Beautiful plants and garden. Lovely place close to Charlottesville and a small town to walk to for coffee and food. Highly recommend! Very quaint with a lot of character.
I rented this house for my son and his groomsmen for his wedding weekend and everything went perfectly! Atieno was so nice to work with and made everything run smoothly. Would rent again!
We had a great stay in this charming old house. Plenty of space for the kids to roam, and very close to lots of activities around Crozet. Our host, Atieno, was very informative, helpful, and kind!
My family and I were in town for my sister's baby shower. Atieno's home was so warm and cozy, we immediately felt right at home. The location was perfect, just right around the corner from the grocery, coffee shop, and local breweries and wineries. Highly recommend!
My friends and I stayed for a long weekend at this beautiful home in Crozet. It had everything we needed, great outdoor space, fully stocked kitchen, and plenty of room for 4 adults, and our dogs. The owner was awesome, very communicative with us, and easy to reach. The house is in a great location to all the wineries and breweries in the area. We would definitely stay here again, our dogs loved it too!

Great location for get together weekend!
The house was perfect for a get away weekend for a group of friends to get together. Location was great - we walked to several restaurants in Crozet, easily drove out for a hike in Sugar Hollow, and it was central to the vineyards. The house itself was lovely, the kitchen was well equipped, and the back deck area was perfecr for morning coffee and evening cocktails. There were fresh flowers throughout the house that made it welcoming. We had a great time and would highly recommend this place!

Sorry I'm just seeing this, Summer. Thank you and welcome back anytime! - Atieno Bird at Crozet Trolley
There is a lot to do in the area but the house can certainly accommodate just hanging out and relaxing, too. We enjoyed pumpkin/apple picking, Monticello, running around with our dog in the backyard and the kids loved the swing options as well as the neighbor's chickens! We also appreciated being invited to the neighborhood Halloween festivities. Crozet is very close by with several coffee and restaurant options for those who want a break from cooking.

Beautifully renovated farmhouse close to Charlottesville!
My friends and I enjoyed our stay in Crozet, VA. The farmhouse has a beautifully renovated kitchen that is great for entertaining, with a large and open dining room and sunroom. The bedrooms were spacious and each bathroom had been updated nicely. This house is best suited for 4 adults and 2 children, since one of the bedrooms is a child’s room with bunk beds.
There is a nice fire pit in the backyard which was perfect for a crisp fall evening.
Overall this house was the perfect place to stay, convenient to the mountains, wineries, and downtown Charlottesville.
Stayed here for a family wedding. The house was beautiful, wonderfully clean, and very comfortable. My husband and I stayed in the primary bedroom, our adult son used the second bedroom and our teenage son was going to use the loft bed but found it to be a bit too tight for him. We had no problem switching him to the pull out bed in the office. So happy to have found this home, will definitely book again in the future!
The house is in a great neighborhood with Crozet Elementary’s massive playground and fields just a short walk away. Walk to coffee shops and Crozet Pizza too. The fenced in yard was great for our dog! The house is very comfortable and has all the essentials. We did have a 20 month old with us and the floor transitions and easy to grab, delicate items made it a bit more challenging to let him roam though the backyard was perfect for him. My children 9 and 5 loved it though and appreciated the board games, easy to work TV and swing in the yard.
Overall great place!
This is a unique property in a rather nice part of Central Virginia - Crozet is a nice town with very friendly people and some nice restaurants, breweries, etc. It's also only a few minutes away from Charlottesville and attractions like Monticello (Jefferson) and Highline (Monroe). Although we didn't meet them, the owners are responsive and clearly have good taste in decor and amenities. The only reason that I gave this four stars in one category rather than five is that - no fault of the owners, it's the time of the year - there were a ton of mosquitoes, a few wasps, and other insects in the spacious, inviting backyard, reducing our ability to enjoy it to the fullest (but, again, that's August in the mid-Atlantic and the South for you). I would definitely recommend a stay!
The Bird family were amazing hosts.
The location was great to walk downtown Crozet.
We chose not to bring any food or leftovers into the home because we were warned about mice and there were ants in the trash can. The Birds did warn us about this in advance but we didn’t want to risk it.
Pictures are accurate but if you prefer a more updated home you might want to look somewhere else.
If you are a group of adults, there are really only two suitable beds for sleeping.
This house is so charming! My family of 5 stayed for a wedding in Crozet. The house worked perfectly. We were able to walk to town for coffee and then lunch (at a great BBQ place called Smoked Kitchen). The neighborhood/area is beautiful and safe. We choose houses over hotels due to food allergies and the need for a kitchen. This kitchen worked great and felt very clean. There is a lovely sun room to which we all gravitated. Also lovely porches where we enjoyed quiet, flowers and birdsong. The owner was extremely accommodating regarding parking when we thought some extended family may come by to visit at the last minute (which they ended up not doing). I would highly recommend and will definitely stay again when we are in the area. We toured UVA with our teen on the way out of town and it’s an easy distance if you like a more rural feel (which we do).

Christine we are so happy you enjoyed the house and location. The birdsong is my favorite too! Please do come again!
Perfect. I requested this property the night before arrival as a last minute getaway for my husband and I with our dog. Mrs. Bird responded within minutes and what I didnt know was that we were about to be welcomed with the hospitality of top notch B&B when in actuality The Bird family graciously vacated their home last minute and made us feel like relatives coming in from out of town to stay the weekend. Our dog was in heaven exploring the 1.5acre fenced in yard. She was perhaps a little too familiar with the carriage house guests as curiosity got the best of her one morning when the outdoor shower was used (I am so sorry!!). We loved the back deck fire bowl to enjoy the brisk evenings and there is dry wood sold at the IGA. The kitchen has a gorgeous gas stove and is fully stocked with everything you need to make a gourmet meal although if you are a professional chef…dont forget to bring your own sharpened knives (its an unreasonable ask for a VRBO property to keep up!) You will compost and recycle but the Bird family has a lovely notebook of detailed instructions answering every question from how to work the fireplaces to how and why you want to countertop compost (and restaurant gauge!). The house is an antique with modern updates so when we woke up and realized the charming crisp air was lingering because the pilot light blew out…Mrs and Mr Bird immediately responded and offered to come over or talk us through the restart pending our preference and within minutes we had a cozy warmth throughout the home. The holiday lights outside and the Christmas tree inside got us in the mood and we stumbled upon the Crozet Winter Brewfest saturday on our bikes which was this lovely outdoor gathering of dogs, neighbors, breweries, musicians, food trucks, fire bowls, and craftsmen. We purchased holiday gifts, enjoyed the beer and honey tasting and collected a few stickers for our teenagers water bottle collection and a good time was had by all on a lovely sunny Saturday and we couldnt help but feel a little jealous of the hometown winter weekend ambience in this community where we were welcomed like old friends. Mudhouse Coffee is dog walking distance away! Home is perfectly appointed, cozy, and spacious. Towels were plentiful. Be careful showering in the master bath as it’s easy to get water all over the floor without a shower curtain but lots of towels are provided and the floors are heated in winter. Hospitality=A+. Thank you!

Nelle, it was such a pleasure to have you. Although we didn't meet face to face there were so many little ways you proved yourself a thoughtful and warm guest; we really appreciate you. Please come back anytime for some Crozet hospitality!
If you're looking for a weekend to pretend you live in a charming small town near wineries, Charlottesville, and hiking.... You've found it! This deceptively large house is a home so you'll really feel you've moved to the neighborhood. Walkable to a great local coffee shop. Only note is that two of the bedrooms are loft twins. Super fun looking but ultimately maybe scary for younger kids (mine panicked about falling out at night and slept with us instead).
We had an amazing restorative time in this lovely home. The pictures do not come close to showing how wonderful the home is. Open area kitchen so beautifully restored. We loved sitting in the sunroom. The location is outstanding with walking access to shops in Crozet and the highway to Charlottesville, Shenandoah National Park, Staunton and Nelson 151. Thank you!
Host was great. House very unique and well stocked.

About the host
Hosted by Atieno Bird
We moved from the Northeast quadrant of Washington DC in 2016 to be close to the mountains, to extended family, and to a greener, calmer lifestyle. We work in real estate and mental health coaching and run the Crozet Trolley Co., providing visitors a fun way to enjoy Albemarle's agritourism destinations.
Why they chose this property
Our family of four loves living in Crozet, so close to the mountains and full of friendly people, and with dozens of agritourism destinations within twenty minutes drive. This property is walking distance from cafes and restaurants but feels secluded. It's also one of a handful of historic properties in town.
What makes this property unique
The combination of walkability and space/privacy/safety/nature is hard to find. Many properties provide one or the other but not both. It's also rare to find a charming older property, especially one that is well renovated. If the beauty of your space matters to your vacation experience, this is your find.
