About this property

Shepherd's Lea - luxury stay

Nothing says country like opening your door to green paddocks and fresh air! Shepherd's Lea really does offer the best of town and country stays - it is set in one of Old Bowral's premier streets, opposite picturesque fields in which you will often see grazing cows. The street is a quiet cul-de-sac so we ask you to respect the neighbours and enjoy the peace and quiet yourselves.

The house itself is architect -designed and has been purpose styled and furnished for the holiday market with style and comfort in mind. It is filled with soft light, lots of luxury inclusions including quality linen and towels, is decorated in a soft pastel palette and best of all, there is space for everyone. The oversized formal living area has an equally large TV, a cosy gas fireplace and gorgeous picture windows, with vistas to country paddocks. Imagine yourself curled up on the sofa with a glass of red, chatting to friends in this relaxing environment. For family get-togethers, there is a large open plan kitchen-dining-living area that flows seamlessly to a sunbathed BBQ courtyard and another separate sunny deck.

The double garage with internal access and the separate cottage both provide great break-out areas. Table tennis and games are offered in the nicely set up garage area - effectively creating a third large living area/rumpus. The cottage has a separate queen bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living room with 4th TV and underfloor heating. The cute split barn doors are a throwback to its original life as the stables. It has a good well set up kitchenette so its occupants can choose to be self-sufficient or join the rest of the guests in the main house.

Shepherd's Lea is sensationally located on the outskirts of the original old Bowral town, so is walking distance or a very short drive to galleries, Bradman Oval, Museum and the International Cricket Hall of Fame, Corbett Gardens, boutique shopping, cafes and restaurants. It is also a short drive to the Bowral Golf Club and the Bowral Country club and wedding venues along Centennial Drive, including Centennial Vineyards and Gibraltar Resort.

Overall great stay !!!
Thanks for offering your place for us to stay. Beautiful place and peaceful surroundings. Loved our stay The cottage was used only for one night but it was hot as there was no air-conditioning but we were fewer than expected people so used the main house. Our phone reception was poor and at times we got txt messages the next day but its the area I guess. Overall good management, prompt response and wonderful place Thanksssss

Large house with lovely garden
We were fortunate to have beautiful, warm weather during our stay, which gave us the opportunity to make the most of the lovely lawn area out the front of the house for a weekend of garden games and outdoor picnics. There was ample shade under the trees, so it was easy to set up some tables and chairs for drinks and snacks. The house was large and comfortable for a group of 10, with a well-sized dining table that seated all of us comfortably for main meals. The lounge room in particular was stylishly appointed and a well set-out space where we could all retire after dinner (enough seating for 10 people), and also relax in during the day - reading a book / playing board games by the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the trees (a very tranquil outlook). One room that could do with some improvements is the kitchen. While large and spacious, it was missing a lot of everyday utensils and basics e.g. we purchased our own dishwashing sponge and gloves for the sink. Also, the dishwasher was placed in a most unusual position. When open, it was impossible to transfer freshly washed items into the adjacent drawers as the open dishwasher door blocked them from opening. Therefore, every dishwasher cycle involved double the time and double the unstacking. Might be a good idea to rearrange where the mugs/plates are stored for future stays. We also noticed that some areas of the house could do with some extra maintenance to really deliver a 5 star experience. E.g. Clearing cobwebs in the most of the windows and front entryway, cleaning the outdoor table and chairs before guests arrive (more cobwebs) so we can focus on settling in and enjoying the back courtyard upon arrival. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. There was a generous supply of toilet paper, hand wash and shampoo/conditioner, but oddly no body wash. Also worth mentioning that we could not get the TV working for the first night / day, but luckily after getting in touch with the host a technician was promptly sent out to fix it within a couple of hours. Overall there were some very nice touches and decor throughout, and the layout of the house was fantastic for a large group. The front lounge room and front garden really add that Southern Highlands touch. It would be even better if the small touches were consistent in all rooms and the maintenance was done more regularly. Luckily the place is in an excellent location, close to shops yet still in a quiet and leafy street.

Lovely house in great location
We booked the house for a weekend away with friends and it was everything we hoped for. Good location, spacious, tastefully decorated rooms, well equipped, comfortable beds and most importantly for a cold winter weekend, lovely and warm.
