We had a fabulous time in Normandy, and staying in the Chateau made the experience even more immersive vs. staying in a standard hotel setting. It is a part of the history of the region. The owners were very responsive to the issues that came up and were resolved quickly and completely. We had guests from 10 to 90 years old and everyone was comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The grounds and gardens and views from the house were gorgeous.I will probably never travel to Normandy with 13 people again, but if I did, I would be certain to return.
Exactly as shown, beautiful and well restored 19th century chateau. Our entire family, ranging in age from 2-64, spent a wonderful week. Location is perfect for exploring D-Day history.
Everything was fantastic! Very attentive hosts! Wonderful delicious catered dinner one evening. Flies were the only difficulty but hosts immediately responded and helped us get rid of the many flies!
We loved our stay! The chateau had plenty of space for our group of 11. The stay was very comfortable and we enjoyed the various seating areas that we could congregate and spend time together. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed the pool. We would return again!
Simply magnificent ! Incredible property. Well equipped comfortable sprawling property. Everything we needed for a fantastic experience. We were 14 and never felt crowded. Thank you for a great place to stay while seeing an amazing area at our pace.
We retraced our father’s D-day landing. Staying at the chateau made for a wonderful gathering place for our family of nine. Beautiful house, comfortable beds, very clean. Wonderful experience.
We had a big family group and the house was large enough for all. Hire the chef, François! What a wonderful weekend- we went to Mont St. Michel, Normandy beaches and to Bayeux.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at Chateau d'Argouges! The chateau is beautiful and well cared for. The landscaped grounds are great as well. Be mindful of an additional check-out fee for housekeeping and additional taxes that are not included in the VRBO costs. Overall, we loved our stay here.
12 adults shared a wonderful 8 bedroom Chateau in the Normandy region. The historic property is well modernized with most baths en-suite. Great country kitchen, large refrigerator, and all located within 30 minutes of most of the key D-Day sites. No complaints, would rent again.
This chateau is located in a beautiful setting, calm and peaceful. It is perfect for a large family, with many bedrooms & en-suite bathrooms. We also enjoyed the swimming pool, game room and garden-with a trampoline & swing set.
We stayed as a group of friends ranging in age but mostly fun loving oldies, and while we were expecting something special from the stay with the bar set quite high, our expectations were exceeded. The check in was simple and it was great to see from the host the passion that's gone into the place which is difficult to put into words given the charm of Chateau d'Argouges; a truly wonderful place to which we will return for sure.
Our family of 10 stayed here for five days and absolutely LOVED it! Thibeaut, the house manager, met us when we arrived and showed us all around the property that he and his wife have lovingly renovated. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated, and our family enjoyed the amenities, especially the pool.If you are thinking about having a special celebration at the house, as others have said, Chef Francoise is your guy!We celebrated a Law School graduation and a 60th birthday while there, and made wonderful memories!
The chateau is fabulous, comfortable and just beautiful inside, I’d describe it as welcoming and peaceful. Grounds are lovely, lots of space to relax, play, BBQ and enjoy time with friends and family. The pool are was lovely and the pool perfect , including a pool bar and BBQ fir you to set up and use. Thibault is on-site if you need anything , the area is lovely for cycling and you are close to all the history & lovely Normandy villages. Highly recommend arranging Francois the chef to come in one night for a special meal - was all a lovely, memorable experience. We had a super 5 days , and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Highly recommended.
We choose this property to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday, and the whole experience was just wonderful.
The Chateau is as beautiful as it looks, each room has its own en-suite so plenty of room and privacy for everyone.
The pool area was wonderful and we were so lucky that we had the weather to enjoy it.
We travelled as 4 groups, our own group consisting of 2 children, age 6 years and 10 months. There was a high chair, travel cot with good mattress and even baby change mats available. Also the trampoline was a hit with my 6 year old. We didn’t find the toys in the cupboard in the playroom until the last day, so that’s a tip to have a look in the cupboard.
My only regret is not having longer at the property. We would definitely book to stay here again.
Absolutely loved our stay at Chateau Argouges. We had a three generation family and everyone enjoyed, from cooking French food in the farm style kitchen to reading by the fireplace, exploring the gardens to playing ping pong in the game room, reading about the WWII history to playing chess in the billiards room there was something for everyone. Highly recommend, only wish we could have stayed longer, maybe another time.
Perfect place for combining visit to Normandy and a family gathering
Perfect place when visiting with several families. Each room has a separate bath. Kitchen, dining room, garden and pool area worked perfect as a place for gathering
