You will not have this experience anywhere else. The property is fun and the house is historic - built in the 1700 but updated enough for 21 century people to enjoy.

Beautiful, tranquil, and cozy!
Amy was a top-rate host. She took the time to help us with an unforeseen issue, and made time to show my girls around the farm. Anyone will love an experience at Palmyra. A true home away from home!
We had a wonderful time at this historic and lovingly restored farmhouse. You are out on a farm so you have to be willing to drive a bit, but if you are, there is plenty to do in any direction. We had a great time swimming in the James, taking nature walks, visiting small towns and just hanging with the family. We loved meeting the lovely hosts and getting to feed the piglets and cows. We learned so much! Highly recommend.
Evrything went very smooth for check in. They key was where is was supposed to be and everything was ready for our arrival.
The owners were easy to get in touch with if needed and they responded quickly to the few questions that arose.
Their farm is a unique and special place. All of the animals were friendly and enjoyed a visit now and then. My wife misses the horses already. 🙏❤️. Beautiful, quite piece of history.
Amy and Michael are such a great couple! We went for a weekend stay and feel like we have friends for life. Amy let us feed the animals with her Saturday morning and explained the history of the farm. Sunday Michael loaded up the kayaks , canoe, and paddle boards then drove them to a beautiful waterway about 5 miles away. He got us launched then left the truck and trailer for us to drive back when we were ready. The house is absolutely pristine and restored to its early 1800s glory. We were greeted by beautiful sunflowers and there were fresh eggs in the refrigerator. Of course we couldn’t leave without buying their honey and grass fed meat. We can’t wait to go back! Thanks Amy and Michael!!!
We has a wonderful weekend stay. Our kids (and the parents) really enjoyed meeting all the farm animals (bull, cows, goats, chickens, dogs, and lots of pigs) as well as picking blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. We spent a lot of time just enjoying relaxing on the porch swing and exploring the farm but also enjoyed local sights such as Bacon's castle, Chippokes state park and biking around Jamestown . Amy and Michael were gracious hosts and encouraged us to freely explore the farm. The house was clean and comfortable with a great blend of historic integrity and modern conveniences. We highly recommend a visit for families.
I grew up on a farm nearby and greatly enjoyed this weekend with my husband, my daughter & her husband and 2 children (4 & 6).
The kids liked discovering the house and made a game of “who will sleep in this room”. The house was just the right size for us, had all the amenities we needed and was very comfortable on a very cold weekend! Had the weather been warmer, we would have explored the farm and met more farm animals. We enjoyed visiting the goats at the Hampton winery (unfortunately the goats were not climbing their tower!), drove past my childhood farm, visited the “spring” at Spring Hill Church and reveled in the ever beautiful Spring Hill millpond! Thank you for a wonderful and unique experience!
This is a very cute historic house on a large farm. We had fun in Smithfield and enjoyed the quiet nature of this location. We really, really enjoyed our eggs and sausage that came from the farm. In fact, we bought more sausage to take home!
What a beautiful step back in time. Between my 14 year old, my 41 year old self, and 69 year old mom...no need for TV here! (Although they did have one if you want). Charming farmhouse brimming with the feel of past generations, clean, stocked with pots and pans and lots of cozy blankets. We enjoyed waking up to the sound of hungry cows. Visiting the animals down the road...is that a sheep or a pig?! They were all so cute. The farm fresh eggs in the fridge were so good. And looking at the beautiful stars every night...amazing. My favorite time was sitting on the porch swing while Mom sat in the rocking chair and we watched my daughter talking to the cows. The calves were so cute and spunky...like puppies. Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking to unplug, play cards, and get away from city life.
Our stay at the inn was very lovely and cozy, and we appreciated how beautiful the furnishings were. The kitchen was very well equipped for the cooking that we did, and the hosts generously provided sausage and eggs from their farm for our stay. It was quite rainy so we didn’t get an opportunity to explore the area as much as we would have liked, but we did meet some very talkative cows who were fun to watch. We also appreciated the great communication with Amy and Brenda througout the booking process. Overall we would definitely stay here again and we recommend the inn to anyone who is looking for a peaceful retreat to the countryside. Thanks for the hospitality!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Palmyra Inn. It was very peaceful to be on the farm surrounded by cows, cornfields and forests. We spent many hours wandering the fields and the woods with our 2 little dogs. Really beautiful and, best of all, we felt blessedly far away from the bustle of Northern Virginia where we live. Amy and Michael are superb hosts, very gracious and helpful, not to mention friendly. Plus they left us fresh-laid eggs and very, very delicious sausage which made for some outstanding breakfasts.
We had a wonderful respite at the Palmyra Inn. We were looking for a change in scenery which we enjoyed in spades- watching the sun set over the field was a treat. The house had what we needed, including extra blankets for a few chilly nights. Thank you, Amy, for the brief tour and for your sincere hospitality!
We stayed at the farm for two nights with our young children and a dog a had a wonderful time. The house is lovely and well-equipped for guests, the setting could not be more peaceful, what issues emerged were dealt with promptly. The kids enjoyed visiting the farm and feeding the animals. We also took a trip to Williamsburg which was quite convenient. Looking forward to returning some day.
Read the other 5 star reviews!! Excellent, accommodating, and friendly hosts, this property will not disappoint. Great place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life (although you have the option to check-in with family/work via wi-fi). It had everything we needed for our getaway with our two boys under ten. The porch is perfect for relaxing and listening to the sounds of nature. The boys were able to entertain themselves in the huge yard and on the farm, but we were also close enough to the Jamestown Ferry (free) to do some sightseeing/educational activities at the Settlement with them as well. Chippokes Plantation is definitely also on our list to spend a day or two exploring next time. We had a great meal at Surry Seafood Company on our way home off the ferry one day, they have gorgeous water views. This will not be our last trip to Palmyra Inn and we hope to take our family from overseas when they make it back over for a visit.

An absolutely excellent experience!
Mike and Amy could not have been better hosts! The farmhouse was absolutely gorgeous and stocked with everything that my family needed. There was nothing stressful about our stay and we were able to really just chill out and enjoy our time together. Mike and Amy were kind enough to give us a tour of the farm which my little girl loved. There is very limited cell service and no major shopping close by
For us this was a plus. Thank you Amy and Mike for everything..we will certainly be back!

Simply Wonderful!
If I could choose more stars, I would! We arrived to an adorable home, which was exactly what we expected and more. The Drewry family was so kind and helpful. We flew all the way from California with 4 children, and when we saw just how perfect this sweet little farm house was, we couldn't wait to check everything out. The house had everything you could need. Plenty of towels and bedding, and a kitchen with all the cooking utensils. The horses and cows on the property were a highlight for our kiddos. We loved feeding them and spending the evenings watching all the animals. We also loved the fireflies. I had never seen one before, and It was amazing!! My favorite thing about the house by far, was the front porch swing. Every single night we would sit on the porch swing and enjoy the peaceful farm life and watch the fireflies.
This house is located in a great spot. It's about a 10-15 minute drive to the Jamestown Ferry, around 3 hours to DC, and about an 1 1/2 hours from Virginia Beach. We loved being able to sight see and explore and come back to a wonderful home.
I have taken many vacations in my life, but this vacation was one I have truly missed. I miss so much about this sweet house and the memories we've made here. If you are thinking about booking here, do it!! You will not regret it.
