QUIET COUNTRY COTTAGE FOR 2. HEATED POOL. PANORAMIC SEA VIEW. NEAR BEACHES

Moulin Rompu enjoys perhaps the most beautiful location on the Gironde estuary. Surrounded by vines and sunflowers, in an elevated position with spectacular views across the estuary and open countryside. The sunsets are amazing! This newly built holiday cottage has character and charm and is totally private with secure parking behind electronic gates. There is free WIFI, excellent mobile reception and UK TV. French windows open on to your own south facing terrace and secluded garden from which you can lie back and enjoy the views. On the kitchen terrace the large geothermally heated saltwater pool is shared only with the English owners who live in the adjacent house.
Moulin Rompu is extremely peaceful and quiet being situated off the main road, well away from traffic (other than the odd tractor). It is a short (10 minute) stroll into the pretty village of Mortagne with a bakery, small supermarket, butcher, post office, cash machine, cafes, pizzeria and other shops offering fresh hot take away food. The lower part of the village is a picturesque little port and here there are more restaurants, bars, market stalls and regular brocantes. Within 20 mins drive are the large golden sandy beaches of St Georges and Royan as well as many pretty small sheltered coves; further up this glorious coast is the wild and beautiful Cote Sauvage.
Within walking distance of the cottage the woods, estuary and marshes are a paradise for birdwatchers, photographers and artists.
In 1hr drive visit Bordeaux, the chateaux of the Medoc (via Blaye), Cognac, La Rochelle. In 2 hrs, St Emilion, Ile de Re, Poitiers and much more.
So much to see and do in this beautiful part of France or just stay by the pool and soak up the sun!!!

We had a wonderful week at this property. Howard and Liz were amazing hosts. Communication before arrival was excellent and we found the property with ease using the what 3 words app (thank you Howard). The property is accurate as per the listing. It is ideally located for using as a base for exploring the coastline. We highly recommend the property.

Excellent holiday

Excellent accommodation with everything we needed, hosts very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Enjoyed the local beaches/villages with good restaurants. Worth a visit to Bordeaux, we drove to P&R and accessed city via the excellent tram system.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this delightful Gite , we thought it couldn't exceed our expectations we forgot how pretty the view is from the Gite and the great location. 15 mins from great beaches and restaurants so much to do! Wonderful 2 weeks.

We primarily visited the area to cycle and to enjoy the wildlife - neither disappointed.We cycled just over 600 miles on extremely quiet roads and paths through varied landscapes.After a days cycling the swimming pool was a real plus.The owners Howard and Liz are on hand with a wealth of local knowledge and treated us with views of wild boar from the patio. The bike was garaged and nothing was too much trouble.We will return.

A blissful week

The property is beautifully situated with a lovely outlook and breath taking sunsets . It is an interesting area - lots of towns and villages to visit . Beautiful Romanesque churches and also Gallo/ Roman remains. The property is comfortable and the hosts Howard and Liz are thoughtful and knowledgeable. There is a great butcher in the village too.

The view, the house, the hosts, the swimming pool, the envirenment,… everything was TOP!! We had a sunny holiday in Mortagne sur Gironde, we did a lot of bicycle tours (vtt and ebike), visited nice villages and enjoyed Liz and Howards place.

Estuary Views

We had a wonderful 2 weeks holiday in Howard and Liz's gite. The gite had everything we needed and was extremely comfortable to stay in. The pool and pool area was superb, the lunch/dining area was idyllic with tables sat between two rows of lavender bushes and the views across the estuary were amazing. Howard and Liz are an incredibly welcoming couple with a great knowledge of the surrounding area. We would definitely recommend anyone thinking of booking into the gite.

Wonderful

Although the weather was not perfect, we had a wonderful week. Having the pool just outside the kitchen door was indeed a luxury my wife made full use of. There were lots of good restaurants nearby and we had good meals at reasonably prices every day. If you want to cook, the kitchen was more than adequate, and the dishwasher meant we did not even have to wash up! The owners, in the house next door were perfect hosts, and we felt very touched to be invited to a birthday party. We had a great, relaxing week, just what we wanted, and I hope to return!

An excellent gite for peace and quiet .

This gite for two has underfloor heating but just in case the weather turned cold ( we were there at the end of September beginning October) Howard left us an electric panel heater. An extremely clean well furnished cottage with all the amenities you would expect from a British owned property.Whilst attached to the owners house, it has complete privacy and security with access controlled by electric gates. Guests have access to a large swimming pool and lovely grounds in which to walk. All this is complimented by extensive views across the Gironde Estuary and numerous walks.The gite is also equipped with British TV(BBC;ITV and numerous other channels - a rarity now even with British owned properties in France. Altogether an excellent and very relaxing holiday and highly recommended.

Keep it a secret!

Sailing home with a sad heart. Didn’t want to leave this piece of heaven. Sweet little gite in the most amazing surroundings. Looking over the Gironde watching birds of prey, storks etc was quite something. The pool was so lovely to relax beside. The sunsets and stars incredible. Our hosts Howard and Liz looked after us so well and we thank them for letting us share their beautiful home. Ideally situated to tour the area. A must is a visit to Blaye and the citadel. We also took the ferry from Blaye and travelled up through the Medoc region. The chateaux set amongst vineyards were breathtaking. At the end of the day we took the ferry to ROYAN for the short drive back to Montaigne sur Gironde. We loved every minute of our holiday and not surprised so many people rebook the gite. Hope to return ourselves sometime.

The welcome by Liz and Howard was very warm and friendly. We were briefed on everything. We were given a bottle of locally grown wine to welcome us. The property is located in a very quiet street. The house is secured with an electric gate and the parking space for the car is perfect. The dishwasher is small but perfect. The washing machine is new and easy to use. The pool is magnificent. The cover works electrically - perfect! Liz and Howard are very discreet hosts. They only used the pool when we were not in it. For waste disposal, everything was super labelled - it does work a bit differently than in Germany. Howard had sent information in advance about the surrounding area and places of interest and restaurants. On site, we received a map with all the restaurants marked on it. In the village itself there are 2 bakers, a butcher and a very well-stocked Coop market. There is a large supermarket (full-range store) in Cozes and in Gemozac, both about 11 km away. We were allowed to use the rotary dryer in the courtyard - very convenient. All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much and would love to come back.

Emplacement magnifique, tres belle vue sur la Gironde. Superbe coucher de soleil. Calme, ideal pour vacances relaxes. Wir sind sehr herzlich von Howard und Liz empfangen worden, man spürt, dass sie Lust auf Ihre Gäste haben, sie waren immer da, wenn wir etwas brauchten. Die Kommunikation lief problemlos, wir haben viele Tipps für Ausflüge in der Umgebung bekommen. Das Cottage ist wirklich hübsch mit ausreichend Platz für 2, die Süd-Terasse war herrlich zum Verweilen mit einem wunderbaren, weiten Blick auf die Felder, Weinberge und den Fluss. Man hat viel Privatsphäre. Wir haben unsere Zeit sehr genossen und empfehlen die Unterkunft zu 100% weiter!

Perfektes Ferienhaus für 2

Wir wurden herzlich von den Gastgebern empfangen und es wurde alles so angetroffen wie erwartet. Ein sehr schönes Haus, geschmackvoll eingerichtet und ausgestattet. Ebenso gehört ein großer Pool dazu und reichlich Platz zum entspannen. Auf der Terrasse mit Meerblick (Gironde) kann man herrlich frühstücken und zu Abend essen. Zudem hatten wir fast jeden Tag einen wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang. Howard und Liz sind ganz liebe Menschen und absolut diskret und rücksichtsvoll. Wir haben uns super wohlgefühlt.

Wij hebben een heerlijke week gehad in het huisje bij Howard en Liz, niet alleen hebben we genoten van het geweldige uitzicht., maar ook van het heerlijke (zout water) zwembad, de goed uitgeruste keuken en de gastvrijheid. De rust was heerlijk.

Lovely accommodation in peaceful rural area.

This property is small but perfectly formed for a couple. The grounds are a delight and the pool is wonderful in warm weather. Liz and Howard could not have been more welcoming and there is plenty of variety in the area with the Medoc, Bordeaux, Blaye, the beaches near Royan and the Atlantic coast as well as charming smaller towns within easy reach, assuming you have a car.
