Our Oswegatchie Adirondack Cabin Retreat (in the Adirondack Park!) is built with rustic elegance in mind. The cabin is situated upon 2 acres of beautiful Adirondack Park wooded land surrounded by 13,000 acres of state land in the Western Adirondack Mountains. The West Branch of the Oswegatchie River is only 100 yards from the front door. Near the cabin are numerous ponds - French Pond, Long Pond, Round Pond, Rock Pond, Trout Pond, Clear Pond and Mud Pond which are all from 100 yards away to within two miles! A trail head for Jake's Pond can be found at the end of Long Pond Road only about 3 miles away. There are maps at the cabin for your use to personalize your own Adirondack Adventure!

Snowmobiling (or ATV-ing) from the front door with plenty of trailer parking. The cabin is located on Long Pond Road Trail with Lewis County C8 and C5 trails less than one mile down the road. All beautiful trails to anywhere in the state. An amazing 30 mile ride southeast to Stillwater Reservoir then Old Forge; north to Harrisville and Star Lake; or up into the Five Ponds wilderness that is due east on Long Pond Road. We have made the cabin convenient for winter occupancy with plenty of trailer parking, a furnace and an optional electric fireplace to keep you warm.

Our Oswegatchie Adirondack cabin was custom built by a local, master cabinet maker. The cabin is all on one level with a large covered patio with a firepit entering into a large well-stocked kitchen, full bathroom, laundry area, cozy living room and three bedrooms.

No matter what the season, every day is beautiful. The summer sun off the waters, winter all in white or the fall with its intense colors. The cabin is surrounded by huge white pines, hemlock woods and maple hardwoods for color and fragrance. The cabin is approximately fourteen miles from the town of Croghan and right around the corner from The Buckhorn Bar & Grill.

Enjoy a lot of R+R time, swimming at our beach (only 200 yards through the beautiful woods), hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, a campfire under the stars or seasonal activities of sledding, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

We own an adjoining additional 5 acres lot with a 4 bedroom house directly next to the cabin (60 feet apart) and a 2 bedroom cabin behind The Retreat. See listing 4642838 for details and to rent with the cabin - it's a great setup especially for a getaway with extended family and friends. These are separate properties but the cabins are close to each and share the beach amenities.

We loved the cabin and the property! The hosts were extremely responsive and helpful. This property really is a gem and we plan to book it again! We truly enjoyed how well thought out the property was, from allowing your pets without extra fees to the pavilion right out of the back door with a fire pit and aesthetic lighting. The kids bedroom has an air hockey and Foosball table... And we loved the ponds with the beach, dock with a fire pit on it, swim deck and free use of the kayaks. Everything was perfect and I wish more properties had as much to offer!

What a great place to stay, and so close to some great riding. So accommodating, and has everything you will need for your Adirondack getaway. I highly recommend the area and property. All the people we meet were so friendly. If you chose to stay, plan on making a trip to the Buckhorn for some awesome food, drinks and staff. Great experience.

Family weekend getaway

This property did not dissapoint and was perfect for our family getaway. We rented both properties side by side. The screened in porch and covered firepit area were great for our rainy day and the private beach was perfect on sunny day. The owners, Dave and Erin were wonderful to work with. Very responsive to every question I had and provided us with eveything we needed. We would definitly stay here again.

The pictures don’t do it justice!

My husband and I took my parents here for a Memorial Day weekend and we had the absolute best time. The cabin is thoughtfully stocked with everything you could possibly need from kitchen utensils to books and movies. The WiFi was strong for easy communication back home. And we really enjoyed the hikes to the nearby waterfalls. Erin is a wonderful host and we highly recommend this wonderful, comfortable, spacious cabin.

Big, very clean and well equipped cabin. Pillows and blankets supplied, but bring your own linens and towels (this isn’t clear on the Expedia listing). Directions were good, communication was fine. Our only issue was with the musty smell when we arrived. After opening all the windows and airing it out, it was fine. Probably because the last thing people do when they leave is clean and the place gets closed up with a freshly mopped floor. Would definitely stay here again as it is a beautiful and very quiet location.

Nice location; fun lake; deceptive advertising

Overall, Lewis County is a nice spot. The house was 15 minutes away from Croghan and was comfortable with the exception of the squeakiest box springs on the beds I have ever encountered. Also, the photos and description are deceptive. From the main angle, it looks like it's a cabin alone in the woods. Imagine our unpleasant surprise to find there is another, huge house whose back porch is about 100 feet away from the back door, which means that if the people in that house are loud and having fun, the noise drowns out your own group around the back porch fire pit. No privacy and annoyingly loud neighboring rental residence detracted from the experience considerably. Aside from that, there was a nice private lake with kayaks and row boat available. No fish in the lake that we could discern, but nice for swimming and rowing. Overall, a nice stay, but I think the owners should be a lot more honest about the way-too-close other rental right on top of this one.

My to go to place to get away from everything. The owners are exceptional. The property is well maintained, house is spotless (keep it that way people). Everything and anything that one could forget to bring is fully stocked. My huskies are welcome and the beach is literally steps away. This is the only place that I have ever returned to as there is a whole world to explore BUT this is my exception and a must to return for a few days of pure perfection.

Perfect private beach getaway in an oasis

This house is immaculate, far exceeded expectations. There was not one item that was not in the house or on the property that anyone could need. There is a private sandy beach with plenty of canoes, kayaks and boats. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating as I had the pleasure of personally meeting her. My family, my husky puppies and I have no complaints whatsoever and made memories to last a lifetime. There is no rental or location that will top the spot.

Never would stay again or recommend

Would NOT stay again. The property your staying at has a "garage" which two people were at every night. The one girl kept opening it and looking at us at the fire like were getting watched. The truck pulled in and didnt even take inconsideration we have kids running around. The comforters in both queen beds had what looked as if was blood stained and of course the washer broke the day of us coming so we couldnt even wash them. The room with the single beds was not clean. There was an odor and it was super dusty. The kids couldn't even sleep in there with how dusty it was. The airhockey table was COVERED in dust, it was honestly unreal. Thank god we had allergy medicine. The dresser in the room was not dusted at all. So I was sent an attachment when we booked and it said firewood was included as well as trash bags. Well when we got there the only fire wood that was there was 2 logs and boards. When we emailed the owner she said firewood was not included (even tho is clearly states it is with what she sent me) and she became VERY snarky and implied we were ungrateful. She had her neice drop off 4 logs for a 3 night stay which lasted maybe an hour. We had to go out and buy firewood when we could of brought it from home. When something gets sent to you and says what’s included you would expect it to be there. It also says trash bags are included because you have to take your trash. There was NO trash bags. Again something we would of brought from home. The owner did offer to take 1 bag for us. We paid a cleaning fee and we are super unsatisfied with this property was. The property has the beach and had kayaks for us to use. This was great and the view was beautiful. Overall, we wouldn’t stay here again. There was false advertising of what was included and then when we inquired about it we received unprofessional attitude.

Wonderful Weekend

My boyfriend and I had a great long weekend here paddling around the different ponds! The owners were very personable and knowledgeable about the area, different activities and places to shop/eat. We stayed for my birthday and they even added a special treat of cake for us. The cabin is very spacious and is fully stocked-just bring your own food and you're all set! There is also a covered area out back where the fire pit and grill are, so if the weather turns, you can still be outside.
