About this property
7 bed, 3/4 bathroom Trullo with Pool., WiFi and Spectacular Views to sea
Trullo San Marco is a delightful, recently restored traditional trulli farmhouse with a private pool, sleeping 10 to 12 people in 7 bedrooms. A magical property with the most amazing views over open countryside to the sea, it is on the edge of the little village of San Marco and also near fascinating old towns with good restaurants and only 20 minutes from the sea. It is just 50 minutes drive from either Bari or Brindisi airports. Providing a perfect solution for a larger family or group, this seven coned trullo has as its main living room a large converted coach-house with a high barrel ceiling. It is spacious and well equipped with mod cons but also full of character with all the original features preserved. Best of all, this lovely villa, while surrounded by fields and olive groves with unspoilt views across countryside to the Adriatic, is only 5 minutes' walk from a small village shop where you can buy everything you need, including delicious local produce and fresh bread from a wood oven. Next door to the shop, opposite a medieval chapel, is an authentic little bar/cafe with snacks and ice creams at ridiculously cheap prices. Just by the chapel is a wine and olive oil outlet, with fabulous tastings/lunches that you can walk home from! Trullo San Marco is near the small town of Locorotondo (officially listed as 'one of the most beautiful in Italy' and Alex 'Secret Italy' Polizzi's favourite place in Puglia) and within short driving distance of many of Puglia's prettiest little hill towns like Cisternino, Ostuni, Martina Franca and the Trullo town of Alberobello. A 20 minute drive takes you to Savelletri, a charming fishing village that's a Summer celebrity magnet thanks to its 5+ star hotels.
You enter the house through the hall, which also has a door to a small bedroom with a double bed and a coned ceiling. On the right there is a large dining room/ living room with a high barrel vaulted ceiling . Off the sitting room is a large family suite of conical ceilinged rooms, The first of these is a large room with a single or pull out double bed. From this room, one door leads to large double bedroom and another door opens to a smaller bedroom with a single bed or pull out double bed. To the left of the entrance hall there is a coned double bedroom and a coned room with a double sofa bed. Each suite of rooms has access to its own fully equipped family bathroom, one of which has a walk-in shower and the other a bath with shower over. On the roof terrace there is a romantic double bedroom with en-suite, a/c and panoramic views to the sea. There is a terrace garden for outside dining under a pergola with a gape vine. Barbecue and pizza oven. Private 8m by 4m outside pool with solar cover and enclosed hot/cold shower. Plenty of sun loungers. All bed linen, table linen and towels etc included. Beach towels also included. Weekly cleaning and bed linen changing included.

About the host
Hosted by James Cutler

I've spent thirty years making TV documentaries and have travelled widely both for work and holidays. We have a large extended family of four generations and needed a holiday home where large groups of us from great-grandparents to small babies could all be comfortably accommodated.
Why they chose this property
When we decided to buy a holiday home we thought long and hard about all the lovely places we'd enjoyed visiting and Puglia - especially the Itria valley came out top. Beautiful countryside, fascinating old towns, every kind of beach, food and wine and friendly people - it ticks all the boxes.
What makes this property unique
We spent two years looking for the right property but fell in love with Trullo San Marco instantly. While it's a beautifully restored old trullo house with masses of character, it's also unusually spacious so that different family groups can spread out in their own parts of the house. The location is spectacular with views across olive groves and woodland to the sea. Even local people, who've lived in the village all their lives, have been known to exclaim "Mama Mia!" when they see the spectacular views from our roof terrace all the way to the Adriatic. Despite the tranquillity of the setting it's just a five minute walk to an authentic Puglian village with friendly neighbours, a wonderful well-stocked local shop, a little bar/cafe and a pharmacy. A little further away are excellent and ridiculously good value restaurants/pizzerias and a local wood fired bakery. In the heart of the village, in a little square with a medieval chapel, is a fantastic olive oil and wine outlet who offer highly entertaining tastings accompanied by delicious food , and it's just a few minutes walk back to the house!
