Before you read anything here, look at the first picture. It is the view of the North Fork of the New River in the front yard of The Cabin. When we are at The Cabin, we spend as much time as possible on our wonderful front porch- rocking, swinging, eating, roasting s’mores around the fire pit, chilling out in the hot tub, napping in the hammock, or waving at people drifting by in the beautiful New River. Or maybe we are the ones drifting down the river in tubes or kayaks ourselves! Inside, the rustic chandelier lights the cathedral ceiling and the beautiful wood floors, walls and ceilings. Our family enjoys the evenings listening to beautiful music and playing games with friends, but the wifi is available if we simply have to check emails or want to watch a movie. A fully stocked kitchen allows plenty of room to make a quick snack, or a family feast.
If eating outside is more your speed, in 2024 we expanded our covered porch area to have an outdoor kitchen with a blackstone grill, refrigerator, sink and cabinets. We also have a large beautiful outdoor dining room wood table that will seat 8-10 people. The entire porch has an outside sound system that will make your evening delightful. After the meal, enjoy some time in the 7 seat hot tub, or perhaps rocking chairs around the firepit. How you make your magical evening is up to you.
We enjoy going to the cabin year round, and the hot tub is warm all year round! Winter time in the hot tub is incredible, and running inside to sip hot chocolate by the fireplace makes the evening very romantic.
When it is time for bed, the master suite has a king bed with ensuite bathroom with a walk in shower. A second bathroom has a Jacuzzi bathtub to enjoy, and we recently added a half bath as well! The main level has three additional bedrooms. The front corner room offers another king bed, while the back corner bedroom has a queen bed and twin bed. The "App" room features our Appalachian State University decor with a queen bed. Back over the great room is a loft bedroom (open to great room). The ladder up to the loft is sturdy and an easy climb up to two more double beds. The kids always fight to see who gets to sleep in the loft.
When morning comes, everyone is ready to hit the river. The North Fork of the New River is literally in the front yard. The river is about 40 feet wide in front of the cabin, but only a few feet deep. For those wishing more adventure than fishing, swimming around and skipping rocks, tubing is always an option. If shopping is more your speed, West Jefferson and Jefferson are about a 15 minute drive. The Ashe County Cheese Factory, art galleries, fresco churches and shops are great fun. We even have a hard apple cider cidery nearby in Lansing. If hiking is more your speed, the possibilities in the area are endless.
Vacations are about making memories with the people you love. Our family has enjoyed The Cabin for many years, and now that we have renovated it, we enjoy sharing it with friends. If you are looking for a place to stay that is in the middle of nature, but has all the modern comforts and amenities, we think you will love the cabin. Over 100 10 out of 10 reviews agree. We look forward to sharing it with you.
