We hope you will visit our family-friendly vacation home on Maryland's Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The home includes a private dock on the magnificent Wye River, with access to all of the many activities it affords, including water skiing, crabbing, and fishing. Situated on a peaceful 3/4 of an acre in a quiet neighborhood with easy access from Baltimore, Washington and Annapolis, this is a wonderful place to get away.
Looking for things to do? Play golf at nearby Queenstown Harbor, shoot some sporting clays at Pintail Point, or shop at the Queenstown Outlets. If you have access to a boat, take a ride down to Wye Island Natural Resource Management area for hiking and swimming. Read a book in the hammock, or sip a cocktail on the dock.
Have a boat? Bring it along and tie up! The low tide water depth is 2.5 feet though, so larger boats are better off anchoring in the deeper cove across the river.
The house sleeps 11, but with only two full bathrooms it is best suited for groups of up to six adults plus children.

Quiet neighborhood, easy access to the river, nice backyard for young kids, loved the swing, could have been cleaned a bit more, outside landscaping, grass, dock area growth needed some attention. Overall a good stay.
My wife and I had a amazing stay at this wonderful house, very clean and full of amenities love the water views of the river and the host was very friendly and responsive on e-mails ant texts.Thank you for your hospitality
We rented the house for commissioning week at USNA. The house exceeded our expectations and was plenty spacious enough. We enjoyed using the back porch and water toys in the evenings.
This property is excellent for family or friend gatherings. It has plenty of bedrooms and beds for many people. The location on the Wry River is great for boating and other water interests and the owners and most helpfull. I would come back here again and recommend it anytime.
My Aunt lives around the corner from you -in Governors Way North - section 1. we had a great ceremony Saturday -loved your home and would be a great place to retire.

We were in town for a wedding. Nine adults. The house was beautiful, spacious and comfortable. The owner John was very responsive. I had a few questions and he answered them right away to our complete satisfaction. We will be back.

Wye River rental
The house was in a beautiful location. Plenty of bedrooms and baths. It was advertised as having cable tv which it did not so ads should be revised. Game room was in an awkward spot but we didn’t intend to use it anyway.

Bev, that was my fault. We switched some time ago from cable TV to streaming/Roku. That was explained in the house information file we sent you, but I'd forgotten it was also listed on the website. Thank you for letting me know, and I'm glad you enjoyed the house.
Thoroughly enjoyed this house. Beautiful location for inlet.
It did look like there were a LOT of jellyfish in the water off the dock but that may not be a regular occurrence. Regardless we didn't let that stop us from sitting on the seats of the dock and relaxing with the beautiful view across the water.
Really comfortable and well appointed house. Would love to come back.
Gorgeous house for nature lovers! We so enjoyed the screened-in porch and dock for coffee, and the beautiful neighborhood for morning walks. Nearby shopping, kayak adventures, and restaurants made this ideal for hanging with teens/ college kids before everyone dispersed back to school. This house offered so much we could not possibly have taken advantage of all of it! The extra room upstairs would be ideal for kids to hang without grownups. The house had everything you could possibly need plus relaxed vibe. Thanks for sharing your beautiful place!
The property offers pretty much everything you will need for a family summer vacation. Water access, space for the grandchildren to play outside (the rope swing is great) and comfortable accommodations. The neighborhood is quiet and safe for the kids to ride bikes and the location on the Wye River was perfect for everything from fishing to water sports. We even caught crabs off the dock. We were happy to find that there was a 1/2 bath in the laundry room not mentioned in the property detail. It was very convenient. Check in and check out were simple and John was quick to respond to any questions we had. We could have done without the bay nettle jellyfish, but the baby pool saved the day for the kids. The Wi-Fi was adequate for our needs with both sons able to log on and work remotely. The kitchen was equipped to cover everything from baking brownies to steaming our crabs. We highly recommend this property on the Wye River.
Two couples spent a four day weekend at this comfortable, family friendly home. Very nice family eastern shore property that has been well lived in and cared for. Campy and Comfy! The living room very comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped with good pots and pans. Hot showers with good water pressure. Plenty of bedroom space and beds reasonably comfortable. We had great weather but plenty of cards and games for rainy weather. Nice location to explore much of the eastern shore. Great quiet neighborhood. Loved it, recommend it and would definitely rent it again!
Guests were attending a remote control sailboat regatta in Queenstown, MD fifteen minutes from our VRBO home. Kitchen, dining and ample relaxing areas were the outstanding features as well as the waterfront view of the Wye River headwaters. One of our guests caught 13 little perch at 6:30 am fishing off the dock.
The pictures do not do the property justice- the river view is tranquil and very beautiful. Even though we were there on a cold rainy weekend, we spent as much time as we could sitting on the dock, playing in the grassy yard, and pushing our kids on the rope swing. The house was spacious, incredibly clean, and well-heated. The beds were super comfortable, and the showers/ water pressure was great. The game room was somewhat oddly situated off of a master bedroom on the second floor (through a small door and a narrow hallway), but otherwise the house was very conveniently set up. About a 20 minute drive from Sandy Point State Park, and 35 minutes from St. Michaels. We hope to return again soon!
Everyone in our group ... loved the property. We had a wonderful time staying and attending the St. Michael's Sea Glass Festival. Would love to find a reason for another weekend or week stay in warm weather !!!
We stayed 2 months at this property and we enjoyed every moment!! This house is awesome for its views, access to the water, its comfort and amenities. John and Karen are very gracious hosts. We will come back again. Thank you!

About the host
Hosted by John Hardie
We are a family of five that live in the Washington DC area. We all love the water. John grew up in Maryland and spent much of his youth boating on the Severn River. Karen's family lived on a bayou in Louisiana, where she learned to sail, ski and fish.
Why they chose this property
Before the children arrived, Karen and John owned a boat and spent many weekends exploring the rivers of the Chesapeake Bay. We always preferred the quiet waters of the Bay's Eastern shore, and without question the Wye River was always our favorite. Its natural beauty is breathtaking, and the smooth water is ideal for skiing and tubing.
When we decided to look for a vacation property, we both knew it had to be on the Wye. We wanted a home that was not fancy or elaborate, but comfortable and clean. And most importantly, we wanted a home with ample room for our friends and our children's friends. We are delighted with our choice.
What makes this property unique
The large shaded back yard provides a wonderful respite from the summer heat.
Our close proximity to Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis make for a easy day trips.
