Not the best, but not the worst.
This house has potential but unfortunately we were pretty uncomfortable and not able to truly enjoy it.Off the bat, the house is cute, but it’s definitely on the older side. It’s in a heavily wooded area, so there are A LOT of insects, crane flies and spiders everywhere. When you enter, you’re hit with the smell of an older home - a little mildewy and a little sulphur-ish. The door jamb was broken and the deadbolt takes some jiggling to lock. Another review stated it was shabby chic and while it would be charming, the overall cleanliness of the place was a turn off.Unsure how long ago the last guests were, but the linens and towels in each of the rooms had a distinct mildew smell, especially the back room with the en-suite. We stayed in the front room, which seemed a wee bit cleaner than the others. In both bathrooms, the tubs are stained. The rear bathroom toilet was also stained and smelled of mold, there were cobwebs everywhere, and the shower curtain had mold as well. We caught a huge spider in that bathroom. Water in the front bathroom shower smells metallic. In the kitchen, there are plenty of dishes and utensils. The bottom right burner doesn’t light. Fridge filter light was on. The home itself definitely needs a good deep cleaning and fumigation. Would recommend an exterior power wash as well as landscaping on the bushes against the house. We did not use the pool as it was unheated. Again, great potential if the owners invest in some work and upgrades.

Hi Priscila, the right vacation home is everything, and we’re sorry to hear this wasn’t the experience you were hoping for. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:- We’re truly dismayed to hear that your stay didn’t meet expectations, especially during what was a beautiful, sunny weekend.- We’ve shared your feedback with our property manager and asked them to double down on cleaning efforts, including deep cleaning and refreshing both indoor and outdoor spaces.- Our home is a cottage-style property surrounded by lush greenery, which offers a peaceful, nature-filled setting, but we recognize that this environment can bring more insects, and we’ll be reviewing pest control services and landscaping to help manage this more closely.- We appreciate your suggestions on maintenance and upgrades, and we’ll take them into account as we continue to improve the property for future guests. Thanks again for your valuable feedback as we work to create the best possible experience for all guests.

You get what you pay for
Overall, you get what you pay for with this home. More affordable than other similarly sized homes in Sonoma and Napa as it's lower quality - would equate to staying at a budget motel vs. nice hotel.
Pros:
- Value for money
- HUGE property
- Pool available
- 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms
- Modern kitchen and living room (great for watching movies and cooking as a group)
Cons
- One of the bathrooms smelled heavily of decaying fish. When I emailed the property manager about this they were surprised but the problem was never resolved in the 4 nights we were there. We noticed the other bathroom had a sulfur smell, which is acceptable with older homes/pipes but this fish smell was different. We also noticed that the bathroom and adjoining bedroom were the only rooms with air fresheners, indicating to us that this is an ongoing issue.
- The house was superficially cleaned. There were stains on carpet throughout the house, settled dust on bookshelves and tiny ants were crawling on all the walls.
- A previous review mentioned that the pool was "rough" and that is accurate. While amazing to have a pool, it was concrete and had peeling paint. Water was clean and we saw the pool cleaner work but it was hard to relax knowing the area wasn't upkept.
- Communication was poor proactively and reactively. Proactively, would have expected the management company to let us know the house is difficult to find (as in not on any map apps AND not on the road given). Reactively, it took a day for the management company to respond to an email about the pool and the fish-smell in the bathroom and no changes were ever made to amend the situation in our 4 nights there.

Hi Karen, thanks for your feedback and we're so sad that this was not your ideal vacation stay. The owners are aware of the smell and they have taken extensive measures prior to your arrival to alleviate the issues and they are still working on that. The pest control has been called out to the house an additional time. The pool is 20 years old and is in good condition for its age considering the gunite composition. Also, there is detailed instructions in the pre-stay email that have been easy to follow for previous guests. We are confident that the care and attention this owner contributes will make this home a great stay for future guests.

Sweet house
Pretty grounds, although pool a little rough(not heated) Communication wasn’t easy, a management company whose fees are in addition to VRBO, was inconsistent. One person said property had no grills, another said they did making planning difficult. When we arrived, there were three grills! Layout of house nice, most bedrooms had a little outdoor area, well stocked kitchen. Location a little more remote, but surrounded by nature... not as close to Sonoma square as we thought. I would have given the house 5 stars for cleanliness, but pool area was rough...
This place is fun for young children! I would recommend bringing some child locks (u shape) for the pool gate and at least the cupboard under the kitchen sink. Our 1 and 3 year old boys loved the front courtyard, pool, and exploring bird and lizard life all around us. We had so much fun and didn’t need to leave the property.
Beautiful cottage not far from Sonoma or Napa Valley.
Beautiful older home that was very charming! Has lots of room for and plenty of beds for a larger family or a group of 8. Kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfy. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Overall, I am never too sure what I'm going to walk into with VRBO type places. We had a small group to celebrate my fiance 40th birthday and this place was amazing. It was close to DT Glen Ellen, Wineries, and a short drive to downtown Santa Rosa. We utilized the amazing kitchen every day and already discussing when we will rent this property again. A hidden gem is the best way I can describe this place..
Great location for visiting all of the Sonoma wineries! Everybody enjoyed the pool when we returned from spending the day tasting wine in the heat wave. It was a neat place with several different areas to hang out. Perfect for our group of 8!
This place has everything - it’s a little dated but clean and lots of space for our kids to have fun.
It’s managed by a commercial agent which made communication a bit tricky but other than that everything was great!
Had a wonderful time in Glen Ellen. The house was clean upon our arrival. More than adequate space to spread out with family. Gated pool, Separate BBQ and outside area. Short drive to Glen Ellen, Jack London State Park. Very Nice.
The home was an older property, with well apportioned bedrooms and living spaces. We found it a little under maintained, but gave it the benefit of the doubt (pretending we were in France in a quaint cottage.). We had too high expectations overall, but would at least expect clean dishes and a working coffee pot. The property was beautifully set and we enjoyed our stay. The property manager was very responsive and addressed our concerns.
