It was VERY quiet. For us it was centrally located to all the areas we wanted to hike. The decor was absolutely amazing. Each day we would notice something we had missed the previous days.We would most definitely stay there again
Cabin is exactly as pictured. Beautiful decor, and a very homey feel! This was the best experience I've ever had booking a VRBO, from start to finish. The host was very responsive, the pricing was fair, and the cabin was very clean.

Excellent location. Good communication with the owners. Wonderfully close to the lake and amenities.
Location was secluded, quick access to the causeway which we enjoyed. Power went out our last night, but it wasn't long before it came back on. The quiet was blissful!!
Thank you!
The home is filled with very nice personal and thoughtful decor. We very much enjoyed our stay and appreciate the cleanliness and warmth that the owners have taken time to fill the inside with.
This is a great place for a stay in the Burlington area.
What a wonderful setting to get away from it all yet be close to everything you could possibly need or want. This little cottage is an embrace as you are drawn into its warmth.

This place is very cool and the location is great. The kitches has everything you would need. Kayaks are nice but there is a steep staircase to get the the rocky water. Big problem is that there is only a partial wall to the bathroom. No ceiling. Not much privacy. A/C was ok at best on a very hot day. Needed to walk across a wet lawn to get to the house which is behind another house.
Overall, the stay was great! We swam in the lake across the street, rode our bikes on the Colchester Causeway, and along the Burlington Bikepath to a quiet beach. The house was clean and welcoming.
Thank you!
The property I think is as described and the location by the causeway is pretty fantastic, that is the big draw. Being able to walk/ride out to the causeway is excellent.
Little things though marred the experience for me. Tiny coffee machine that is a little broken (top falls off, often into cup as you pour) - very cheap and can only make 2 cups. No coffee filters provided. Toaster is tiny, cheap and a bit hard to use. There is no established path so you are just trotting about 50 yards across a field and muddy patches. The parking up on the grass also is less than ideal.
Also the lack of shampoo and conditioner was a tad frustrating. The left about 1/2 of what you needed.
Still I did like many of the little touches of the home, neat little wall pieces.
Cabin-like rental across the street from the lake and a 2-3 minute's walk to the causeway. Bed is comfortable, and there is a nice deck out front and there are kayaks, which we not able to use, but it's a nice feature.
A few caveats: if you have mobility issues, you might want to avoid this place because you have to walk on grass a fair stretch to get from the driveway. The bathroom is not that private: the ceiling is completely open. There were also a lot of mosquitos.
Our second stay at Baxter's Hideaway was just as wonderful as the first. Albert is very responsive. The property very clean and well-equipped. The proximity to the bike trail is great. With beautiful weather we meandered along Church Street Marketplace in Burlington each night (highly recommend!). If you want to eat dinner in Burlington we recommend making reservations well in advance. We will definitely return again next fall!
We had a wonderful time at Baxter’s Hideaway! Easy access to the lake and causeway, comfortable beds, and beautifully curated decor. All photos of this listing are very accurate.
We had a wonderful week at the cabin, perfectly located and accurately listed. Hosts were easily available. Could not have asked for a better Vermont location and vacation.
Unfortunately, it rained all weekend and we weren’t able to take advantage of the great location close to the lake and causeway. Hope to come back another time when the weather is more cooperative so we can bike and kayak.
This is very eclectic, interesting little place. It was adequately furnished with everything you'd need in the kitchen, including ice trays to make ice. Being so close to the causeway was the best!! We did lots of walks and fishing and exploring over there - that made this worth it. Our only issue was there is only one window unit AC for the entire house. When we walked in at check-in the house was 89 degrees as no one had turned on the window unit. We were able to get it down to a comfortable level by the next day. Just be sure to check the weather before your stay!
Enjoyed our 4 nights in Burlington. The cabin was comfortable for 2 but no more. Wish a few more dollars were put into sheets and pillows but other than that we liked the cabin.
Baxter's Hideaway was absolutely wonderful. Communication was excellent - quick and helpful. The proximity to the Island Line Trail was unmatched - we were able to hop on our bicycles without driving anywhere. The accommodations were better than the pictures, and like other reviews, we found so many things to look at - so much care and detail all around. The shower was good. The beds were comfortable. We didn't cook, but it had everything we'd have needed if we did. We enjoyed reading the guest book. We are very much looking forward to a return trip!
This is an A+ property in a fantastic location. Communication with the owner/manager was very clear, the house was very comfortable (great mattress, high quality sheets and pillows, excellent water pressure, plenty of seating), and the proximity to the Colchester Causeway made for some fantastic walks.
