The cottage was a perfect place to stay with our 2 families while we ventured around Newfoundland! Walkable distance to downtown St Johns a close to the airport.
Beautiful very clean home!! Close to all things....hiking trail right out the door.Highly recommend this spacious home to everyone!! We had a fantastic 5 day stay.
The property couldn't be better situated as it is near a coastal trail to signal Hill and also a short walk to downtown. A well maintained property with all amenities. We loved our stay.
This is a great property with an amazing view of harbour from the deck. It is conveniently located near cafes, shopping, and downtown nightlife. My family were all able to enjoy their own private spaces as well as the communal locations- the loft and deck were favorites!
Beautiful views and great location (especially if you are a walker or hiker). Well stocked for 5 adults and 2 kids. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book again.
We enjoyed our stay at Cliffside Cottage - loved seeing the coming and going in the port, walking to downtown attractions and hiking the Signal Hill trails. The house is very comfortable for a family-size group; it's well-maintained, and except for the odd noisy vehicle or
bit of port hubbub, it is a quiet neighbourhood.
This property is the perfect distance for walking into town or walking on the Signal Hill trails. Great loft and deck upstairs to start the day with a coffee or end the day with a glass of wine and look out onto the bay and watch the boats. Would come again.
An incredible view of the harbour. We could have stayed in the top floor "nook" all day and been satisfied. Fortunately the rest of the property was great as well - clean, well equipped, nicely decorated and spacious. We had a wifi issue that was dealt with as quickly as possible. Absolutely no complaints.Highly recommended.
Nice older home situated at the top of Battery Road. We enjoyed the gorgeous view from the indoor sitting area and outside deck. This is where we enjoyed our coffee in the mornings and drinks in the late afternoon. The house was comfortable for six people. The bedrooms were a little small with luggage and lots of stairs.
Our family of four travelled to St John’s for the first time for a wedding in July. Caribou cottage made a memorable first impression!! Excellent beds/bedding in large rooms with lots of closet and storage space. Kitchen was very clean and well appointed. Fantastic location within walking distance to shops and hikes. The best part has to be the loft and views. The third story is so cosy and was the perfect place for a nightcap and visit after a busy day. Great host and great property!!

First Trip to St John's
The house was perfect to end our family vacation. I love to cook on vacation and the kitchen had everything I needed to do just that. The different levels in the home provided privacy when needed. The view from the third level was beautiful. You could see the city of St. John's, the harbour and the narrows into the harbour. My husband and I hiked the coastline of Signal Hill - amazing! Downtown was within walking distance. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay in your beautiful home.

A beautiful house in an amazing location!
This house is wonderful with lots of space. Having different levels allowed our family to spread out. The favourite spot was the deck on the third level and the adjoining sunroom. Rochelle has thought of everything and the house is well set up. The view is terrific, and being on the Signal Hill walk was the a perfect place to be, though still a very easy walk downtown. We would book it again in a second, and hope to come back some day. Thank you for everything.

Great Accommodation & Location!!
This is a wonderful home to stay at if you are visiting St. John's. We were a group of 8 adults travelling around Newfoundland and spent 3 nights at this location. There was plenty of space, the home was spotless, well equipped, location was amazing and all our dealings with Rochelle were seamless. The highlight of the house is the top floor where you can relax after a day of sightseeing and enjoy the harbour activity or simply just enjoy the view!! From right outside our door we were able to access the hiking trail up to Signal Hill which was fun. We also took advantage of the close proximity to Signal Hill to watch the sunrise at 4:30am. :) We all agreed that this would be a home we would be happy to stay at again!!!! Very satisfied travellers!!!!!!!

Visiting St Johns
Positives-Property was well located. Easy walk to downtown. House was nicely set up.
Top floor had lovely sun room and deck overlooking the harbour.
Negatives- There are quite a few stairs to the bedrooms. Only one upstairs bathroom to be shared by four bedrooms. Water pressure in downstairs bathroom, off kitchen, is poor making the shower useless. Parking area is small and your vehicle is sticking out into the roadway. And there’s only room for one car.
The cottage is old. The floors are uneven and the doors to the upstairs rooms don’t close well.
And the beds are terrible. Hard and very uncomfortable. The pillows are poor quality.
A VRBO must have good beds. This one did not, which is unfortunate because the cottage was charming. It would have received a higher rating if not for those beds.

Location, view, space, amenities.
The Battery Bluff Cottage had it all. Check-in was a breeze. All appropriate info we needed was included beforehand. Parking for our rental car was right out front, although with such a great location, a car was not needed in the city. Only for exploring further afield. 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Ample towels, glassware, coffee filters etc. Everthing we needed. Fantastic view from the upper room with the balcony overlooking the harbour. Wet bar with glassware up there, so no need to go all the way downstairs to stock up. House is set against the gorgeous rock cliff, which is seen through the rear windows, and can be enjoyed with patio chairs on the lower level. Beds were comfortable. Large open kitchen/living room/dining area. From the front door, walk to Signal Hill via the upper trail or the stunning lower trail along the cliffside.
Our group of 6 agreed: if we came back to St. John's we would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Only small quibble was the lack of water pressure in the showers, but that didn't matter to us at all. An ipod player, or similar, like a lot of VRBO properties have would be an added bonus, but we came equipped so no matter.
Thanks Rochelle!!

This property exceeded our expectations. The property was beautiful, spacious, and well equipped. The view was out of this world. Thank you for making our first trip to Newfoundland so special.
We love staying here. It's our second time and a perfect location to have as a base. Clean & comfortable for larger group and the views are amazing. Great place to hang out in Sunroom and watch all the port activity!
The house is just has shown or even better. Great location. Walked the trails right outside our door, walked to George street and Quidi Vidi. Highly recommend
What a perfect home for our family vacation! With 7 of us we had more then enough space and areas to sit and chat, cook and enjoy our time together. We spent most evenings up in the loft enjoying the spectacular views! The roof top balcony was one of the best spots. Location perfect for walking to many restaurants, sight seeing locations. We would recommend for any family, group of friends, etc. Fantastic time by all.

I am a born and bred Newfoundlander. I was born on the west coast, lived in Labrador for many years and even longer in St. John's. I have always dreamed of owning a property on the Battery....one of the truly spectacular, unique areas in the world. This cottage will allow me to share this special place with old and new friends. So if you want to visit home, take that dream trip, explore an amazing place, Battery Bluff Cottage is for you.
Why they chose this property
Outport living in the City. Views, walking trails, historic sites, unique city life and a beautiful home....what more could you wish for?
What makes this property unique
St. John's, our province's capital, is the perfect combination of big-city luxury and small-town charm. As the oldest and most easterly city in North America, this is where heritage lives. Melded with culture, history, and personality, St. John's has survived two World Wars, five centuries, countless hardships and triumphs. It's become a rare, old city full of character, experience and charisma, with a contemporary, sophisticated edge.
Wander down the narrow, criss-crossing streets carved by horse and carriage over 100 years ago. Pass the colourful jellybean row houses wedged together in every space lining the sides of steep hills and hidden alleyways. Once you've meandered down to the working harbour of the waterfront, look towards the Narrows and imagine a time when the waters were brimming full with fishing schooners.
Visit Quidi Vidi, our charming village-within-a-city, which still embodies the spirit of an old fishing outport. Then, hike up nearby Signal Hill through the famous Battery, where tiny wooden homes still cling valiantly to cliffsides ravaged by ocean waves. The unmistakable, iconic Cabot Tower guards the top of Signal Hill, where military men guarded our shores throughout the 1700s and 1800s. Here, Marconi famously received his first transmission across the Atlantic in 1901. Look out over the cliffs and watch the city's harbour and captivating skyline spread out before you. Perched on the top of the horizon is The Rooms, home to our provincial museum, art gallery and archives, standing next to the striking twin clock towers of the Basilica of St. John the Baptist.
As you explore the history of this place, shop at the many fine boutiques, shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs, and art galleries lining our streets. In the evening, sit back, relax, and enjoy live music or local theatre where actors will whisk you away to another place and time.
