This architecturally designed modern beach house offers the sounds of the surf and stunning panoramic views of Skenes Creek beach and Apollo Bay. As the sun sets the lights of Apollo Bay are seen from the huge entertaining deck. Ocean views are seen from every room. The tranquil bush setting attracts the local wildlife including kookaburras and koalas. A gentle stroll of approximately 200 meters has you on the surf beach at Skenes and less than 5 minute drive to Apollo Bay. Within 30 minutes you can be at the Otway treetop walk & zip lining and the many Otway waterfall walks. Ultra-comfortable furnishings surround you at this modern open plan property. Beautifully appointed with all conveniences.

Well equipped house but beds are terrible

Our overall stay was very disappointing. We stayed for 5 nights in March. The beds where so uncomfortable that we all ended up with bad backs and my husband ended up sleeping on the couch. The cleaning was not great and there was water damage on walls. We could hardly see out of the windows as they where full of dirt. On a positive note the place was very close to ocean and we had some nice walks there.

Watching Fireworks across the water from the balcony

Great setup in a great spot; view of the ocean and Apollo Bay was terrific! Even had a growling koala wandering past the bedroom in the middle of the night!

Perfection

The property was exactly as shown in the listing. The view was spectacular, all amenities were functional and of a good standard. With two young children under 8, having a space where they could have fun and not have to be quiet was fantastic as there was a descent distance between us and the neighbors. Plenty of space, beds were comfy, and the place felt like home. We will definitely be staying again.

This place is in an amazing location with wonderful views of the ocean. It ticks all the boxes! A relaxing spa bath while watching the sunset was an added bonus as well as a warm fire for the cold evenings.

GREAT LOCATION

Great location, close to Apollo Bay but not too close. Easy access to main road, but away from traffic noise. Still able to hear the surf rolling in at night. Good facilities in accommodation, adequate heating and plenty of hot water.

Awesome view of the ocean

The house offers a clear view of the ocean that more than offsets any minor discomfort that we felt. It is 5 minute drive away from Apollo Bay where amenities are. Walking distance to the beach is a great boost -- we can get wet and sandy and walk home. There is only 1 aircon on level 2 living room that can stream down the bedrooms on level 1. Each bedroom has a electric cool heater that works very well. It is a good base to explore anything within 2 hours radius, including 12 Apostles, nearby bays and forests. Driving back to the city would take 3 hours about, so avoid ending the trip here and mad rush to the airport -- its tiring. Surely an awesome place to be.

Stayed 6 days in winter. Well-equipped, lots of useful instructions, great woodfire, nice deck, plentiful birdlife, great views - overall very nice stay - would recommend to anyone!

Disappointed

I am so disappointed at the cleanliness of skenes beach house. We booked this place for our anniversary but regret it so much as the place was covered in cob webs and spiders, it was impossible to sleep on the beds due to spiders and webs under the bed so we had to sleep on the sofa bed with our 2 children. We paid $300 a night and I would've expected it to be well looked after! half our day went on buying Mortein from the shops and then vacuuming the house & the edges of the walls as the entire house was filled with spiders. The views and location of this place was probably the best part of our stay apart from that I don't recommend this place to anyone unless you don't mind sleeping with spiders!

Lovely comfortable,modern, clean holiday home. Thank you for the Welcome Wine - a nice touch. The beds were really comfortable and it was great to be able to wash and dry clothes efficiently. Unfortunately the oven wasn't working . The light and fan were on but no heat, which at the time made me a bit cross because I had a casserole ready to bake.

We spent last weekend at the beautiful skenes beach house and we were more than impressed. Great location with spectacular beach views from the deck and living area. Just a short stroll to the beach which is pristine and peaceful. Accommodation was great with very comfy beds downstairs and everything you could ask for to make our stay very comfortable. Very clean throughout and modern. We will be back and recommend highly

Wonderful Stay

Had a lovely stay at skenes beach house, we stayed here last year and we are glad we decided to again. We had a lovely breakfast overlooking the ocean and had a visit from a very cute koala in the tree right next to us!! The wood fire was exceptional as well as the beautiful beach views! We will definitely be back again! Cheers for the bottle of wine.

A great place to stay

Have stayed here a few years ago. Was a little worried after reading recent reviews but took a punt. The place was very clean, lots of stuff for fires and a spare gas bottle for the bbq on site. Good outdoor furniture but too cold to use. Plenty of cooking gear to use and nice to have a dishwasher( couldn't find instructions but easy enough to use)Had a great stay, with the wonderful views over the beach and ocean and a welcome bottle of wine. Only problem was baskets for coffee machine missing so could not use it. It would seem the new owner has got most things sorted. Will stay there again.

long weekend stay in June

Great place for holiday, beautiful ocean view. house facilities are reasonably good and we had a good time there. couple of simple suggestions: 1- Single bed frames are very noisy and probably low in quality. honestly we were expecting something better. 2- the lower level was full of dead insects (fly, spider etc.). A simple vacuum cleaning could turn into a much better result all in all we spent a great long weekend there.

Beautiful location

Overall, my husband and I had a lovely stay at this property - the location is superb and the view from the balcony is beautiful, particularly at sunset. It was also very quiet, so we slept amazingly well. However, given the cost to rent the property, we did expect the property to be of a slightly higher quality. First, the house was not particularly clean, especially in the bathrooms. Second, the BBQ gas bottle was left empty and the instructions for changing it over were incorrect which meant we had to attend three different locations to have it changed. Third, the table outside on the balcony was badly broken which meant we could not have dinner outside. Fourth, there were no instructions in relation to the use of kitchen appliances (e.g. stove, oven, dishwasher) so we spent some time trying to work these things out before we could start cooking. Finally, there were no instructions regarding return of keys etc. It also would have been a nice touch to receive a welcome letter (and even a bottle of wine / chocolates), with some tips for shops/dining out/walks/beaches. We enjoyed but we wouldn't hurry back.

Disappointed

Disappointing!!

Booked this property for the fire, however after arriving late on the Friday night we sadly discovered that a fire wouldn't be happening. There was no wood inside, no kindling, no fire starters and no matches!!!! We went to the firewood shed out the front only to discover damp logs and zero kindling! The following day we purchased our own fire starters kindling and eventually got the fire working. The house is a lot smaller than it appears on the internet, it was freezing and not enjoyable to stay in during winter! It would've been nice to receive a welcome letter instead of a harsh list of house rules. Wouldn't recommend this property to anyone and don't feel it was worth the $280 a night we paid!

Keeping firewood dry in Apollo Bay during winter is an ongoing battle and we have made adjustments to our shed to address this issue. In the past we have supplied fire starters but found that our supply would go walk about. We now ask that guests bring their own consumables and will review our guest information to ensure that this requirement is clear. We do provide welcome letters via email, my apologies if you did not receive this welcome letter.
