Ask a questionAbout Susan
My name is Susan and I also live in Weeki Wachee. I love the river and all it has to offer. I grew up in Detroit so originally I was a big city person. There is nothing better than sitting on my porch and looking at the reflective serene water with the mullet jumping 10 feet high, turtles swimming by. My canal is a mating/birthing canal for the manatees and we have a lot of activity in the winter and spring months. We have even had a pair of otters playing in our canal. I manage this property for the owner who is originally from Glendale, New York. He resides in St Petersburg and comes to the river house when it is not rented to guests. He enjoys fishing off the dock and going out on the river and stopping by the local parks to see what everyone out there is catching and what kind of bait they are using. He also likes to set crab traps, blue crabs are in this area closer to the mouth of the river near the Gulf but we have caught some in the canal as well. He also likes to go to antiquing/thrift store shopping and visit the local restaurants.

Why Susan chose Weeki Wachee Gardens
Weeki Wachee is an extraordinary place due to the beautiful river with the crystal clear water and the temperature of the river being 72 degrees and fresh water coming up into the river every day. The manatees on the river truly are gentle giants and seeing one up close and personal makes you feel so lucky, I always tell my girls we are blessed to see them. People on the river are super nice and will greet you as you travel. Always ask them if they saw a manatee and if so, where? They will tell you. The new seawall and dock make the property even better with being able to fish from the dock or just sit out there on it and enjoy the view and fresh air without having to leave the backyard. The wildlife in this area and the country setting with the fresh area attracted the owner to this area and yet only 15 minutes away is the big city with all the amenities. Wild turkeys are known to roam the neighborhood and come right onto the property. Weeki deer as we call them can be seen at the entrance to the street as there is a wooded area there.
What makes this Mobile home unique
The property is located in the quiet neighborhood of Weeki Wache Estates which consists of about 8 streets all that dead end at the water. Both ends of the streets are surrounded by woods and there is plenty of wildlife to see. The paddle to the river from the dock in the backyard is especially nice since it is all natural woods once you get past our neighborhood and you can see deer, pigs, owls, birds, even manatees swim in the canal. Sometimes there might be a gator in the canal so keep a look out. Once you reach the river, about 20-25 minutes, you can go to the left and paddle up river towards the springs, or to the right and paddle down river towards the Gulf of Mexico and Rogers Park, Hospital Hole, Upper Deck Restaurant, Kayak Shack. The house is set up for families, couples, or friends.
