Toccoa River Valley Retreat - with the cool river breeze drifting through the forest, and a hot tub that seems to float in the trees. The mighty Toccoa River flows by in the small valley below where your private dock awaits your visit. What could be more relaxing than our exclusive Couple's Retreat on the Toccoa River?

Prior to the full description of this cabin, we want our future guests to know that we are taking extra precautions! Our EXCELLENT cleaner spend 3-4+ hours between guests, during which time they allow fresh air to penetrate the space. They do an extra wipe down and sanitize all touchable surfaces and sprays disinfectant on anything she can't deep clean, such as upholstered furniture, decorative pillows, etc. so the cabin is fully sanitized upon your arrival.

Bring your fishing equipment and enjoy a wonderful day on your private section of the river!! Whether you are here for the famed Toccoa River trout fishing, hiking and sight-seeing in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, or a romantic weekend getaway, River Valley Retreat is your dream vacation spot. Located on the banks of the Toccoa River, across from the Toccoa Heights area, River Valley Retreat is only 15 minutes from Downtown Blue Ridge, 20 minutes from Aska Adventure Area and 30 minutes from Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.

A true retreat, this renovated (2015 & 2022) rustic cabin sits upon a scenic hillside with beautiful views of the neighboring mountains and the Toccoa River. The magnificent mountain pine log covered deck is perfect for a relaxing evening in a rocking chair, or in the hot tub taking in the majestic scenery of the North Georgia mountains. The three acre property also includes a private dock with direct access to the river and a one acre riverside meadow, perfect for picnicking. It also includes a shared fire pit for relaxing and roasting marshmallows in the evening.

Upon entering the cabin, you are greeted by a western motif entryway and dining area with a pass-through to the kitchen. The artwork features a passion for an equestrian lifestyle in the mountains, in calming blues and greens, accented by unique mountain décor. The main living area features new furniture (2022) - a plush couch , a big comfy lounge chair with a leather topped ottoman and luxurious throw pillows, - TV with cable, including the sports channels, and a DVD player. For cooler seasons, there’s a real wood burning stove, perfect for curling up to for a romantic evening, or just exchanging fishing stories from your day on the river. The adjacent kitchen features a granite countertop, beautiful natural hickory cabinetry, Keurig coffee maker, and stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. A full sized laundry room provides all of the convenience and comforts of home. The landscaped back yard comes complete with a gas grill and picnic table.

The main bath boasts a one of a kind barn board tub and shower. Rustic cabinets, granite countertop, pewter finish faucets, and rough sawn wood trim finish off this equestrian country bathroom. The Master bedroom features a luxurious high headboard bed with a pillowtop, Gatsby mattress. The suite includes a large closet and an additional half bath. We raised the ceiling, added some rustic trim and a little bling for an enhanced romantic vibe. New Smart TV and new linens package rounds out our new bedroom!(2022)

The lower Toccoa River has earned a reputation among anglers as one of the best trout rivers in north Georgia...It's long, deep pools separated by rocky shoals make the flow perfect for both trout fishing and floating. Due to its relatively large size, it is a favored water for fly-fishing enthusiasts, and in 2015 it was designated by the DNR as a year round trout river. It is stocked weekly from April through July 4th, and twice monthly thereafter. You’ll be pulling out mostly rainbow trout, but there are also large numbers of brown trout and a small population of brook trout.

Area activities include fishing, tubing, kayaking, trail rides, Harrah’s Valley River Casino, hiking, bird watching, fall leaf viewing, fine dining, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, and zip lining. All within approximately 30 minutes or less.

If your dates aren't available, please check out our other riverfront cabin - "Fishtrap Overlook on the Toccoa River" Blue Ridge, GA - VRBO#1983814 (2 to 6 people on the Toccoa River) Gxxxle the cabin name and the VRBO listing will come up more easily than searching on the VRBO website.

Peace on the River

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the river! The setting was relaxing and quiet. The cabin was clean and comfortable. It checked all our boxes. We found the best time to fish was from around 6-8:30am since dams are released throughout the day. The location is convenient to Blue Ridge and McCayesville with plenty of wildlife to view! Ellen is a wonderful hostess and quick to respond to our questions. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property!

We went for our honeymoon and hope to be able to return next year for our anniversary. The wildlife being so close was amazing we saw plenty of deer, babies too! The quite was relaxing and the views were beautiful. The thought that the hosts put into the home was noticed. The kitchen was fully stocked; we had everything we needed. We enjoyed being able to prepare meals together on the grill or in the kitchen. The cleanliness of the home and surrounding property speaks to the amount of love and care that goes into the home. There was a little walk down to the river but it is not bad and you can see and hear the river from the cabin especially in the hot tub. The cabin has a very secluded feel but wasnt too far from a convenient store or to Wal-Mart in Blue Ridge. You don't really need a 4 wheel drive to get there although I see where it could come in handy. The driveway is pretty steep; after the first day we used the truck to drive to the easement and walked to the river from there. That was easier on my knees. The river access goes right into the river. I walked to the middle of the river and fished from there. That was an amazing experience for me. The dam releases are worth looking at if you do want to get into the river because the water gets very high and very fast. We absolutely loved our stay and have already decided to make it our little getaway place!

Perfect romantic getaway

I have nothing but great things to say about our stay at this little cabin. We were there for a week for our honeymoon. There is a reason it was voted one of the ten most romantic cabins in GA. The surroundings are peaceful, private, and off the beaten path. The cabin is clean, well appointed and cozy. We had the best time. If you like to be out and about, there is a lot to do in the surrounding areas. The cabin is also a perfect place to just relax and hang out if that's more your speed. The BEST VBRO!

Perfect cabin for retreat

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this cabin. It was right next to the river so I could fish and my wife could relax. It’s about 5 minutes from McCaysville and about 15-20 minutes from Blue Ridge. Cabin was very clean and tucked up into a little hideaway so it was secluded from the few neighbors on the street. It was very quite and peaceful and perfect getaway for my wife and I

A very comfy, cozy cabin!!

We arrived to find this charming cabin as lovely in real life as the pictures on line! Love the location, decor was fun and everything was geared for our comfort and relaxation! We enjoyed cocktails on the porch, relaxed in the hot tub and walked to the river where my husband fished and caught two rainbow trout! The cabin's location was great as it was an easy drive to the downtown, hiking trails and and Copper Basin area. We had lots of privacy and felt safe! We would book another stay in a heartbeat!

Just the two of us…….

We have been to the Blue Ridge area with our children and family in the past. This was NOT that trip. We planned a quiet week away for the two of us (my wife and I), and this property hit all of our benchmarks. The cabin is located close enough to Blur Ridge and Ellijay to make it a last minute day trip, but also close enough to Helen and Chattanooga for a day of fun. The property was spotless with all the needed amenities. Even though the river is a short walk, it was visible from the front porch and quick to get to with a glass of wine and a fishing pole. Ellen was great to deal with and we are hoping she has other property(s) we may be able to visit as a family as this was first class all the way. Highly recommend to the couple that needs some peace and quiet. Thank you again to our hosts.

Amazing!

My husband and I stayed here for my 40th birthday. It was an amazing weekend. The cabin itself is perfect. It had everything we needed. We never even had to leave the house if we didn’t want to. The views in every direction are gorgeous. The hot tub on the front deck was the highlight of my weekend. It was perfect. the only one recommendation I have is if you’re planning on staying for a few days, bring your own shampoo and conditioner.

Amazing!!

This cabin was just what we needed! The location is amazing and the cabin is nice and clean. We came for a nice relaxing break from hectic work schedules and a demanding 3 year old and that's exactly what we got. We both even caught some rainbow trout. We'll definitely be back. The only suggestion I have is to maybe trim the tree limbs at the dock. You'll notice the ornaments we left in the trees while fishing.

Lovely mountain hideaway

Everything about our stay was great! We spent the holidays at the cabin and enjoyed every minute of it. The check in process was easy and the cabin itself was spotless which was very important to us. The cabin is tucked away enough that you feel very secluded but it’s not too deep into the mountains which allowed relatively for quick trips to town and nearby waterfalls in both GA and TN! Back at the cabin, we utilized the hot tub which was also spotless and loved seeing the deer in the driveway for a short while. The cabin is equipped with all of your essentials and then some! Ellen and Dan thought of everything to make the stay convenient, cozy and enjoyable! Thank you both for sharing your cabin with us! We enjoyed every moment of our stay and hope to be back soon!

The great COVID 50th Birthday Bash of 2020

LOVE LOVE LOVE !! Because of the great toilet paper shortage of 2020 we were not allowed our year planned holiday in Mexico for my husbands 50th Birthday. My husband decided well let’s at least go somewhere in Georgia. We could not have picked a more beautiful private getaway. It was polar opposite of Mexico but it was well worth it. This cabin is CLEAN!! We have stayed in other places where I spend the first day just tidying up. The kitchens are not stocked. The dinnerware is cheap and questionable. NOT HERE! LOVE LOVE LOVE this retreat. Nothing has been spared in the preparation of this cabin to make you feel more at home. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The walk to the private dock is not as bad as some reviewers have stated but it is enough to help you justify another piece of the Birthday cake :) The only negative I can think of and it’s not even a negative just me being forgetful ... the door code is tool long LOL wished it was like a 4 numbers thing LOL The wildlife was a pleasure. They just come by to say hello and go on their way merry little way. Even a red cardinal wake up call every morning. He’s very prompt and on schedule. 😂 I hope to come back some day ! Would recommend! The owners were awesome! Thank you again for sharing your beautiful cabin !

Beauty and tranquility at its finest

This retreat rental exceeded our expectations. From the welcoming and well groomed landscaping of the front of the house, to the inside of the home which was immaculate with a homelike feel, exceptionally maintained and well cared for. We usually bring our own bedding and linens, but this home made me feel I didn’t need to worry about cleanliness so I left those items in the tote and that’s a first! Kitchen and bath are totally equipped and comfortable. Early morning walks to the river made for a perfect start to the day for hiking trails, zip lining and downtown strolls. Evening was the best time to watch the fog roll up the river. Very mystical. Taking a video and listening to the water is a great way to renew your mind at the end of the day. Food at Charlie’s Italian restaurant was expensive and downright horrible. Chicken Parm - It was really bad. Pizza was so doughy and thin I had to send it back. Would never go there again. Food at Blue Ridge Mountain BBQ , also VERY disappointing. The “bbq” food is not smoked or seasoned. Chicken sandwich was sliced chicken put on a roll and then you add your sauce. That’s it. All served out of hot pans while the girls in the kitchen were on their cell phones preparing your food. Watched it. All the tables were dirty with leftover food and drinks on them. Didn’t waste any more money on any other restaurants. The BEST food was the meals we made at River Valley Retreat! Ellen is very, very efficient with her responses to any questions. Home and activities are given a 5 star rating!

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property in 2014 and completely renovated it in 2015, and updated it again in early 2022 - all with the vacation rental market in mind. The log front porch with cedar siding was created to add significant curb appeal from the road and an amazing place to spend the majority of your vacation. We could sit out there for hours, sipping some wine, eating some cheese and crackers, and lounging in the hot tub.

This property has the perfect mix of amenities and location! The Toccoa River is amazing - so clean and refreshing when it's hot out! The fishing is incredible and we are located at a part in the river where it is wide, with a few deep pockets for fish, and privately owned, so it is not fished as heavily as other sections of the river. On hot day, sitting on the dock, dipping our toes in the water or maybe venturing out on a tubing ride - it's heavenly!

What makes this property unique

It's rare to find a property this large - 3 acres - and this beautiful - within minutes of all kinds of mountain attractions. Blue Ridge is 15 minutes away and has some of the best restaurants and dining options you'll find any where, including a much larger city. We love Harvest on Main,, and Black Sheep for better fare, but the little advertised Masseria (owned by same restaurateur as Harvest), is a gem for a fraction of the price. Also love La Pizzeria in Morganton. Take time out for yourself and walk the amazing shops on W. Main Street. You'll find unique gifts for any occasion and it's easy to stock up for the Holiday Season, even when it's July.

For a quick grocery run, Copper Hill/ McCaysville has a great little IGA about 4 miles away. We also love Rolling Thunder tubing company and browsing some of the shops can also be a nice past time.

Murphy, NC is located about 30 minutes away, including the new Harrah's Valley River Casino. Great for a rainy day past time.
