Beautiful Stonewood Retreat is a private holiday house hidden away amongst 130 million year old rainforest within the World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest. It offers a peaceful and secluded place to relax and enjoy surrounded by some of the most spectacular and pristine rainforest and magical private crystal clear swimming pools. The natural beauty of the cascading waterfalls, swimming pools, ancient boulders and private rainforest walking trails offer a very special and unique experience that will enchant you. Stonewood Retreat will seduce you and capture your heart with its exquisite and modern style, it’s enchanted forest and stunning mountain waterfalls.
The cascading falls are an amazing place to swim, while private walking trails offer a magical place to explore amongst a beautiful rainforest setting. Being only a short walk within the property, you can spend hours swimming in the rock pools or sitting on the giant sun warmed rocks, enjoying the tranquility of the forest. Ancient trees and sunlit boulders present a peaceful and captivating experience.
The flora and fauna within Stonewood Retreat offer a rare insight into our evolution with Cassowaries, Megapods, Boyd's Forest Dragons, Eastern Water Dragons and Musky Rat Kangaroos sharing this special space with you. Ancient forest dragons, kangaroos and birds can be seen at different times of the day around the property and from the house itself.
The creek provides electricity and fresh water to the property. The generation of 24/7 hydro-electricity and permanent supply of spring fed water comes from LIttle Cooper Creek, which runs through the middle of Stonewood Retreat, and originates from a source high up on Thornton Peak, the third highest mountain in Queensland.
The retreat is situated amongst two World Heritage areas - the Daintree Rainforest, and the Great Barrier Reef, sitting in mountains sloping down to the coastal strip that are covered in the oldest continuously surviving tropical rainforest in the world.
The house is comfortable and modern with elements of rustic design. Open spaces that welcome the outside in, offer views of the rainforest from every corner of the house. The open plan design allows the sun to spill in from every angle while filtering through the cool of the forest. Antique windows, timber beams and floor combine with a modern open plan kitchen and bathroom to create a charming and comfortable space. Outside verandas offer relaxing settings to enjoy and unwind.
The house features : 1 Bedroom with King size Bed, LCD flat screen TV with DVD library, Broadband Internet, fully equipped kitchen, large bathroom with separate outdoor tropical bath area, natural rock pool and swimming hole with waterfalls.
Besides the natural beauty of the property itself, there are many places of natural beauty to explore in the surrounding area such as topical beaches, creeks, and rainforest boardwalks, as well as many other attractions such as jungle surfing, river and reef cruises, aerial boardwalks, and sea kayaking. A number of cafes and restaurants are also available for a tasty treat as well.
