About the home

"Sandy at Cowes" has two dwellings on the one property, the front one called "Sandy" and the back one called "The Shack". Some of the many features of these delightful homes are detailed below:

Indoor Areas

“Sandy”, the front house, is a newly renovated home. The front Sitting Room flows into a large open plan Kitchen/Dining Room (with smart TV and DVD player) and provides access to Bedroom 1, featuring BIR and and ensuite (with shower, bath & toilet), Bedrooms 2 and 3 (each with BIR), and the main Bathroom/Laundry (with separate toilet & shower, washing maching & clothes dryer). Adjoining the Kitchen/Dining area is the Lounge/TV Room (with 75" smart TV) complete with large window seat, and flows out through stacker doors to the covered deck.

“The Shack”, the back cottage, has two bedrooms, one bathroom (with shower), a separate toilet and a fully equipped laundry with washer and dryer. You will also find a large open plan kitchen/dining/living room (with smart TV).

Outdoor Areas

The rear covered deck on "Sandy" flows out to an open Deck (with BBQ and table & chairs for 8), overlooking the enclosed rear yard (with basketball ring) which is perfect for children. The side of the home provides space for two cars, with additional parking for up to two more vehicles (cars and/or a boat) at the front of the property. There is a hot/cold water outdoor shower adjacent to the covered deck on "Sandy" and there is another deck and outdoor cold water shower adjacent to "The Shack".

Kitchen

Both homes have a fully appointed kitchen, equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, microwave, toaster, kettle, etc. plus a double sink, fridge, dishwasher, electric oven and cook top.

Heating/Cooling Systems

There is good natural cross ventilation with a touch panel controlling 6 high window panels. There are also four wall mounted reverse cycle air conditioners; three in "Sandy" (Sitting Room, Lounge/TV, and Bedroom 1) and one in “The Shack”, plus three ceiling fans in "Sandy" (Sitting Room, Lounge/TV, and Covered Deck). Bedrooms 4 and 5 have small heaters for the winter months, and there is also a Coonara style wood heater in the Lounge/TV Room (some wood provided to get you started).

Bedding Configuration

This home has 8 beds, accommodating up to 11 guests:

"Sandy":
Bedroom 1: One King bed
Bedroom 2: One Queen bed
Bedroom 3: One Set of Single bunks and One King Single bed

"The Shack":
Bedroom 4: One Queen bed
Bedroom 5: One Set of King Single bunks

Linen

It is common in the region for some linen to be provided for bookings, and some linen to be available as an optional extra. By default, a booking at this home does not include optional linen (top & bottom sheets, bath towels and pillowcases). What is included are doonas (quilts) with covers, pillows without covers, tea towels, hand towels and bathmats. If you would like the optional linen included in your booking, please let us know, including which beds you would like it provided for. The additional cost would be a one-off charge of $30 per bed (some sites add a service fee to these costs) - and we prefer 7 days' notice prior to your arrival to get that arranged.

Peak Periods

Please note that during the peak summer period and other peak times, check in times are set as 3pm (unless by prior arrangement). Please also note that if you avail of the optional linen hire over these times, it may involve linen being left out but beds not being made up.

Functions, Celebrations and Schoolies

Please note that the home is not suitable for celebrations, parties or large events. The home also does not take bookings over Schoolies.

Quiet, comfortable, lovely stay
House was so close to a quiet beach that we went every day. A nice walk along the beach to Cowes shops. Beds were very comfortable and plenty of space for the dogs to run around in the garden (front fence might be a bit low if you have dog prone to escaping). A great range of beach games available to use (we had a great time playing beach cricket and volleyball). Communication was very quick and easy with managers. Noticed the second bedroom in the Shack doesn't have curtains to block out the skylight. It was a nice relaxed family holiday, would love to come back.

Perfect family getaway
Amazing location and ideal stay for two small families with the two properties on the one large, shady block. Perfect for a summer getaway. We stayed with 3 small children and our fur babies too and it was perfectly catered for. Location is amazing, a 3 min walk to a lovely quiet beach. This will become a regular holiday for our family now.

We enjoyed our stay but the fly screens were not insect proof and AC did not blow cool air.
Nicely renovated shacks with modern and clean facilities and comfy beds. Large deck and shady trees really make for a lovely outdoor feel. However the fly screens in the front shack were not insect proof and the place filled with bugs on hot nights when we wanted to get the benefit of the evening breeze. Also, the AC in the front shack did not blow cool air. Get these basic things fixed and it’s all good. One last note - the rear yard is not fully fenced to be able to keep a dog in.
