An absolutely amazing experience that we will never forget!
John and Christine were the most incredible hosts! We were lucky enough to visit when they were at the property. My kids and I have dreamed about seeing sea turtles and John arranged for us to go down the beach to release baby turtles the day we arrived. The beach is amazing, we were the only ones on it. Playa Tesoro is a hidden gem and we will be back. Such a beautiful experience with beautiful people. Thank you John and Christine

It is indeed wonderful to know you had a good time. Sometimes we feel like Playa Tesoro is the Shangia-la of Nicaragua. A journey through the jungle to a paradise. The journey off the paved highway can be smooth and can be rough, depending upon the schedule of municipality road grading, and the rain intensity. A famed journey through the rough terrain to an oasis of coconut trees, lovely beach, privacy, great swimming, and nice homes. It was a pleasure to have you at Playa Tesoro, Nicaragua. For over 20 years, we are always spending money on road upgrades. And the government is working away on the drainage and road upgrades as well. Together the road issue gets better year by year. But once at Tesoro, indeed it is amazing.
Lovely beach property. We stayed 5 nights while it was very hot. 97F It took over 24 hrs to cool the home down when we arrived, but the AC units and ceiling fans worked very well. The home is remodeled modern. It was perfect for our stay. I enjoyed cooking on an open fire every evening. We brought all of our food supplies with us.
The beach is miles long with no one around.. we found a live sea horse, a dead puffer fish and 2 dead sea turtles. The ocean water is warm. Really great place. I highly reccomend you to stay here if you are looking for a beautiful remote beach property that has all yer needs covered.

Incredible spot! So nice!
Incredibly beautiful area and nice casitas. The house was super comfortable, great food and environment there at Playa Tesoro. Roberto and his helper took great care of us, and were over the top considerate. The Mangrove tour was breathtaking at night and a real treat by Roberto. Next time, we'll skip the grocery store and just eat at the restaurant. Partying by the pool under the stars was pretty amazing too. Having Leon closeby was nice too.
About the host
Hosted by John and Geoff Bramwell
Outdoor oriented brothers whom set off in 2004 to find a good surf break on a quality beach to build a nice surf shack. And thus avoid the North America January cold. After a furious search, we settled at this beach in Nicaragua and named it Playa Tesoro. After 20 years work, we have a best in country, fully private fresh water system. And an electrical system that works well with private ownership of all the equipment. In Canada, we have over 40 years as business partners in construction. Come see this awesome 3 kilometers of beach spread over 204 acres, in the friendly country of Nicaragua.
Why they chose this property
Playa Tesoro is a great swim beach with warm, shallow, salty water. You have 7 miles of beach all to yourself. All sand, no rocks, no garbage, no people, no logs, no rocks. Just turtles, birds, fish. And a few well built homes.
Nicaragua is a great country full of wonderful people. This is a very peaceful, secure, beautiful country. Leon city is the university town of Nicaragua with 11 universities, many language schools, good music and strong arts community. Also, the second oldest town in all the Americas behind Panama city, so there is amazing architecture. The people are warm, peaceful and kind. In summary, Leon is a safe, intelligent, artistic, friendly community that is welcoming and interesting. Leon state and area has a vast array of intriguing places to visit and enjoy on day trips as well.
What makes this property unique
Even in Nicaragua, this property is unique because it is nestled between the Pacific Ocean and a 24 mile fresh water river in the back. Playa Tesoro is the ultimate swim beach as it is all sand, gentle waves and warm water. The river is absolutely pristine, with absolutely no person on it. No garbage, no bottles, nothing but fish and birds. The beach is 7 miles long and we ride dirt bikes from one end to the other at sunset seeing nobody, just turtles. Yet, the second largest city in Nicaragua is a mere 45 minutes away.
Playa Tesoro is 45 minutes from the second largest city in Nicaragua, called Leon. Leon is a 500 year old architectural jewel in the rough. Leon has an amazing array of 400 year old mud/straw homes, 14 churches and 11 universities. Leon has a lively arts community. Our beach and beach accommodation is the best in Leon.
