During the winter months, guests can cozy up by the gas fireplaces after a day on the slopes, while during the summer months, they can relax and utilize the outdoor undercover BBQ areas (there are two on the property). Crackenback is conveniently located on the Alpine Way between Thredbo and Jindabyne, with easy access to the Ski Tube. This means that getting to Perisher is just a 10-minute train ride away. Great location for skiing weekend
We booked both the Chalet and Studio for a couple of weekends over the year and really enjoyed our stay. The properties are well kept and presented with all the amenities that you need for a short getaway. It is very close to the Skitube and we would walk there every morning (with kids) in about 10 minutes. There is a drying room with underfloor heating and a drying cupboard to make sure all the equipment can be dried overnight. The kitchen(s) are well equipped with everything you need to prepare your own meals. There is also an Aldi coffee machine.
The only issue is that all the heating is set on automatic timers and preset settings, which can't be altered. For example you can't even change the fan speed or swing in the reverse cycle air conditioners. The living areas had a gas fireplace and a reverse cycle airconditioning, while the bedrooms had wall heaters (except the master bedroom which had some underfloor). We found it was easier to take our own bar heaters and run them than to try and work out the automated heaters. Moreover it gave us the flexibility to change temperate and timings as it suited us.
