About this property
Chrysopigi house in Sifnos
Traditional artist s house with breathtaking views over Chrysopigi bay. Walking distance to the beach- ideal for families-Chrysopigi Monastery and to two taverns with Sifniot dishes and fresh fish.
With respect for the island’s traditional architectural style, the exterior of the villa features an alluring combination of whitewashed and stone surfaces. The well-tended outdoor areas include a large terrace offering magnificent sea views, along with a lovely shaded patio, well protected from the wind, which is ideal for a quiet breakfast or al fresco dining.
Uncluttered, spacious, bright and airy, the interior makes optimum use of natural materials, with attractive wood ceilings and stone floors. The tastefully furnished property is owned by two distinguished artists and many of the items – for instance the lighting fixtures and the boats that adorn the walls – are their own work.
There are two double bedrooms on the upper floor, a master bedroom with double bed and the other with twin beds. On the same level there is also one bathroom, as well as a kitchen and living area.
The lower level has two more double bedrooms, each with single beds, one bathroom and an inviting living room.
The villa is perched on a hillside overlooking the picturesque church of Chrysopigi in atranquil bay on the southeast coast of the island. This elevated position affords breathtaking views over the bay, the surrounding countryside and the blue waters of the Aegean. The iconic dazzling white church stands on a small rock connected by a tiny single-arch bridge and appears to float on the sea. Built in 1650, it is dedicated to the island’s patron saint and is the subject of many intriguing legends. After swimming and snorkelling, walking or hiking, villa guests can savour traditional Sifniot dishes and fresh fish at one of the nearby tavernas. A short drive will take them to the villages of Faros or Platys Gialos, both of which offer a choice of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. They will also find potter’s workshops, at which the island’s celebrated ceramics are still made in the time-honoured way.
