We had a wonderful stay! The location is very convenient to sights in Sintra, Lisbon airport, and nearby beaches. A rental car is helpful for getting around, but there’s a market and cafes within walking distance. The home was very clean, and our stay even included a mid-week clean by the housekeeper. The weather was very warm during our stay, so the pool was perfect for our family after sightseeing. There are ample sleeping accommodations and several outdoor seating spaces. Our family of 7 had plenty of room to spread out. We would love to stay here again and highly recommend this home.
We loved the villa, the pool and the garden. And the view! Fantastic area too! So easy to go to so many interesting places. Antonio was a perfect host - very helpful. All in all a perfect stay.
Overall a very nice stay. Nice sized house with a good layout for a big family. The location was great for exploring the whole area. It is a long walk into Sintra so a ride is pretty much necessary but Ubers are everywhere.
We had a great time. Quite area. Good for families. The house ist very clean but a bit musty smell everywhere.
Thanks

Thanks for the positive review. The smell you felt is not normal since no one has complained before. Maybe you didnt open the windows during the day as most portugueses houses need or maybe its just a diffeent ambient from the house you are used to.
We stayed comfortably and happily with our family from Germany. The was plenty of space for the eight of us to sleep and in fact, the house sleeps more. The rooms were clean, the pool was nice, and the kitchen well-stocked. A great value for the price we paid, and a short cars-drive away from the local tourist spots.
Beautiful house with original furnishings in a quiet area, with many various sights nearby.
Communication (only online) with Antonio was very good.
We liked the things to do list!
This casa in Galamares is a great place to stay for visiting Sintra and the surrounding area. Communication with owner António was timely and the information he provided was helpful-especially regarding the use of Uber as an easy and economical way to get around. Accommodation was just as we expected from the posted descriptions. -and the house is equipped with everything from paper goods to batteries for remotes.
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly..

Great Location
Very nice and large house in the wonderful Sintra area - Everything was clean and working fine - It has to be noted that two bedrooms have outside of the house access (near pool for one and back side of the garden for the other) which made our children even happier - the kitchen dishes are a little bit short for a 10 persons stay (to get same plate or glass for everyone) - great to get the pool to rest after climbing Sintra's wonderful residences or traveling to the very close lisboa, or it was possible to go to the nice beaches 10 minutes away - Great house in a great area.

Thank you for a positive review. The kitchen dishes tend to break along the year, probably more than usual this year. In any case we just bought a hole lot more.
We had a pleasant stay in Sintra. Despite some bad luck at the start (no running water on the first day due to unexpected maintenance work in the neighbourhood and a broken pool heater), we had a lovely week. The house is a good place from which to organise trips into Sintra, Lisbon and to the beach. Surprisingly few wasps, which was a concern due to allergies. Only real tip for improvement would be the beds, as some of us did not sleep very well on these matrasses.

Thank you for a positive review. As for the issues, the mattresses are all regular IKEA ones, very common, and are changed every few years. The maintenance by the water company is very rare, 2-3 times a year and never after working hours. The pool heater was discovered not to be working on a sunday and a new one installed on monday. The last one one lasted13 years, hopefully this one too.

A really nice and well-functioning house.
We - a family of three generations and eleven persons - spent a wonderful week in Sintra. The house easily accomodated our large family. All was clean and neat. The kids, in particular, enjoyed the heated pool. Sintra and the surroundings is a pearl - lots of culture and an amazing nature.
Just two minor suggestions for improvments: The waste-pipe in the guest house is undersized and the double matress in one of the bedrooms needs to be replaced.

Thank you for a positive review. All of the mattresses have now been replaced.
Antonio, the host, was friendly and very helpful. The villa gave us everything we wanted, it is spacious, very clean and extremely well equipped for our 3 generations. We loved the pool, especially the grandchildren who were reluctant to get out! The gardens were beautiful and a great place for hide and seek.
It is ideally located for all the Sintra historic sites and the local beaches could be easily reached by car. The lanes and footpaths are great for walking and running, especially if you wanted to leave the car at home. There is a grocery store, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance and would particularly recommend Cantinho do Picadeiro. We would certainly stay there again.

Wonderful, property with excellent scenery.
This is one of the most beautiful properties I have stayed in. The house is equipped with literally everything you need.
The Internet speed here is very good.
The house was kept extremely clean by the cleaner that came in once a week (very friendly lady).
Unfortunately, the issues that we had was that the House was extremely damp.
Due to the microclimate of the area. The bed always felt damp and the smell of the damp on the bed was pretty horrific. Truth be said, I don't think anything can be done about this.
If you are going to stay at this property, it is critical for you to have your own vehicle or transport. Taxi service will not come out to this area for some reason. It was a nightmare trying to get a taxi.
The bus service is good in this area, however, It's always very overcrowded.
The tram looked like a wonderful way of seeing the area. But again, the tram was always packed and we could never get on.
Another big problem that we faced as a family was the mosquitoes. By the second night, everybody in my family had been stung by mosquitoes. Don't forget to take mosquito repellent and fly spray.
The outside areas, specially paving and steps going to up to the House, could have been better maintained. As there was lots of loose tiles. Unfortunately, I did have a bad fall on one of these steps going up to the house.
Is best to avoid the gardener I didn't find him friendly and the quality of his work was not very good. Every time he left the swimming pool was covered with debris and grass cutting.
Finally. The next door neighbour has three large dogs that continuously bark throughout the whole day. This can be a problem if you're trying to sleep in.
Enjoy your trip if you're going there.

Thank you for your review. The issues you have mentioned have been completely inexistant to all the guests before you in the last 15 years as attested by the hundreds of very positive reviews written in the house guest book. In all this time never was any smell of beds mentioned, even slightly, much less horrific, dogs that do not let you sleep at night or major problem with mosquitoes. There are no more or less mosquitos than in the Lisbon area, which is very little since it is a dry climate and which can easily be solved by using a plugin anti-mosquito device for a couple of hours. Still, every place has its own particularities which, when different from our own house, take some time to get used to and I understand that we cannot always fully please everyone even though we try our best.

The villa was spacious and very comfortable. The children just loved the pool (so did the adults)

About the host
Hosted by Antonio Cruz
I live 6 minutes from the house and with the help of our wonderful maid, the gardener and Rosa we manage this small business. I am always within a phone call away to help in any way or to service the house. I lived 15 years in Canada in my early years so I speak English perfectly. I can also communicate very well in French and Spanish.
Why they chose this property
What makes this property unique
Incredible view, plants, flowers and green everywhere. The pool area and the entire house is a sun trap since it is facing south and protected from all winds. The house has huge windows and in the living room even the doors to the exterior are in glass. Our maid, Marilia, speaks english and keeps the house stopless and does the cleaning in the middle of your stay. Within 5-10 minute walk there are a couple of restaurants with a pleasant outside area away from any traffic where one can sit for hours or until late in the evening. While the village of Galamares is very quite, major shopping malls, train station and the freeway are less than 10 minutes away. Going the other direction the various beaches with numerous cafes and restaurants are less than 10 minures away. Rent a bike (or e-bike) and have it delivered to the house.
