About this property

17th Century Farmhouse With Large Enclosed Garden In Tranquil Countryside

Set in the beautiful and unspoilt countryside of Lower Normandy, ‘L'Abri’ is perfect for those who are looking to get away from it all and yet want the convenience of local shops and services. Set in a small hamlet but only five minutes from the lovely town of Villedieu-les-Poêles and within striking distance of the ferry ports, Mont St. Michel, Bayeux and some of the best beaches in Normandy, the house is ideally located for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The house was built in the late 1600s and has been tastefully renovated in recent years. It has five bedrooms (and an additional loft room with futon) and can house up to 10 adults/children.

We are a family of five living in S E England. We fell in love with our Normandy holiday home on our first visit, have enjoyed staying in it, and would love to use the house to introduce others to this wonderful part of France.

Why they chose this property

Having enjoyed several holidays in the region, we chose this particular part of Normandy for the beauty of the countryside, the stunning beaches and for the rich history and cuisine. We also loved the wonderfully preserved nearby town, which felt authentically French. Being so easy to reach from the UK (just an hour from the Ferry) has also enabled us to rediscover holidays that are genuinely relaxing and hassle-free!

What makes this property unique

We love the freedom and space that the house provides - both inside and out. We also appreciate the great combination of a peaceful location and great access to bustling towns, beautiful beaches and wonderful historical sites. Experiencing many self-catering holidays over the years, we've come to discover and appreciate what makes a place a great holiday home. We hope you agree!
