We had a lovely stay overall. The house itself is beautiful—very clean, comfortable, and well suited for a large group. The bedrooms were great, and the common spaces were especially nice for spending time together.However, there were some significant issues with the kitchen during our stay. The dishwasher was out of order, and for the first 24 hours the kitchen sink was not working either. We notified the hosts Thursday evening, but unfortunately someone wasn’t able to come repair the sink until Friday around 4pm. With 18 people staying in the house, not having a dishwasher was already a challenge, and not having a working sink made cooking and cleaning extremely difficult. We had to alter several of our cooking plans and ended up purchasing paper plates, cups, and utensils so we could manage meals while the sink was out of order.The home itself is wonderful and we enjoyed being there, but the lack of a functioning sink and dishwasher for a large group was a significant inconvenience especially for the amount of money we spent to stay there.

What an amazing place to celebrate my birthday weekend. The minute you walk through the door you are greeted with a beautiful foyer and space to drop your luggage so you can tour the house. No matter where you turn, there are bedrooms that are tastefully decorated, bathrooms attached or close by. There are two sitting rooms, one with a breathtaking view of the ocean in the distance. All this on the entrance level floor! Then you go downstairs that has two bedrooms, bathroom and sitting area with a huge tv. Hiding behind a door we found a speakeasy. Full bar area with ice maker, couches. TV and a large poker table and small tables with a bench seat. Back at the entrance you go up a large spiral staircase and find a huge open area with an amazing gourmet kitchen, a butler pantry, library, two sitting areas and a spectacular view. Down the hall was the master bedroom, four poster king size bed and an enormous bathroom and dressing area with a separate water closet. Beds were all comfortable and linens were first rate. Books in the sitting rooms were a delightful addition. There was more than enough room for our party of 19 women. We hired a chef, that the host recommended, to come and cook for us Saturday night and our food choices were delicious. Any questions that we had during the days leading to our event, and during our stay were promptly answered by our host. This home had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Tina, January, 2026

Great spot for our family gathering for ages 2-70! Loved the great room and outdoor decks. Nice to get back into tennis too. Short and easy walk to both pebbly beach and sandy beach which we loved even in the rain! Amazing gardens and landscaping and the fire pit was a treat in the evenings! What a treat to get away from it all and stay and this beautiful property. We wanted a place that we could go to and still socially distance and get like we had our own private bit of paradise. A home for respite

We retreated to this wonderful home for a few days with family. There is a gathering or sitting area for every need - the subdued library, the plant room, group meals in the dining room or deck, the observatory, a media area, the main bedroom with spa - and always a door to the outside and the ocean. Patrick is the best host we have ever encountered, thoughtful, responsive and caring.

How can delightful be over-whelming?!

Relaxing Getaway

This home served as a wonderful getaway for our family during this unusual COVID summer. It's roomy, with nice indoor and outdoor spaces, has a nice tennis court which sealed the deal for us, is within 10-15 minutes walk of two casual lobster restaurants, less than 10 minutes walk from a small sandy public beach and a 5 minute walk to a beautiful private rock beach. The house had everything we needed, and Nancy and Dave were easy to work with and very responsive. Just what the doctor ordered!

Wow! We had a marvelous week at the Cottage. Nancy and David met us at the porte cochere and gave us a detailed history of the property, as well as a tour of the house. It’s much larger than we expected, and very spacious, so that everyone had their own private space. We ate on the beautiful deck overlooking the ocean most nights, and watched the stars ⭐️ come out. This morning, we woke at 6 am to watch the sun rise over the ocean... incredible. We were close to beaches, hiking, kayaking, the art museum in Ogunquit, restaurants... something for everyone. We went running along country roads, played tennis 🎾, bocce, and even watched a movie in the downstairs theater. We hope to stay here again.

Great for family retreats

This is a beautiful home with spectacular views. The home changed hands to new owners five days before we arrived in June and based on our experience with them, they were very responsive. Would want to confirm a couple things we discussed with the new owners: 1. Because the downstairs bedrooms are not air conditioned, ceiling fans would be huge help on warm days 2. Blinds have been installed in the room windows. It gets light there early Given new owners will be freshening select areas, having an updated instruction manual for home would be helpful. We would definitely stay there again!

Family getaway

We had a wonderful family stay at the Cottage. Nancy and Dave were great hosts- they gave a very detailed tour of the home so we knew where everything was and offered advice for places to eat and things to do. They live next door to the property so are very responsive to questions/concerns. The location was great. Close to many activities - you can walk to the beach and to town. Short drive to Ogunquit. Portland is approximately 40 minutes away and Salem is about an hour. Tennis court was nice to have on site. There are plenty of outdoor decks, fire pit and a private beach ( the beach is rocky but beautiful). The gardens are lovely. Keep in mind that the home does have a fair amount of steps which could be difficult with children and older adults. There is also no bathroom with a shower for two of the bedrooms. There is an outdoor shower. One big plus for us was that dogs were allowed. Everyone had plenty of space to stretch out to do things as a family or by themselves which made for a relaxing stay.

Perfect for a large group

My family of 6 adults and 1 child(4 years old)had a wonderful week in Ogunquit and York. The house has 4 large, comfortable bedrooms and 2 small bedrooms(which we didn’t use). The en-suite bathrooms need to be updated. The large, open family room/kitchen area is ideal for relaxing and preparing food. We went out to dinner every night, but the appliances, cookware etc. were certainly in abundance. There are many outdoor spaces to sit and eat but most of them are worn and not comfortable. The grounds are spectacular and the tennis court was great! It is a short walk to Cape Neddick beach, but we spent most of our beach days at Ogunquit Beach. We were lucky that we had beautiful weather but the one day that it poured we hung out at the house and played games, read and did puzzles. It is extremely comfortable for that. There is one tv in the family room, but it needs to be updated. The house was just sold a month ago and Nathan, the new owner was wonderful. He answered my questions promptly and communicated that certain areas will be updated in the off season. We look forward to staying in this beautiful spacious house next summer!

Lovely Property with Private Space for All!

We had a great time and a beautiful weekend of fall weather for our family gathering. Accommodations are comfortable and there is plenty of space for everyone to find their niche. The beds and linens are very comfortable, it's quiet and the area is beautiful. We loved being able to walk to the beach area, sit and stare out at the water, contemplating all of our life choices. ;) We found the kitchen well equipped minus a supply of ice (later found in the pantry fridge unit). If you have a person in your party that has difficulty with stairs, please be advised the general living area of the home is on the 2nd level with no elevator. We enjoyed our stay and would book again!

My view on life has been immensely shaped by the loss of my wife, after being her caregiver for seven years. She was 32 years old and six months pregnant with our third little boy when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It became my life’s mission to fill her days with so much love that her pain from treatment would fade away. We quickly started to value experiences and creating positive memories over tangible things. We took numerous vacations with friends and family that we might not otherwise have taken. Words can’t express how much I cherish those memories now.

During those vacations, we always stayed in hotels, and what we found was that while hotels are a great option for people traveling as singles or couples, they were challenging for groups or when we took the children. Eating out as a group or with children is also hard. Finding a reservation for a large party, splitting up the bill, finding parking; the hassle was robbing us of the joy of just being together. What we really needed was a large luxury home with all the amenities at our fingertips - a place with flexible sleeping accommodations, private gathering places, and a well-equipped kitchen.

So from there, myluxvaca was born. Above all, we believe that life is short and should be lived to the fullest. We value experiences over things, and it's our mission to help good people create lasting memories with friends and family. Why they chose this property

This home is located on the historic site of the Passaconaway Inn, circa 1890, which was built as a resort for people looking to escape the heat of the cities. It sits on a high bluff overlooking the Gulf of Maine and it's private beach. It was raised around the
time of the Great Depression when, with the advent of the auto, it was no longer viable. The Cottage at Passaconaway represents our desire to be part of history and by restoring the pathway system originally set up by the developers, we now are proud to offer lovely pathways along the private pebble beach.
The house is an architectural gem with unique features throughout. The second floor living area provides an ample view of the ocean and is the main gathering place. We have enjoyed countless reunions, celebrated births, graduations, and birthdays with our family in this grand vacation home.

What makes this property unique

The property was originally designed for a growing family with ample space for all, and opportunities to engage in many outdoor activities during the summer months. The open atmosphere of the main living level encourages gathering of people while the deck off the dining room and the screen porch gives us access to the outside grand ocean views.
The main level offers a stunning ocean view along with a wood burning fireplace. The bedroom suites on the entry level offer privacy and space.
The master suite opens through french doors to the screen porch and enables us to listen to the sounds of
buoys, foghorns, and the rustling of beach stones as the
ocean rushes across them on every tide.
The other bedrooms all open onto decks and porches for
an enjoyable morning coffee overlooking the pond and
gardens or late afternoon cocktails.
After a round robin of tennis, enjoy your lobster cooked and enjoyed on the bluestone patio. It is the perfect end
to the perfect day along the coast of Maine at the Cottage.
The house showcases the finest local craftsmanship with hand turned columns, hand crafted cabinetry, doors, and railings. The master bathroom/dressing room suite is done in French limestone and is designed to pamper and soothe.
The house is a light-filled and airy space and is like no other.
One of our favorite spots is the covered, wrap-around porch where we can sit overlooking the garden and listen to the fountain in the fish pond.
