About Francesca d'Antonio
Francesca is an archaeologist with a passion for nature and culture of the Cilento. Her work has enabled her to discover the charm of this land, rich in history and ancient culture. For several years she has been working as a farmer other than an archaeologist. She produces excellent extra virgin olive oil, wine, chestnuts and many other products, typical of the Mediterranean diet, that she loves her guests to enjoy.
Why Francesca d'Antonio chose Perdifumo
I love to spend long and relaxing periods in Cilento, Unesco world heritage. My estate is located in a small hillside village, away from the stress and bustle of the city. It is surrounded by a large private garden where you can experience unforgettable moments by the pool, the scent of the flowers and the beautiful sunset on Capri and the Amalfi Coast. I also enjoy preparing traditional and tasty recipes utilising the products of this land accompaining with local wine.
What makes this Villa unique
It is perfect for families: there are large outdoor spaces available for children to play and its privileged location allows its guests to shelter from the heat of the summer months, offering complete privacy and tranquillity. You can reach beautiful beaches, such as Agropoli, Acciaroli and the Punta Licosa marine reserve. Walking, biking and horseback riding along many paths that lead from the sea to the surrounding hills is also possible. You can easily reach the archaeological sites of Paestum and Velia, visit places rich in history such as the Padula’s Charterhouse and many medieval villages such as Agropoli and Castellabate. Some of the most famous places in the world: Pompeii, Naples, Sorrento, Capri, Ischia, Positano and the Amalfi coast are all reachable on a day trip.

Great place to enjoy the piece and quiet of the Cilento region
Huge property with beautiful garden and pool with a view.
We are a family with three teens and usually we are wanting for space, not here. The villa/castle is huge, 6 bedrooms and two sitting/dinning rooms on each of the two upper levels.
The owner was wonderful during check in and helpful with directions and would check on and clean the pool daily.
We visited early June and found that most of the restaurants nearby were only open on weekends. There are three well stocked grocery stores in the village though and the restaurants in the more touristy areas (Castebellate etc about 25 minutes away) were open daily.
Francesca’s villa is a beautiful place and ideal for a large group. It’s high up in a small village with a few amenities - supermarket and shop for basics. There’s a bigger village a few kilometres away and a car is essential. We loved our stay and hope to go back one day!
A beautiful home on a stunning property
Il Pilaccio was an incredible place for our siblings and dearest friends as we celebrated our wedding. The property is very private, within the gates, each room expansive with gorgeous period furniture and a wonderful kitchen for cooking meals for everyone. The property is stunning at all stages of the day, and near several delicious restaurants. Francesca the host is warm and gracious, very clear communication and gives a thorough presentation of the house, property, and surrounding countryside. We picked figs in the morning when they were in season, and enjoyed long afternoons by the pool and on the outside property drinking wine and playing pingpong. The house is meticulously clean, and much much larger and more magical in person. It was a dream stay, and we look flrward to returning again some day soon.
A beautiful and grand house and garden
The house is well-maintained and is grand and spacious, with high ceilings and plenty of areas to relax and entertain. There is extensive outdoor space, beautiful gardens, outdoor eating areas, and a pool (unheated). The small village is quiet and has all the essentials. The owner is very available and can help with excursions, booking restaurants or arranging activities. The house is located in a mountainous region up twisty roads and so the view is beautiful, as is the surrounding countryside. It is about a 20-25minute drive to the nearest beaches, which are very pleasant and near wonderful sites such as Paestum. Note that there is a charge for electricity use.
House and garden are simply wonderful. And Francesca a very friendly and responsive host
Francesca was very responsive; ideal host.
House and garden are simply wonderful. The location is beautiful. Being up in the hills meant that it was just cool enough in the afternoons after days out sightseeing, perfect for swimming and sundowners. Loved it!
thank you for your wonderful review.
You will always be welcome!
I hope to see you again soon!
il Pilaccio nel Cilento
Beautiful Castle with perfect view
We had our wedding celebration at the gorgeous property and us and our guests loved our stay! Francheska was very helpful sweet and an amazing cook! Thank you for everything and I can’t wait to come back!
Special interest holidays:
Francesca, upon request, can organize cookery courses based on the recipes of Mediterranean diet, archaeological excursions with specialized guides, boat trips and nature walks.
You can explore many sandy beaches that are within a 15 minutes drive from the villa, enjoying the beauty of the Cilento coast with its smooth hills and charming green rocky shores.
Use of car is recommended.
The name of nearest airport is Capodichino, in Naples. It is 125 km far from Il Pilaccio nel Cilento.
You will find markets, butcher, baker and many other stores less than 500 meters away from the villa. Great restaurants are located within 3 km (about 1.8 miles). In Castellabate, 12 km (about 7.4 miles) from our villa, there is a very nice seafood restaurant with a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea.
Less than 5 km (about 3.1 miles) from the villa there is a literary cafe, with antiques and picture gallery, where you can admire many works and meet the artist and his Australian wife.
Besides the visits to archaeological sites and other historical and artistic wonders of the Cilento, there are many things to do: walks, bike or horse rides in over 180.000 hectares of National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano to discover pristine environments and a rich natural heritage.
Boat trips to Punta Licosa and the Marine Reserve in Castellabate, discovering numerous rocky coves and small beaches overlooked by majestic pine forests and large areas of Mediterranean scrub. The two concerts held at sunset on the water at Punta Licosa and dedicated to the mythical Leucosia after whom the island is named, are a must see.
Guided tours of the dairy farms of the plain of Paestum, knowing about the various stages in the processing and production of mozzarella di Bufala, with tasting of dairy products. You can also see the processing of leather, tanned with natural methods and buy accessories made by local craftsmen.
