Casale Sole a large country 4 bedroom / 4 ensuite bathroom house beautifully set within 8 hectares (20 acres) of grounds. The property is on the Umbrian / Tuscany border, 45 minutes from Perugia International airport, near to the ancient hill town of Monte Santa Maria Tiberina and the vibrant walled town of Citta di Castello.

The house has a large pool (heated by solar panels), generous terraces and pergola, woodland, an olive grove and wildflower meadow. We have been lucky enough to see within the grounds deer, hare, hoopoo birds and fireflies.

On the ground floor of the house is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a sitting room and a large country kitchen with utility and pantry. All rooms have original exposed stone walls, timbered ceilings and terracotta floors. The kitchen links to a covered dining terrace with views over the Italian countryside. There is a gas BBQ and table tennis table on the terrace.

A stone staircase leads to the first floor that provides a superb double bedroom with dressing room and en-suite bathroom. There is also a magnificent drawing room and library /games room on this floor. Two further double bedrooms both en-suite, one with a bar billiard table are on the top floor.

All the modern conveniences are included i.e. TV, wi-fi in all rooms, DVD player, stereo etc.

The local village is a few minutes away with a shop, bar and pharmacy. The beautiful town of Citta di Castello with its historic architecture and churches is a 15 minute drive away and offers a number of large supermarkets, boutiques, bars and restaurants. Weekly markets are also held in the town.

Less than an hours drive away are the stunning towns of Perugia, Assisi and Gubbio. The Tuscan town of Arezzo with its monthly antiques market, stunning central square, designer shops and the amazing frescoes of Piero della Francesco is also worth a visit.

Further afield is Siena, Florence, Montepulciano and Villa Lante, all about a two hour drive.

We had an amazing time in Umbria. Tony’s house is as described, fully equipped, very well located, near many cities to visit - we felt at home. You can feel the effort he put in to welcome his guests. We really enjoyed the end of the day sitting on the varandas for a nice dinner or simply reading a book and looking at the view. It’s very peaceful, great for kids all ages, many small supermarkets around. Tony’s recommendations of what to do in the nearby area are spot on. If you are looking for a place to stay in Umbria, you won’t be wrong with this one.

Stunning home in the idilic Umbrian countryside

The house was beautiful, even more so than the photos and immediately felt more like a home than a holiday let. The property managers were very helpful and gave us some good hints and tips on the local area. The situation of the house blends privacy with close driving proximity to many great places to visit, for us highlights included Assisi and Passignano sul Trasimeno amongst the many day trips we had. Highly recommend the property and location to others, hoping to return ourselves in the future.

Amazing, beautiful, property, very well located close to Tuscany.

We have spent lovely summer week in this amazing property. The house is big enough for two families (8 people). Kitchen is very well equipped. You can enjoy the Italian "Dolce Vita" in this amazing place. I strongly recommend that for those that want to mix visiting Umbria/ Tuscany with relaxing at the beautiful sunny pool. I hope to spend another week in this house next year:)

Stunning house!

This property is absolutely stunning! We have just returned from a blissful fortnight at Casale Sole and can honestly say there was nothing we would change. The house is very well equipped and finished to a high standard particularly the beautiful kitchen which led out on to a lovely shaded loggia where we enjoyed numerous home cooked meals and tasty take away pizza from the local pizzeria in Gioello. Nearby San Secondo has a wonderful patisserie with exceptional croissant and cakes that provided for delicious breakfasts as the sun gradually warmed us. The house is really well situated for visiting some beautiful hilltop towns and villages, Montone being one of them. There were 8 of us at the house plus a 1 year old. Arranged over 3 floors there was plenty of space for everyone. Outside, the pool was lovely and great for the younger members of the party. Overall, I would certainly recommend this property to anyone after a really special break!
