had everything we needed. Close to shopping and eating. Amenities were excellent. Highly recommend.

Adorable place to stay
Absolutely adorable place to stay. Tucked away and quiet but still close enough drive to get to everything.
Place was clean and renters extremely welcoming and wonderful to communicate with.
My husband, myself and 8 year old son stayed for a few days to go to an LSU baseball game and just explore around Baton Rouge. Great location and so peaceful at the house. Comfy beds, and we loved being visited by the owners pet cat, Pinky and dog, Georgia! We will definitely be back!

Christmas visit
Excellent experience. Edie and Jeff are top notch hosts going above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The place was very clean and the grounds were beautiful. Bed very comfortable and heat worked fine. Will definitely book here in the future.
We absolutely loved this charming early 1800s home! The property is so peaceful and beautiful. It was such a great stop on our road trip. I may have missed this when I booked the place but the only thing that was challenging was there was no kitchen which was just not ideal with little kids. Had it just been me and my husband, it wouldn’t have mattered at all. Even with that factor I’d stay here again as a family, it was beautiful and the hosts who live on the property were lovely.
We stumbled upon a true hidden gem! Jeff and Edie, the gracious hosts, went out of their way to make sure our stay at their place was nothing short of delightful. Their warm welcome and attentive service made us feel right at home. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Enjoyed our stay at the sugar house. The quaint home was clean and comfortable. The hospitality of Jeff and Edie was great. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything one could need. The home was stocked with any imaginable item one could need.
Information and directions were provided to any place you wanted to go. Very well equipped.
I'm glad I took my time searching VRBO for the perfect place to stay because I found it. The hosts were wonderful. Edie is lovely and so accommodating. If you're like me and appreciate all things old like trees and houses and ever wondered if the walls could talk you'd love it. The scenery and sounds are breathtaking and the spanish moss is my favorite. We will be making many visits over the next few years to visit our Lil' LSU Tiger! I don't want to stay anywhere else now.
It was unclean when We got there the neighbor/gardner was rude when we told him we were lost could not get anyone to answer phone or door bell all while a big dog wouldn’t stop barking all of this after have driven all night 12 hrs need a bed to rest
I, my two children, and my mom were visiting an elderly relative in Baton Rouge. This VRBO was such a perfect place. There was room for the children to run, we didn't share walls with anyone so they could be a little loud, and we learned all about the organic farm. The host family was lovely and welcoming (including the dog and very affectionate cat). The beds were cozy and the nights were quiet. Two notes for future guests: the water has a distinct sulfur smell, so fill a water bottle for water overnight, and the kitchen is minimal. The latter was no big deal because part of the point of our trip was to eat, but this isn't a good VRBO if you plan to do any significant meal prep.
Edie met us as we pulled into the drive and showed us to our room, explaining where everything was and let us know she was right across the way at the main house if we needed anything. Parking was super convenient and walking through the arched entry hall into the garden courtyard on the path to our room was rather ethereal. The owner is close enough to be convenient if anything is needed, but the manner in which it is set up gives guests privacy and a sense of being in your own little world. Love the historic feel! (The old screen door did it for me). The grounds are beautiful and the pond and natural gardens near the room are so peaceful. 10 minutes from everything but you'd never know it!
Super comfy mattress and pillows, more than sufficient hot water (hard to find in an historic rental), and pretty much everything we needed was provided. We're looking forward to staying at the Sugar House again!

There were some hiccups
I loved the property and the kitty that visited. The room had some issues. The air conditioner seemed to be acting up during the day and would stay at 78 when air was set to 74, but at night it would kick in get the room to the programmed temp so that was good. One of the sinks didn't work and only drips of water would come out of it. The hot water had a terrible sulfur smell so we were unable to shower while there. We told the hosts so I am sure they took care of the issues before the next guest.

Hi Tracy, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following: Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, our service providers were limited, however, as things began opening up, we were able to get the air conditioner serviced, the water heater replaced, and the pipes flushed. Thanks for letting us know about your stay!
The property itself was a beautiful, charming, southern oasis. The lush grounds and peaceful setting make you forget you are literally minutes from LSU and downtown BR. The house is tucked back from the nearby road, and it was blissful waking up to the sounds of birds and the beautiful sunlight streaming in the windows in the room. I could go on forever about how wonderful our stay was! I can't wait to come back! <3
It was a perfectly, lovely home and great communication with owners. Super clean and sweet. Met all out needs!! Great hot water that lasted through all 5 of us! We would likely stay again. My only preference for change is I would have liked to have been able to load the dishwasher and start it right before we left (they state to wash and put away all dishes). Bring paper cups and plates for breakfast if you don’t want to have to hand wash and dry things as you leave but be able to eat and drink. Absolutely still a 5 star review and a personal preference for me.
We had a little weekend getaway here. The property was beautiful, the hosts were very gracious & helpful, & it was close to all of our needs. We would definitely stay here again!
