A newly renovated home with privacy and walking access to Kennebunkport. Enjoy the best of both worlds: a historic home on the site of the original school house from 1820 combined with the luxury of modern amenities.

Relax in the private garden courtyard or on the back deck and enjoy the peaceful views of Mast Cove. Or walk to the “Port” and take in all it has to offer. A cozy gas fireplace in living room is ready for rainy days. This historic home is close to all beaches, Cape Porpoise and Goose Rocks Beach. This gambrel style home has been completely renovated from the foundation to the landscaping. 1,730 square feet includes - two floors with kitchen, dinning, living room, den, 3/4 bath on first floor and three bedrooms and full bath on second.

Beyond the deck lies the tidal waters of Mast Cove where you can bird watch or sit and enjoy the evening. If history is your passion, tour the neighborhood and view all the other historic homes.

Wow— impeccable interior design with top notch linens, towels, cookware and decor. The Christmas decorations and lights on timers welcomed us when we arrived. Location was perfect. Parking generous for a big SUV and second car.

Wonderful mixture of a historic home, updated with designer flare and creature comforts. Everything you may want in a rental was there. The location is perfect. Five minute walk to dock square yet away from the crowds in a beautiful historic neighborhood. Would definitely visit again.

A lovely stay in Kennebunkport

This school house is very charming. The location is a quick walk to town, which is nice. And the house itself is small, but thoughtfully designed and laid out- and the decor is really pretty. Overall, I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking to experience Kennebunkport.

Kennebunkport Keeper!

This stunner of a home was not only comfortable, clean and centrally located, the thoughtfulness of the hosts came through with little extras like travel size toothpaste for guests. We had an absolutely wonderful time and walked everywhere. Plenty of linens, basic supplies and extras provided. The house itself was beautiful.

Prime location

My family and I loved our stay at this house. The location is terrific - right near downtown Kennebunkport but walking distance to both Kennebunk and Cape Porpoise also. The house was immaculate and spacious, with several living areas where we could read, watch TV or play games and is equipped with everything you could possibly want - even Sonos and phone chargers, We sat outside daily on the patio enjoying all the birds and peaceful surroundings. Brett was very responsive whenever I contacted him and even got me a reservation at a completely booked restaurant. Thank you again for that! We all had a wonderful time!

Designed for the Perfect Stay.

Modernized 200 year old school house renovated for comfort and elegance. House is bright and cheerful, is absolutely spotless, and has every convenience. Lovely back porch for a sunset cocktail. The Host is an excellent communicator and will go beyond expectations to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Located in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood 3 blocks from the center of town. Perfect for short walk to lunch or dinner, or an evening stroll for ice cream. And you will pass by the most beautiful historic mansions along the way! This house is a treat for the soul!

Amazing home steps away from downtown

My family and I stayed for a week. The home was perfect for my family and everything we wanted to do. It is less than a five minute walk from town, you can’t beat the location. The beach is a five minute drive away and we never had problems finding parking. The house is well equipped, it had everything we needed. We made several meals with ease and enjoyed the beautiful kitchen. We also enjoyed sitting on the decks and the peace of the backyard. Brett is an amazing host. I can’t speak more highly of him. He was super responsive throughout our stay and nicely offered to mail back a tie we left.I would stay here again and would stay at any of Brett’s other properties if he has them.

Could not have had a better stay!

Our stay at the old schoolhouse kpt was amazing. From the time I hit the accept button on homeaway till we left the house from our trip every interaction with the owner was wonderful. They gave us amazing recommendations, the house had all the conveniences of new but the charm of old. Everything was clean and so nice as well as a great proximity from all the things in town. I could write a dissertation about what a great experience this was for my family and I but I will leave you with this.... Brett made me feel so taken care of The house was everything and more that we had hoped for My mom was celebrating her 60th and Brett made her feel so loved by leaving champagne, banner, and a card for her, we were blown away by this experience. We will be back and this is the only place to stay in my option. Thank you Brett for an amazing experience, a lovely home, and a warm welcome. You and the home exceeded all our expectations!!!!

Lovely Home Perfectly Located

I booked this for my older parents for the month of September. It was a wonderful spot, beautifully decorated, with complete amenities. Brett was very responsive throughout the stay. The kitchen area is perfect for communing with the family, playing card games, etc. It overlooks a wonderful terrace with a firepit. Having both a living and family area offer plenty of spaces to have different things going on in the house (Football game in one room, quieter setting in the other, etc) Bathrooms are nice and functional, beds are very comfortable and linens are top end. Staircases is a little tricky (more of a note for older people like my parents). Location is absolutely ideal; walkable to dock square, easy access to Cape Porpoise, goose rocks beach, gooches. Overall I would book this again. I do think the home charges a premium, and there are better price/value options in the area if you book earlier than we did. And while we were provided contact information for a cleaner to arrange and pay directly, I would expect that a month rental at this price would include a weekly cleaning service.

Best 6 weeks in a long time!

I wouldn’t stay anywhere other than 6 School Street in Kennebunkport. The location is PERFECT as it is a 5-8 min walk to town and restaurants. The house is quaint and extremely well decorated and appointed. Brett went above and beyond to make my 6-week stay comfortable. I learned a lot from him as a host. You can tell he really wants you to enjoy your stay and goes above and beyond which is rare in this often-transactional rental business. He found me a dog boarder, a mail service location, and helped me with my TV questions, etc.. He was always very responsive and helpful. A wonderful home provided the perfect stay for me!

The house is beautiful - historical with all of the modern amenities that you'd want on vacation. I thought the location was perfect - quiet and on the edge of town but just a five minute walk to the hustle and bustle in KPT....in other words, no need to deal with trying to find a parking space for dinner or shopping.

My family and I had a wonderful time here! Wish we could have stayed longer. Everything about this house was just, easy. The house is clean, updated, and has everything you need from kitchen items to beach towels to a washer/dryer. It’s a short walk to town which has a ton of fun shops and restaurants. The beds are also incredibly comfortable which was a nice surprise. Lastly, Brett the host was always super responsive. All you need to do is show up and everything else is already taken care of. We will definitely be back!

We stayed in the beautiful home for two weeks and could not have been more pleased with the home’s amenities, the location close to the port - restaurant and shopping are steps away - and the graciousness of the hosts. Beautifully decorated and very close to shops and restaurants!

Had an amazing week at this wonderful schoolhouse/updated house. Anything we needed was there and every room is comfortable and usable. The schoolhouse is still present somehow, but it’s made into a very cozy space. Brett was a pleasure to work with as well!

Kennebunkport Charm

My wife, toddler and I were completely satisfied with the property. The house is well designed, full of all the little supplies that make it feel like home, and was well situated for walks into town, down Ocean Avenue, or over to Gooch's/Mother's Beach. Brett was quite welcoming, and available for any questions or issues during our stay. We loved the charm of the house and are already planning our return trip!

Perfect home in a perfect location

My husband and I wanted a last minute trip to Maine and came to stay at bretts House! It was super clean and wonderfully appointed, and the home was right in town and walkable to shops / resturaunts. We were welcomed with a nice personal note and bottle of wine and very clear instructions for the home. Thanks for a wonderful stay and being an amazing host!

Exceptional Home

Our visit to Kennebunkport was fantastic! This home is beautiful mix of luxury and comfort. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need from pots and pans, utensils, a keurig machine and wine glasses. The bed linens are of superior quality and everyone in our party slept very well. We had forgotten toothpaste and found that the bathroom was stocked with travel size items and additional toiletries. The location of this home is incredible, we walked into town several times a day as well as to the ocean. The host, Brett, is incredibly responsive and thoughtful. We were sad to go and are already looking forward to a return visit.

We have always had a love of travel and we are happy to share our home with you and your family/friends. We have always loved our trips to Kennebunkport and recently decided that this was the only place we could see ourselves buying a vacation home. Kennebunkport offers so many things to do and see that you will want to keep coming back to explore. From beautiful beaches (Goose Rocks, Gooch's, etc), amazing restaurants (Earth at Hidden Pond, The Tides, Batson River, The Ramp, Pedros and more) and cute shops and galleries...there is plenty to do in Kennebunkport year round.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property the minute we walked in. The location is absolutely amazing...we love that we are able to walk downtown, in roughly2 minutes, and can eat at dozens of different restaurants, shop for groceries at the market or do some shopping. We both were instantly drawn to the charming character that a 200 year old home offers, but appreciated that the kitchen and baths had all been newly renovated to meet our modern expectations. We also love the privacy that the home offers.
