About Margaret and Paul Jupe
After retiring from education, we have tried to make a difference to some wonderful old buildings by giving them a new lease of life. The property has been renovated by us with the intention of giving visitors to our region of South Australia a true country experience in beautiful surroundings. Sometimes we all beed to get away from the rat race. We moved to the south east in 1973 and absolutely love the lifestyle. Just peace and quiet
Margaret and Paul Jupe purchased this House in 2017
Why Margaret and Paul Jupe chose Kalangadoo
Sometimes we all need to get away from the rat race. Cloisters of Kalangadoo offers high quality architectural accommodation in a quiet, rural setting with unbelievable river red gum landscape, beautiful sunsets and a much slower pace of life - a photographers delight. Why wouldn'tf you want to experience this at least one time in your life, The Cloisters has been renovated to bring life back to the very friendly local community.
What makes this House unique
When we first looked at the property which had not been used for 14 years, we fell in love with the beautiful timber ceiling and floor. The church deserved to be given another chance for others to enjoy for many years to come. It is on the Mary McKillop trail, only 20 minutes from Penola and the world famous Coonawarra wine region. Glencoe's mushroom forest only 20 minutes away. A 35 minute drive to Mt Gambier's famous Blue Lake and Umpherston Sinkhole.

Cant fault the accommodation*. Jes met us as we arrived. Really appreciate the effort that went into the conversion. We would like to return with more of the family. *I'm over 6 foot so the ceiling line in the bathroom does come into play sometimes! no great probs though.
Great new find in the Coonawarra region
Lovely property, immaculate , well appointed and so clean. We enjoyed our stay, it was so comfortable, quiet and a great location for our travels to the surrounding areas. It was also both historic and modern in design- nicely done.
Lovely property with tons of amenities. Huge double shower, clean, modern and beautiful house. Highly recommend staying here. Peaceful, best sleep you will have in ages!
Thank you so much Jenna for your review and staying. Have tried to cater to our guests. Kind regards
Beautiful property with every comfort
We had a lovely 2 days at this property. The house is beautifully done up and extremely comfortable. The owners very kindly left us a bottle of local wine to welcome us which was a lovely touch. It is an easy 25 min drive to Penola and the wine region and about an hour from Mount Gambier. I would highly recommend this property.
Hi Melanie, thank you so much for your review. It is a great way to see if we are doing everything we can for our guests. I am wondering which way you drove to Mt Gambier as it is only a 35 minute drive. Maybe Google map took you the long way. Hope you are enjoying the rest of your time in Australia. Safe travels home.
Great stay in Kalangadoo
My young family had a lovely time at Cloisters. The property is kept very clean and had everything we needed. We particularly liked hanging out with Jimmy the Shetland pony next door and feeding him a few carrot treats. Margie is a great host, regularly keeping in touch to ensure we had everything we needed. The only issue we had was staying on a 40 degree day - the bedrooms upstairs get very hot and the main aircon unit downstairs wasn't able to push cold air into the two front rooms. But overall we'd definitely stay here again.
Thank you for staying at the Cloisters. Reviews are always helpful and we aim to make our guests feel welcome. I am sure Jimmy has missed his treats.
a beautiful place to stay with everything you need to be comfortable. great location in quiet town with mt gambier, penola , millicent and the coonawarra only a short drive away
It was a pleasure hosting you. Thank you for your review. We do think Kalangadoo is a very central place for guests to stay in the Limestone Coast.
Located 15 minutes from the world famous Coonawarra wine region. Naracoorte World Heritage Caves are approx. 50 minutes drive north. Beautiful Blue Lake in Mt Gambier is a must see. Most visitors to the area did not realize there was so much to see in the Limestone Coast. On the Mary McKillop trail. Locally grown organic apples, cider and wine are just down the road. Rose horticulture, cherry farm and beer brewing are also close by.
