On the scale from 1 to 5 this house should have about 23. :)
We are quite experienced travelers and usually we are trying to book a house, not a hotel for our vacations and conference trips , so we do have a lot to compare with. So far - this one is unquestionably the best. Location is perfect - 3 minutes walk in one direction is a Shipwreck beach for surfers and experienced swimmers and Grand Hyatt resort with the best restaurant on the island and beautiful place for morning coffee (opened from 6 AM), 12 min walk in opposite direction is a Poipu beach, safe, easy and completely protected from waves, with beautiful snorkeling and sea turtles (they are coming to the beach at every sunset and are going back to the ocean after a sunrise). One of the very nice hikes starts right in the corner of Shipwreck beach and watching sunrise from the top of the cliff there is something special. Weather is almost ideal and much better than on the North side of the island - and Kauai itself is absolutely beautiful. If you are hikers - I highly recommend Waimea Canyon and Sleeping Giant (second - if you are experienced hiker). If you are not - you can see the Canyon from the observation point accessible by a car, but you should see it. It is not called Grand Canyon of Pacific for nothing.
And the last, but not least - house itself. For the family or party of 3 or 4 people it is Goldilocks perfect - not too small, not too big, just right to feel very comfortable. With a lot of air and space, but not too big and empty. And it is exceptionally well maintained and stocked with everything - from the kitchenware for quite complicated cooking if you like it, to the golf clubs and charger for Tesla...
To make long story short - it was our best week of vacation for the last 25 years. And we already decided to book it for the next year for more than a week. :)
