Property comes as advertised. Paula is excellent to communicate with and checked in the make sure we had everything we need. The fishing was great and the water was the clearest I have seen it. We already have a return trip in a couple of months.
Cute and cozy cottage! Loved the whole experience. The eggs, biscuits and jelly was such a kind added touch. The host was always responsive to all our needs. Would highly recommend!
This is such a lovely cottage. Everything you need for a wonderful stay. Very clean. Great beds and bedding ! Wonderful towels and amenities! Fishing was great. Enjoyed day trips to Gilmer and Pittsburg !
This was an excellent place to stay out in the country while visiting NE Texas. We really enjoyed our stay w/ 3 kids (9, 6, 4) and one elderly. The house is cute and well-appointed with everything you need for your stay. The private pond is beautiful and close to the house, but not TOO close (FYI if you have really little ones). There were 2 rowboats and a canoe which we enjoyed. We saw fish moving though didn't catch any ourselves. Paula the host was extremely helpful and responsive. Just a couple of things to be aware of: 1) the loft with twin bed is up a ladder and not a good choice for small children or adults without sufficient strength and coordination. This means you really have just two bedrooms (one king, one queen I believe), plus the pull-out couch. Also 2) Pittsburg is pretty far out from Longview, Tyler (35 min-1 hr), etc and on country roads - it's lovely and quiet but some people might want to be closer to town, or not want to drive on the winding roads at night. Overall though it's a very nice place, good value and with a wonderful host.

Thank you again for your stay and for taking the time to leave a review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. I am glad you brought up the loft. We do not advertise it or include it in our description because we feel it is a very limited space. Not good for the young or old but teens and pre-teens love it. It sounds like you missed the trundle beds on the sun room which is two separate twin beds...one pulls out from below the other. Those two twins on the sunroom can serve as a third bedroom. You found the sofa bed in the living room though which we also don't advertise as it is inconvenient without much privacy when others are up. Glad you were resourceful! Thank you again for your feedback.
The Pine Grove Cottage is a great escape to enjoy being in the country and fishing a private lake! The inside is clean and beds comfortable! We caught lots of small bass, but my husband lost a couple of big ones. We enjoyed the town if Winnsboro that was close by, good restaurants and shopping! Paula is a great host and helpful through our entire stay!

Our stay at Pine Grove Cottage was excellent! Paula was the most gracious host that we have had the pleasure of meeting ad the cottage was very clean and neat. The fishing was excellent which is what we went for and we have made plans to visit again next year.
The perfect getaway!! Great location, pure peace and quiet. Paula is a great host, check in was a breeze. The property has everything you could possibly need, literally a home away. We both enjoyed everything and look forward to returning!
The Pine Grove Cottage was fantastic. It is such a a cozy place but at the same time all the room you need. The property is unbelievably well kept. The fishing at the pond is awesome. It is a great place to get away to and relax. The Acher's are such sweet and accommodating host. This is a wonderful place.
We consider this as a home away from home. So relaxing not a room in house where there not somewhere to stretch out and relax. You need something Paula takes care of it. They make you feel like family. Love it.
Had a nice and relaxing visit. Paula was very nice and had everything in great shape. We enjoyed the scenery and fishing and just spending time together as a family. We recommend it highly!
Highly recommend this property. Nice and quiet get away. The loft is accessible by a small ladder, so not ideal for everyone, other than that, this property is great for a family getaway. Owners are very nice and very accomodating!
Beautiful area close to the lake for a relaxing, reading, and fishing. Well maintained lake with excellent bass fishing opportunities. The host Paula does what gives the full meaning of hospitality.
Everything was perfect, fishing was great, very peaceful stay. Only thing is I wish I had longer to stay, we could have stayed all week instead of a weekend!!
Another great experience at Pine Grove, peaceful and relaxing. The house stayed cool in the heat and the trees provided plenty of shade. The fishing was excellent as we caught over 40 fish in 3 days. And don’t miss the opportunity to interact with Paula and Jim. They are very nice people and very f you need anything just ask.

Why they chose this property
We love the beauty of the area and the wonderful community of small town friends and neighbors. We moved to East Texas more than 20 years ago. After living in 'town' (Pittsburg TX) for 10 years we bought the ranch and fixed up Pine Grove Cottage for our weekend getaway. We loved staying there so much we sold our home in the city and moved to Pine Grove Cottage while we began plans for a new home on another corner of the property. During this time we needed more room for family and friends so we added Spring House on still another corner of the ranch. In 2005 our home was completed and we moved out of Pine Grove Cottage. We decided to offer both Pine Grove and Spring House on VRBO at that time so others could share in the beauty and fun of the ranch. We were so pleased with the wonderful guests that visited, we have added a third VRBO guest apartment and a Bed & Breakfast to allow larger groups to stay. In 2011 Paula's sister and brother-in-law moved to the area and purchased Spring House as their private residence. Our positive experience with vacation rentals led us to replace the property with a brand new one, Lakeside Cottage, which we built and opened for business in 2012. We often host extended families looking for a retreat, wedding parties and multiple families who want to come together to visit. Now we can accommodate all. Our return rate is very high and many of our guests have come to view the ranch as their own special place in the country...without all the hard work!
Update: In 2022 we realized it was time to downsize now that we are in our 70's and 80's. We now offer only one property as a vacation rental and that is our beloved Pine Grove Cottage with it's own 4 acre stocked pond.
What makes this property unique
Relaxation in a beautiful country setting with all the amenities of home. A wonderful opportunity to observe nature and to fish for bass and bream.
