About the host

About Ed and Carole:
We live in Ascot, Berkshire, with our two young children. Ed is a Regional Manager for a teaching recruitment company and Carole is a freelance Marketing Manager currently studying Interior Design as well (not to mention managing the kids!).
We loved travelling before we had the kids and enjoyed some pretty luxurious holidays in India, China, Mexico, Egypt and many European cities, to name but a few. Holidays these days are about relaxing as a family, de-stressing from our incredibly busy lives, eating well and getting some sunshine.

Why they chose this property
We bought the house in 2006 when we fell in love with Abruzzo the minute we landed! The pace of life is slow in the extreme and every time we visit we feel the stress of our busy UK lives falling away within about 10 minutes of driving down a mostly deserted motorway, tracking the coast line and taking us through the most amazing views of olives, vines and mountains.
We love the complete down to earthness of the local people, the amazing locally-grown food, house wine that's cheaper than bottled water and the amazing welcome we get as a whole family.
Pretty remote, you need a car and a good map (or sat nav!) to get around, but it really is worth it. The scenery is amazing, the beaches stunning, the villages unchanged for decades. This is a true rural Italian retreat.

What makes this property unique
The views, relaxing in the pool looking at the mountains which are sometimes snow capped. The pace of life and the rugged beautiful countryside. A short drive from endless beaches and mountain walking and biking on the summer and skiing in the winter. A total break from city life
