"This Villa holds a full EOT (Greek Tourist Authority) Licence of approval to rent". Villa Apo Petra resides in an enviable position just outside the village of Kokkino Chorio where, back in the 60s, the film Zorba the Greek was filmed with Antony Quinn. Kokkino Chorio really is a traditional village which maintains its farming roots. Its envious location enjoys amazing sea and mountain views from its spectacular elevated position high up on the Drapanokefalas Mountain. (WIFI available).

Awesome views superb villa/

The villa is in an impressive location, overlooking a beautiful bay and mountains. The villa provides wonderful privacy and very comfortable rooms. The pool was excellent. The rooms all have air conditional and the kitchen and house sis well equipped. It had everything we wanted. The DVDs and nintendo wii went done very well with the kids and we enjoyed the books! We had planned to take advantage of the Villas location and explore this wild but accessible part of Crete, but the Villa was so wonderful and the beach and village below so much fun that we hardly left. As a family with 2 young kids this was our best holiday ever so thank you!

Close to perfect

If you are loooking for a house in a quiet location with a stunning view, then this is the perfect spot. We loved it and enjoyed every day of our stay. The sunsets were unforgettable. The house itself is spacious and the beds are excellent. The pool is nice and well equipped. Sandra is a great host and we found everything well prepared. The kitchen could be better equipped with knives, pots and pans. On the other hand the Weber grill on the veranda is a highlight. You need to buy a voucher for Internet access, however, we had enough GB in our mobile phone plans included, so we didn't have to use it. But these are minor flaws.

Nice and calm holiday in beautiful villa

We had a nice and warm week in October in this beautiful villa with stunning view over the sea. The location is great , very calm and remote. The villa itself is beautiful with three terraces (one for the morning sun another for the afternoon and one in the first floor , also facing east ) plus the swimmingpool , where the sun is nearly the whole day. From all of the terraces you have a wonderul panorama view over the sea and the whole bay area. The kitchen is fully equipped and nothing was missed. We were welcomed by a little "welcome package" with water , cookies , tea , milk and coffee , which was very nice , as we were prepared for the first morning , before we could go to the mini market. Rooms are equipped with aircon , which we used for warming up ,as it was quite chilly in the mornings and evenings. One little hint: as said , it was quite chilly in the nights and we only had one thin sheet for sleeping. This is of course great for the hot summer nights , but in October it would have been nice to have a real blanket or duvet for the cooler nights . But this beeing a minor matter thanks a lot to Sandra and her familiy to let us have a great stay in this beautiful house . Definitely recommended !

Sehr tolles Haus mit sehr schönem Pool. Wir kommen bestimmt noch mal hier her.

Die Anfahrt ist ein kleines Abenteuer , hier hilft die Navigation. Ansonsten ist das Ferienhaus nur schwer zu finden.

Lovely villa with superb views of Souda Bay

We had a great week in this villa with our young children. It looks and sounds good on the website and certainly lives up to expectations. The owners have made every effort to make sure the guests have everything they need. The local beaches and tavernas are very good - you will need your own transport. I would recommend this villa to anyone.

Amazing location

We enjoyed a lovely family holiday in Crete at Easter with our 21 and 22 year old daughters . The weather was more mixed than we expected it would be at that time of year but we had a wonderful time. The villa is in a fantastic, peaceful location with an amazing panoramic view of mountains and sea. It had everything we needed and we loved the swimming-pool, even though the water’s a bit cold when you first get in at this time of year. There are some great restaurants In Plaka where we enjoyed delicious Cretan cooking (plenty of choice for vegetarians). Thank you to Sandra, who made the booking process easy and provided lots of useful information, including details of the local car hire company we used who were excellent. We would love to return for another holiday soon.

Wonderful Crete retreat

We spent a week with friends in this lovely villa, not quite long enough though. It was our first visit to Crete & we have all fallen in love with the Island & the people. The villa is very clean, comfortable & well equipped with everything needed for self catering. It has a lovely family feeling & is evident that it is a much loved family holiday home. The views from the villa are just spectacular over the Souda Bay, we never tired of sitting admiring it,especially the magnificent sunsets & starlit night skies. There are plenty of nearby attractive little towns & beaches to visit, with an endless choice of cafes & restaurants, all very reasonable priced as well. We would definitely like to return one day, & most definitely would recommend the villa to friends. Thank you for sharing your little bit of Paradise with us. Anne & Peter

Fantastic chill out holiday

We have just returned home from one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had. Our family, Mum, Dad, Son & Daughter in law and 19 yr old Grandaughter, had never been to Crete before after years of visiting Cyprus, didn't know what to expect but within days have fallen for this magical place, the villa is wonderful, everything you could possibly want and more, we loved the pool and it's location away from the house meant none of the mess was dragged into the villa. There were the wasps to compete with but not a great problem, we ate a lot at the Retreat taverna, had a few BBQ at "home" but just enjoyed the fantastic views and the warmth. We are captured by the beauty of this villa & Crete and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Breathtaking views

We had a fabulous time at this stunning villa. Very well equipped with everything you could need. Beautiful location stunning sea veiws and peaceful setting. The pool was great and we had a very relaxing holiday. Highly recommended for quiet get away from it all breaks. We would happily book again.

Why they chose this property

Kokkino Chorio is a typically Cretan village with a small grocery store and a couple of kefalonia. When we drove through the village in 2005 and ventured on our way up the mountain road we arrived at a plot of land that had the most amazing views of the sea. We never purchase on impulse usually but it felt so right we said yes immediately to reserving the plot and that was how our story began.
On that land now stands our beautiful stone built villa and the views still amaze us and we feel very lucky.
We hope that through care and our attention to detail a holiday at our villa makes you feel as good as we do every time we visit there ourselves.
NW Crete and the Apokoronas, under the cape of the Drapanokefalas mountain is beautiful, but just a small part of this amazing island.

What makes this property unique

Our villa boasts spectacular views over Souda Bay. We are also 5 minutes drive from local restaurants in Plaka, a further 2 minutes and you will be at the small, once fishing village, of Almyrida, the beach, shops and seafront tavernas.
The villa location is perfect for peace and quiet yet it is very convenient to all the local amenities.
For lazy sunny days at the villa the pool is perfect for cooling off and it commands beautiful views of the Agean as well as being a perfect location to watch the sunset over Souda Bay.
