About this property

Twin Cities Historic HQ for Comfort, Privacy, Space, Walkable Location and Every Convenience

A unique rental; all four bedrooms have their own private bathroom, entertainment center and fridge. The rest of the house gives plenty of space to spread out, multiple rooms that work well for family or business. The kitchen is top end and organized, The host is gracious and kind, quick to respond to any need or question. A unique spot to stay in the Twin Cities; a peaceful urban neighborhood, short drive to MSP airport, the Mall of America and both downtowns.
This beautiful spacious home was built in 1896 and it has all the modern comforts of today, including being a sustainably managed property. Total of 5 beds and 4.5 baths. Located just up the hill from downtown Saint Paul, about a 15 min drive to MSP airport, the Mall of America and to downtown Minneapolis.

This beautiful brick historic home is a Clarence H. Johnston original and it shows. It sits beautifully among the other historic homes in the Ramsey Hill Historic District also known as Cathedral Hill. It has a huge kitchen and classic dining room with a table that seats 8. The 1st floor is great for family time with 2 sitting rooms and a game room with lots of games, books and movies. The home has a unique set up with large open spaces with pocket doors that offer different options for use. There is a large porch with a swing that is great for just hanging out with friends and letting the world stroll by.

In addition to the charm and beauty of the home it's a terrific space because of its prime location. One can walk to several restaurants, unique bars, coffee shops, and the Grand Avenue shopping district. We are also just moments from downtown Saint Paul, only a 1.7 Mile walk to the Excel center; it's close the MSP airport (15 min drive); close to the Mall of America (15 min drive), and also just a quick drive to downtown Minneapolis.

We allow well behaved dogs and there is a lot of great dog walking areas around. St. Paul is very dog friendly. $50 dog surcharge

We are certified and inspected with the MN department of health and are compliant with all local safety laws.

*Please note rental doesn't include the 3rd floor condo. The condo on the third floor is the owners quarters for the bed and breakfast and has separate staircase to allow guests privacy. Lastly we do own two small dogs that use the separate private staircase to come and go.

Everything we hoped for!
This was the perfect spot for our group of 6 women - college friends for over 50 years - to enjoy our annual reunion. We were awed to think of all that has happened within these walls over the past 125 years and we are so happy this house is under the care of owners who are preserving it and sharing it with others. This property has it all - history, comfort, privacy, location and every convenience. And exceptional hosts!

Simply the best
This is a lovely property, and our whole family felt lucky to stay here. We were in town for a family wedding weekend - a busy schedule, so we couldn't explore the lovely neighborhood as much as I would have liked. Every time we came back to the house, I was calmed by its beauty and stateliness. The beds were lovely, the bathrooms exceptional, and the kitchen extraordinary.

We usually run a bed and breakfast at this property and providing a special place for people to enjoy is our calling not just a job. We love the Cathedral Hill area because it is so close to great restaurants and unique bars. We are a full-service historic bed and breakfast, but we have the entire building listed here reflecting a self-service option that gives you exclusive use of the home. We live on the condo on the 3rd floor of the building. The owners quarters are separate from the rental to give guests privacy. We own two small hypoallergenic dogs that use the separate staircase to come and go. You most likely will never meet these cuties.

Why they chose this property

This home is set up as a bed and breakfast, therefore, all of the bedrooms are set up with en-suite bathrooms, small fridge and entertainment centers; the home is designed with spaces for both hospitality and privacy.
This is a one of a kind home built in an area when craftsmanship and quality mattered.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location. Stay cozy close to where you need to go. Walking distance to the best culinary scene in the Twin Cities. This is a uniquely peaceful urban neighborhood. One of kind home, with lots of space, and a great kitchen.
