The host ignored our emails prior to us arriving and then didn't provide enough information for us to find the apartment (no apartment number or instructions about how to access the apartment), so we were left on the street at 11.30pm with no phone, no way to contact the host and no way to get anywhere else. An absolute nightmare. Thankfully Astana is a safe city with friendly people who helped us find a hotel. I'm still not sure it wasn't a scam but we did get our money back - after we returned home and after paying much more to find alternate accommodation for our stay. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS HOST.
