Wonderful Stay
My family and I had a wonderful stay at this location. Everyone enjoyed the house, rooms were comfortable, well appointed. Kitchen/dining room were fully equipped and a nice size. Location in DC could not have been better. Would definitely recommend and definitely come again. Michael the host was accessible and helpful. My family and I will remember this for a very long time. :)

Great place for large family group
We stayed here for our annual holiday family get together. With 4 young children, the space spread out over 2 floors worked well for us. The bedrooms are large and beds comfortable. The kitchen is also large with 2 refrigerators, dishwasher, oven, and microwave. One refrigerator has no shelves but we used it to store drinks and large items. The dishwasher needs a bit of attention but I am sure Michael will take care of it. Two nice big flat screen TVs; one upstairs and one downstairs. The downstairs living room was great for the children to play. The unit was cozy, well heated, and apparently with thick walls as sound did not resonate throughout the entire place. The location worked well - close to the metro so we only used our car once. Parking for 2 vehicles in the back worked for us with a minivan and SUV but it is tight. The 4 star rating for communication with owner is due to a glitch in email and phone system. Once resolved, Michael was available and quick to respond to our questions and very helpful. I would recommend this unit if you are visiting DC With a larger group.

Convenient location to Eastern Market/metro
Great location - walkable to Eastern Market/Barracks Row area and metro We had 9 women for a girls weekend and had plenty of room for all. Only tough part was parking cars in back - very narrow alley! Welcome to DC rowhouse living- ha!

About the host

Hosted by Michael Weisskopf

Host profile image
As a former newspaper/magazine reporter who has covered Asia and the Middle East, I began developing rental and condo buildings 15 years ago, turning a love of travel into a passion for hosting travelers. I spend my idle hours in front of books and movie screens, looking for ideas to enhance my rental properties. My wife and co-host, Rebekah, enjoy introducing visitors to them and the nation's capital.

Why they chose this property

I used to roam Capitol Hill as a young reporter covering Congress and fell in love with its historic resonance amid Victorian homes, tree-laned streets and watering holes. I had saved enough money in subsequent overseas assignments to realize a dream of actually buying and renovating a home close to haunts I enjoyed years earlier.

What makes this property unique

The Charmer marries history with comfort, a launching pad to the many wonders of Capitol Hill.
