You're going to be transported away from the stress of life as you sit back and soak in the hot tub while listening to the wind through the trees as the birds serenade the sky turning pink & purple over the Smoky Mountains. We purposely tucked our adorable Tiny Home into the woods to achieve the peaceful retreat you're looking for. You'll feel like the "Little Red Riding Hood" skipping through the woods as you escape the "Big Bad Wolf" of technology and stress. Evenings around the Firepit w/the stars are simply magical! Tiny Home Living is amazing!!!! We can't wait to share it with you.
If you want to watch cable TV, talk on your Cell Phone, check your Email, and surf the Internet then you should look for a different cabin. If you'd like to get away from all of that so that you can "disconnect in order to reconnect" then this is the PERFECT cabin for you! Read the reviews. Look through the photos. Then book your vacation and get ready to enjoy the life changing memories you'll make in the mountains at "Little Red."
We will provide you with a personally curated guide book to the best activities in the local area. Some of our favorites are our "secret water hole", hiking to the "backside" of the mountain or a section of the Appalachian Trail, boating on the lake, white water rafting on the Nantahala River, and sitting around the firepit at the end of the day enjoying a grilled dinner and watching the stars above in a way you've never seen them before.

We love to share our #NantahalaVacations properties with like minded outdoor enthusiasts looking to disconnect from cell service, social media, and the office email for a true vacation. Basking in the misty morning sunrise over the Smoky Mountains, going hiking on the Bartram and Appalachian Trails, white water rafting and fly fishing the Nantahala River, jet skiing on the Nantahala Lake, cliff jumping at a secret water hole, and then returning to a nice grilled dinner and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit, gazing at the beauty of a brilliant star filled sky...these are the kinds of things we and our guests enjoy. But, it's hard to do all of that in just one stay, so we're looking forward to hosting you again....soon!
This adorable tiny home was so perfect for a quick weekend anniversary getaway for me and my husband. Everything was so clean and the owner was very quick to answer any questions! We enjoyed unplugging and hope we have an opportunity to do it again soon!

So glad you found us and were able to experience what VACATIONS should be like. Don't know why we let ourselves get so caught up with technology that we need a "digital detox" - but oh how good it feels!

Cute cabin, no privacy
The tiny cabin was wonderful. The only disappointments were that we were specifically looking for privacy and a hot tub to relax in. In the winter, the cabin is not private at all. Both of the other rental cabins can see right into your cabin and you can hear each other’s conversations if you’re outside. The hot tub wasn’t able to handle the cold either. We had a good time, but not at all what we thought we were getting.

We love to share our Tiny Home with outdoor enthusiasts looking for an escape. Little Red is one of 3 cabins we own on our 6 acre mountainside. There's at least 2 NYC blocks between each cabin and several hundred feet of elevation change. When the wind blows the right way, while you can faintly hear that someone might be enjoying the fire pit at one of the other cabins , you definitely can't make out what they're saying. When the leaves are down in the winter it does open the view slightly, but there's definitely not anyone peaking in the windows, unless they brought binoculars and are more interested in your vacation than their own. Even then, we have blinds on all the windows. As for the hot tub, this is our first winter offering a hot tub at the tiny home. Due to Covid-19 the only one available was a blow up option. We have learned that many other hot tub vacation rentals are only available seasonally. When temps get into the teens at night, it's just hard for the heating units to keep up with 200 gallons of cold water. Still, we've ordered a hard side tub and are just waiting on the unit to become available from back order and to shipped to the cabin. Thank you so much for the feedback! We're so glad you enjoyed experiencing Tiny Home living and are looking forward to having you back, when our new hot tub arrives.
Fantastic experience. Great getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Mike was a fantastic host!

We do love to share our cabins with like-minded outdoor enthusiasts, who don't mind leaving the cell phone behind for a weekend in the mountains, to enjoy all the beauty that nature provides. Looking forward to having you back again.
We enjoyed the location of this property and the tiny home was neat. Totally remote….perfect for a couples retreat and a recharge.

It really is amazing to be secluded in the mountains, out of cell reception, to be able to reconnect with the ones we love to be with. No distractions. Only beautiful 360 °views.
Right at the beginning of spring, my girlfriend surprised me with a getaway here for my birthday. It was literally perfect: quiet, peaceful, away from the masses. It was perfect for us. We got to spend time away from the noise of our daily lives, and relax in this romantic tiny cabin!
During the days we were there, we hiked on the trail on the property, and did more hiking, zip-lining, and rafting nearby. During the evenings, we came back to the cabin, and had burgers and steak, and s’mores over the campfire, while enjoying the privacy, peace, and tranquility of the nature around us.
The cabin itself is surrounded with windows, so we opened the blinds and cracked a couple windows at night, such that we got up to an awakening forest every morning.
Being away here for a few days was therapeutic in a way. So much so, that I opted to bring my girlfriend back here at the end of August to kick off her birthday week. There is a ton to do in the area, and waking up and coming back to our little getaway each night really rounds out the experience. We had as great a time as we did back in April, except now, there’s a hot tub!
We had amazing experiences then and now. We will definitely continue to come back! The “feel” of this cabin is something I don’t think I can adequately describe in a review. Honestly, you’ll just have to check it out :-)

AMEN TO THAT!!!! We love you guys! You "get it". Looking forward to many more stays at the cabin - and maybe even getting to meet you in person after I retire from the Air Force.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay for our honeymoon! This little cabin is very cozy, and clean. There's a fairly long drive down the mountain to enjoy some of the local attractions. But we loved the calm quite area where Little Red was tucked away. It was a great little home for us!
We enjoyed rafting down the river, beautiful hikes, and canoeing around the lake.

The pinnacle of success for us as hosts is when someone trusts us enough to spend their honeymoon in our cabin! We started our own marriage 23 years ago that way - so you're off to the right start. Now you have to come again every year for your anniversary!!!
My fiancée and I had an awesome stay. The attention to detail was impressive. Directions, places to go, things to do, all detailed out to ensure you can have a great experience.

We're so glad you found us and trusted us with your vacation. Thank you for the kind words about your experience with the directions and our guidebook of things to do in the area. We're passionate about the area, it being handed down to us through generation after generation. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Maybe we can convince you to come back and spend your honeymoon at the cabin. Hopefully by then we'll have a hot tub available.
Had a great time in the tiny home on the hill. Loved the remote setting and how quiet the property was over the weekend.
Only drawbacks were the electric stove didn’t work- meaning we had to cook using the microwave and toaster oven. Not a deal breaker since we had enough other food for dinner.
Other drawback was the sheets on the bed were wet up against the wall side- seemed they were not fully dry before the bed was made prior to our arrival. Not a deal breaker but definitely not what we had in mind for the price.

Our Little Red tiny home is outfitted with what is known as an Induction Stove Top. The instructions in the welcome book at the cabin discuss how it uses a different kind of technology to heat the specific cookware provided in the cabin. It's ideall for heating up a pot of lobster bisque soup or sizzling some tasty shrimp scampi for a nice romantic dinner for two. No wasted space - and cleanup is a snap. The Little Red trivet in the photos keeps your food warm while protecting the table top. As for the bedding, our cleaning team washes and dries the sheets off-site (no laundry facilities at the tiny home). It seems odd that the sheets would be wet on only the one side next to the wall. It's been so cold and rainy this season that it's possible you may have experienced a slight moisture build up in the cabin (very common for tiny homes), especially if the bathroom fan isn't utilized on cold winter nights when we enjoy those hot soothing showers. We'd be more than willing to refund a portion of your stay, or to extend your next trip with us, as one way to accommodate you and to thank you for trusting us with your vacation. Let us know what you'd prefer.
Incredibly clean, and perfect for a couple looking to escape the modern world.

About the host

As a child I would come to this property on extended family reunions. My mother was raised on the property when there was no running water or electricity. Enchanted by the stories of her childhood, my father he loved visiting her family and hiking the mountain trails with my Uncles. When my Grandfather passed away in the 1989 my family inherited a parcel of the property that had been in our family since the 1830's. I embraced my father's vision of developing and building on our 'family' land in North Carolina and shared that vision with my wife when we first got married. Even as we were finishing our degrees at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah we began saving. In 2003 I joined the Air Force and was stationed at Warner Robins, GA. We practically raised our boys on the weekends hiking up and down the mountains trying to find the right spot for our own cabin. In 2005 my Uncle Frank granted us 4.88 acres of his inheritance and we eventually built the cabin you see here. In 2007 we were transferred to Alaska. After 6 heavenly years there we received orders, and in 2013 made the epic 45 day journey from Alaska to Virginia - via 17 National Parks, to our current duty station at Langley AFB, VA. In January 2017 I purchased my Uncle Frank's remaining parcel which incorporates the shed and field. Our plan is to further develop the property with more cabins to accommodate our growing family reunions.
