Lovely old property with more than enough room to accommodate our 11 family members.

Such a shame
House is really nicely laid out and decorated. The garden is large and well maintained with a great view over fields.
The location is good, with the lovely hope cove within walking distance.
The real shame was the house was not cleaned properly. This is not us being over fussy. The bedding had not been changed
before our visit, with hairs on pillows and the sheets smelling of sweat !! floors were dusty and the chairs stained.
Called the owner and left a message and emailed him but got no reply.

Great house for families to explore surrounding area
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Big house with great outdoors, superb beaches in the area and Hope Cove is only 1.5km walk away. The furniture and contents are ageing but generally well equipped.
The Old Parsonage is a great place for a family holiday with excellent and roomy accommodation, good access to local beaches and the bonus of a pool table which got good use. Our family ranged from two to eighty-two and all loved it.
The Old Parsonage is a great holiday house for an extended family group. It has plenty of room and isn't super-smart, so we weren't worried about young children damaging anything (not that they did!), but had all the facilities we could have wanted. Great location only a mile or so from Hope Cove, with other beaches and Salcombe in easy reach. Better for families than friends because of the unusual room arrangements (one bedroom is the other side of the main bathroom). Note that unfortunately towels are not provided and that parking is on the road outside. Andrew was very helpful and did everything possible to make our stay a success. A great week.
Lovely big house and was perfect for our family wedding party. Was located in a we'll know location for us, so was nice to find somewhere new to stay. The house had everything we needed, apart from the weather, but that's not the owners fault.
The feedback I have is given with the best intentions. The furniture in the lounge was was very uncomfortable and had seen better days. The bathroom and bedroom room layouts took some getting used to. You had to go through one bathroom in order to get into one of the double bedrooms considering we had so many adults that was a little tricky when deciding on who should use the bathroom first etc. This is not a complaint, but you need to plan ahead for the poor guests who get allocated that double room. The house itself is quite old, so don't expect 21st century fixtures and fittings. It's a very well used space and you can see areas that are beginning to show age. Take the furniture outside, we didn't use it as some of the rattan chairs are threadbare so didn't want to cause anymore damage.
Great place for a large party of people, and we will definitely be staying again in the future.

I felt the property was very run down and quite grubby in places
Overall we had a good holiday but the whole place could do with a make over and new sofas in the lounge - the place was very grubby. The bedroom downstairs has no storage either
I booked the Old Parsonage for a family holiday and gathering to reunite after lockdown. What was important and was wholly satisfied with this home is that we could relax in a comfortable environment, cook, eat food and drink while maximizing on our time together. Upon arriving at the Old Parsonage the first impression was this far exceeded our expectations. This home is spacious, comfortable, well equipped and we were immediately at home. On the Sunday we were joined by friends who lived close by and I cooked for 14 people without stress. The surrounding area is stunning. The cliff views and the cove is unpretentious and uncrowded. The cost was high for this time of the year, but worth every penny. Highly recommended.
Charming old house with 6 bedrooms. Our family party of 14 (6 young boys, their parents and grandparents) found plenty of space for dining and lounging indoors and out. The boys also enjoyed playing in the large rectangular garden. The house is conveniently close to Hope Cove and other good beaches. All the important facilities - cooker, hot water, fridges, wifi etc. worked well and we lacked nothing. Just some minor maintenance needed. 2 of the bedrooms are accessed via shared bathrooms, so your party will need to be comfortably familiar with each other. Parking is on the road but very easy. We all enjoyed our stay and would happily use the house again. The owner lives in the Caribbean but is readily available via email and is helpful and communicative.
Excellent house and garden, with lots of character, in a great location for walks to Hope Cove and surrounding area.
Bear in mind one bedroom has to be accessed via a bathroom.
A few things needed a tad of maintenance but not enough to impact our enjoyment and the host was quick to organise repair.
Remember to take towels including hand towels for the bathrooms and take some oven gloves - there aren’t any.
We had a wonderful time at The Old Parsonage. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for a gorgeous family break. My children said it was the best holiday house that we have stayed in. Praise indeed. Hope cove is gorgeous and we took a trip to Bigbury on Sea and Burgh Island as it is a family favourite. Thanks to Andrew and we hope to stay again. Gemma
The Old Parsonage is a special place, with so much personality and history. Impeccably kept and homily decorated, gives you a sense of being home the minute you walk in.
Andrew was very helpful (phoning in from the Dominican Republic to get us towels!) and the house was perfect for a large family in the time of covid.
Thank you!
Lovely property in a great location. Lots of space for everyone and great garden with incredible views.
We had one issue and the neighbour sorted immediately. Absolutely fantastic set up.
I would definitely stay here again
The Old Parsonage is a delightful, spacious house with cosy fires and comfort and close proximity to the coast. Everything about The O.P is appealing and lends itself to a large group having fun. The owner was helpful and kind and was prompt to respond to questions before and during our stay . He bent over backwards to ensure that our experience was enjoyable. It certainly was and we would love to return.
We had a relaxing family Christmas. The house was ideal with plenty of space for everyone without crowding. The pool table was a great hit with children and adults alike. The kitchen and dining area was ideal. Andrew was very responsive to emails. Overall a great holiday break

spacious
It is a very spacious hose .layout is not so great.
We enjoyed our stay due to the great weather and easy access to several local beaches. The house was a disappointment though especially given the price and other properties we’ve rented before. There are many snags already listed by previous holiday makers, plus no information/welcome, no bath mats or towels, not enough/poor hangers, blinds that don’t shut....We would return to the area but not to this house.
Lovely house and garden, perfect location, badly maintained
Dont know if my previous attempt got to you (not in sent items)
Andrew in S America, (but available by email). No property manager. Numerous maintainance problems. Towels and bathmats not there (he told us where key). Top bunk bed with no rail, child fell out. Main bedroom, some slats on bed broken. Fridge door dodgy but then fell off completely (found screw and mended) could have been v dangerous for children.. Downstairs loo not working till he sent plumber, 4 days in. Twin bedroom not nearly as in picture, one bare bulb from ceiling, no bedside lamps and 1 pillow only on each bed, looked very bare. Slatted blinds cheap and hopeless. No recycling. Downstairs bathroom extractor not working and no openable window. 3/4 lights not working in kitchen even though he sent man with bulbs. etc etc. All said, a truly lovely house and location and we had a wonderful time., but a lot of snags for an expensive house.
