About this property
Wine Country Getaway With Pool, Hot Tub, Garden, Views, Location!
Your Country House is in the geographic center of The Valley of the Moon (what Jack London named Sonoma Valley), near Old Glen Ellen, just South of Kenwood and North of the historic Sonoma Plaza. The best place to stay in all of Sonoma Valley.
You are literally surrounded by world class wineries, dining, spas, history and nature. It is a great getaway year round.
A few of the wineries within 2 minutes of the house: Abbot's Pass, Benzinger, Hamel, Eric Ross, BR Cohn, Imagery, Arrowwood, Mayo, Little Family, Laurel Glen and Paint Horse.
Even though you will be surrounded by famous sites, once you get to the house you may not want to go anywhere. Enjoy the Pool, hot tub, gardens and fire pit. Relax in one of many cozy outdoor spots with a good book. If you like to cook - help yourself to whatever is in season in the garden and plan your menu! Instacart and Prime Now can deliver whatever other ingredients you need within a couple hours.
Hike to the most beautiful parts of the Jack London State Park straight from the house, no need to drive or go for a run around Lake Suttonfield - a 5 minute walk away. Practice yoga under the wisteria pergola or get a workout gardening!
Enjoy coffee on the back deck and the Sunrise over the Mayacamas Mountains. In the evening, glass of wine in hand, watch the Sunset over Heaven Hill from the pool!
Relax at night in the Hot Tub and Stargaze- the country night is so dark that many more stars are visible to the naked eye than in the city.
Most kids of any age find plenty of ways to keep busy. There are many outdoor toys of different types (and conditions!) on site. The cleaning service will not take care of them but a quick rinse with the hose is all they need and most kids are happy. There are Pool toys and floats, push toys, ride on toys, gardening toys and more. Kids like to race around the winding pathways on scooters and little ones enjoy the small playhouse. There are some books, puzzles and inside toys as well. The kitchen has all the kid cutlery, plates etc you will need so leave yours at home! We love families and welcome yours!
Please note: we have visible outdoor cameras to protect the property as it is often empty. They’re for safety only and are always turned off during stays.

About the host
Hosted by Jen Hughes

We have many fond memories of our kids and their friends enjoying our "Crunchy" house (3 year old Sam couldn't say "Country" so "Crunchy" stuck!). From Easter Egg hunts to carving pumpkins grown on the property, stargazing and pool parties, Fall harvests (we make our own olive oil) and spring plantings - there are lots of ways for kids (and adults) to get dirty and have some good old fashioned fun at the place. We love sharing our house with guests and want everyone to have a great time and make wonderful memories like we have... and continue to do!
Why they chose this property
It is the geographic center of Sonoma Valley so the best location to easily reach any of its world class wineries, activities, concerts, events, film festivals which are scheduled year round.
Due to its many unique microclimates and significant terrain differences Sonoma Valley has 425 wineries within its 30 square miles. It is both the oldest wine region in the state and has the most diverse selection of wine grapes (60 varietals).
Despite its world class status, with many celebrities choosing it as their home, it has remained rural and down to earth in character. All people are welcomed equally and you can dress up as little or as much as you like and feel completely comfortable.
The valley is full of history and includes a large natural Wildlife Corridor. Hiking paths into Jack London State Park and a local regional park start right at our front door.
There are many specialty shops and fantastic restaurants all within a couple minutes of the house.
In short we never run out of things to do and places to explore and it is enjoyable year round!

What makes this property unique
Location, Location, Location!
Large private property to stretch out in with many separate areas within to enjoy. A small orchard, a garden, lawn areas, a swinging large bench under an oak, views from many places on the property in both directions, nestled in the narrowest part of the valley between the two mountain ranges. Great microclimate keeping it warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Great location yet private enough to feel like a true country getaway.
