This was an amazing stay. As an avid bird watcher, I really enjoyed the natural setting and all of the birds! The host was amazing and was very responsive and caring of the guests. I couldn't have asked for more!

My recent stay had me immediately feeling like being home. I stayed a couple of days longer than I normally do, and was completely content in my surroundings — not only enjoying the proximity of the lake, but of the restaurant and both bars as well. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay and a tremendous pathway to relaxation that was sorely needed! Already planning my next stay!!!

Very Relaxing and Enjoyable Weekend Stay

I have been fortunate enough to have made several stays with the Black Hammock Getaway, covering three different units, but have satyed at this particular one three times now. The location provides easy access to the restaurant, both bars, and the marina; as well as amazing views of the daily sunsets. Despite its closeness to all the extra activities, it provides enough space and comfort for a very peaceful restful stay. Additionally, it's hard to beat the view during the day -- I would set up my laptop at the table in the outer room and have an amazing view across the canal and lake. I fully anticipate making several more stays at this location!

Great stay, Lots to do and see!

I stayed with my husband, Mom and Dad. We had a great time! Communication with the property manager was quick. If staying for more than weekend, be sure to bring your supplies, I was unprepared. A great time was had by all!!

Gatorhole oasis

I was in Florida for a week on business. Staying in a hotel and eating out for that length of time did not appeal. It was surprisingly quiet, just close the bedroom door and the bar music disappears. The view of the canal and birds was wonderful to work to.

Old Florida is right

This was a wonderful place to enjoy the wildlife and beautiful sunsets after a busy day. It is a funky older home, as the pictures show. Waking up to herons directly outside the dining area was a daily pleasure. The patrons of the bar and restaurant ebbed and flowed, but never disturbed our sleep. The beds were extremely comfortable as well. Christina was very helpful whenever we had a question. Oviedo is a convenient distance from Orlando and the Atlantic coast, and we found a great barbecue joint near the roundabout. We highly recommend the Gator Hole if a little "Old Florida" appeals to you.

The house smelled so bad of must/mold and that we could not stay a second night. The house was run down, the carpets were filthy, there were no smoke alarms in the house, there was 1/2 roll of toilet paper in the bathroom and no others for spare. The water in the shower smell horrible (beyond just the sulfur smell of well water). There were no wash cloths, no blow dryer. We only stayed the first night of the two we reserved.

Gator hole

The place was very clean but there could of been some fixtures fixed. I do remodeling for a living so some things just stand out. This is not a place for kids to stay because the bar is right outside the front door an the water is also right next to it. We stayed a whole week an the house is on well water , which smelled like rotten eggs the entire time i have sensitive skin so showering was horrible. Make sure you definitely bring water unless u like rotten eggs. The guest book is out dated. They say they have wifi but it never popped up when we tried to connect. The staff working at the bar an surrounding area where very nice. This house says 2bed 1.5bath but there is also another room with a futon.

The Property was older and rustic, but we knew that before renting. The cabin was not cleaned before our arrival. A call into Christine and she had someone there within 30 minutes to clean the place up. It looked like someone had started to clean it but left in the middle of it. Christine had the owner of the resort buy us a round of beverages at the Gator Bar about 50 feet from the cabin door. Everyone was super nice and the cleaning lady that came to clean was super and quick. The owner wife came by and was very apologetic that the place was not cleaned. The cabin is comfortable, we saw much wildlife from birds, geckos to small alligators in the water just outside the dinner table windows. The food at the restaurant and beverages at the bar were fantastic. Other than the hiccup at the beginning of our stay, we had a great vacation, and the cabin was a hit for the entire family. Again, communication with property management was amazing.

The property was exactly as described. The property manager was great. I had one issue during my stay which was the well pump failed. I notified the property manager and it was fixed ASAP. The area is great and the staff at the restaurant amd bar were awesome. I will defintely be back.

This home used to belong to the owner of Black Hammock Fish Camp 30+ years ago. When he sold the fish camp to the new owner, he moved out. It was later turned into a yearly rental and finally a vacation rental
