Built-in the Forties this Grand Avenue apartment building has only 6 units. The fully furnished studio apartment is spacious Clean & functional. 5 windows full of light, a spacious kitchen, and a full bathroom. All put together with you, our precious guests in mind. lovely residential area walks to shops, grocery, pharmacy, clinic, restaurants, cafes, parks, and plenty more. The bus stops at SF, Berkeley, and neighboring cities are a few blocks. Great location, accommodation & value.
We are located between Safeway Grocery store and Grand Lake Theather.
Piedmont Avenue, Lakeshore Avenue, and Grand Avenue are all within walking distance. PLEASE NOTE THE $ 300 PET FEE

This is a great property if you have pets and are looking for a comfortable place to stay in a great location. Everything was clean and in working order with a well stocked kitchen. You do get food aromas on occasion coming from other units. It was never offensive and I appreciated different spice aromas as I walked through the hall to my studio. If you need luxury, hotel eucalyptus oil wafting through ventilation and updated decorating, look elsewhere. Everything is walkable although some hill walking may be required if you want to take a shortcut to Lakeshore Ave. You are near a post office, Safeway, Trader Joe's, banks, yoga studios, Noah's bagels, Philz Coffee, florists, a bookstore, many restaurants and Grand Lake Movie Theater. What I appreciated: a parking space, I felt safe, the shared washer and dryer in the basement although quarters are required, the comfort of having my pup with me and the ease of taking him outside.

Basic Sublet in Great Location

I stayed at this property for about 5 weeks in between living situations. The location is incredible - right off Grand Ave, near Lake Merritt, and walking distance to other neighborhoods and parks. The apartment is very basic - plain, minimal furniture, and the decorations are old and awkward. There were a lot of missing kitchen items that I was able to quickly get from the building manager but they should've been there from the start. There's decent natural light although the window just looks out at a building along a quiet alley. The building is fairly quiet but there's lots of transit / other subletters, so it's probably dependent on who else is staying while you are there. Overall, the place was tolerable and did the job but I wouldn't rent again since it's not worth the price for how minimal and uninviting the place is.

If you did not like the place and the accommodation, why then did you request to stay additional 2 weeks? And how come you did not write the free nights that you squeezed from us? You have been too demanding your whole stay. Please read the review of the next guest, that stayed right after you left. The same accommodation but a different review. The guest left a good review with tips. Keeping Hope Alive!

Basic studio apartment (not a vacation rental)

The host is extremely nice but this property consists of five studio apartments on the second floor. Mine was on the narrow driveway that leads to treacherous parking behind the building, and noises reverberated up from the driveway. Not a good place for your dog. A homeless person slept on the porch of the adjoining insurance agency. The Location is good.

The apartment is in a great location. Wonderful restaurants nearby. Lake Merritt. The parking was great. The owner was very responsive to our requests. The only complaint was the WiFI was unstable. I needed it for work so it was a problem when it quit in mid conference call.

Great location, comfortable lodging

This was our second time staying in the building. The host is very warm and welcoming. If you enjoy the Lake Merritt area as we do, the location is ideal. We left our car in the parking place and walked to our daughter’s apartment. The bed is good and the apartment is surprisingly quiet for being off of a busy street.

Comfortable and welcoming Grand Lake studio

My husband and I had a very nice stay at the Grand Lake studio. It is situated off of Grand Avenue, providing easy walking access to a fun neighborhood and Lake Merritt (it will be even more fun post-pandemic!). The studio is removed enough from the busy street, so it was quiet. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, cups, cutlery, and basic pots and pans. The double bed is comfortable, and there are two couches as well as a kitchen table for seating. The host, Welela, was gracious and welcoming. She met with our daughter ahead of time so she could view the studio, and throughout our month-long stay responded promptly and generously to every question or request we had. We look forward to staying there again next time we visit our daughter in Oakland.
