Property failed spectacularly to live up to expectation
The image conjured by the word “luxury” is nowhere near the reality of this rental. The pictures look great, right? The deception gradually became apparent starting with the busted sectional in the main living area, which also was soon discovered to smell of body odor. But it wasn’t just that, the air conditioning on the 2nd level where the bedrooms are didn’t work leaving them uncomfortably warm, one of every 3 lights was burnt out, the ice maker didn’t work, there was mold in the primary bathroom shower, which also had an old, battered seal that didn’t keep water from getting out of the shower and onto the floor. Showers would provide 10 seconds of warmth, then return to cold. The top deck offered a view, but the gas grill could've provided tetanus if one's gaze lingered too long. It was crusty, gross and unusable. The deck itself could use a cleaning as the dirt tracked easily from bare feet into the house, even after several attempts to sweep it. The hum of the a/c units sitting on the deck prevent quiet conversation, but it feels so good when they stop. The Wi-Fi was inadequate to reach the top floor and the repeaters deployed would not connect to the Internet. We had committed to a 4 week rental and fortunately the property manager was very responsive to the most pressing issues regarding A/C, ice, and grill, though it took a week or two for repairs to be fully completed. During this time someone needed to be present, causing undesirable interruption to our days. We had to endure everything else, including a notice from the city the water would be shutoff due to non-payment. Aside from these issues and many more too numerous to list in this space, the location is convenient to the beach, though it is noisy. Dump trucks variously pickup and drop off containers from the yard directly behind the property. This can occur before 6am and include backup beeper alarms and thunderous dropping of dumpsters. This place needs a minor investment, attention to detail, and an owner that has any amount of pride and care in a renter’s experience. I recommend no one spend their hard earned money on this rental. It doesn't meet even low expectations for the expense.
