About this property
Manor East Wing. Aveyron-Cantal. Stunning Views Over River Lot, Pool, Sleeps 6.
Set in a tranquil rural location, in the mid reaches of the Lot valley, on the boarders of Aveyron & Cantal this historic manor house sits above the meandering waters of the beautiful river lot with panoramic views across the wooded valley.
Blanadet is a 3 floor 16th Century Manor House surrounded by gardens. Vivian my wife and I live here full time and will always be able to help with any queries you have during your stay. The guest East Wing is a single floor accommodation on the first floor entered privately through the rear courtyard. It consists of 3 bedrooms all accessed off the external, covered balcony. The lounge, kitchen and dining area is opposite, also accessed off the balcony. The pictures show the 3 en suite rooms with showers. The guests also have sole use of the rear courtyard below, there is table seating and a BBQ here. As well as use of our private pool, which we also use from time to time. The table and chairs at the end of the pool and the decked area with sun loungers are for the sole use of our guests, we keep ourselves to the end by the pool room. Guests are welcome to use our fridge and the sink in the pool room. We also encourage you to take a walk around any part of our gardens, my wife and I strive to keep it flourishing. Please however note that there are outside stairs at Blanadet to reach both the pool and the accommodation, for this reason the property is not suitable for anyone with mobility impairments. We ask that children are accompanied around the pool at all times.
The house is situated above the hamlet of Le port, 5 minutes drive from the village of Vieillevie 5 miles west of the medieval village of Entraygues in the Aveyron department. This area is the most beautiful stretch of the lot valley.
Unspoiled by tourism, the region offers the mountains, gorges and valleys of the southern tip of the Cantal and Aveyron departments we have miles of designated footpaths abundant with flowers and wildlife, historic medieval villages such as Conques and Estaing; fine chateaux and the attractive towns of Rodez and Aurillac. The immediate area is a recognized center for walking and canoeing. Some walks lead direct from the house and Le port has its own canoe school . In summer fetes and spectacles are arranged locally.

Enjoyed the relaxing place, with nicely restored rooms on top of old typical house, surrounded by all sorts of plants and trees.
Very calm and refreshing, close to nature, including direct access to the river.
Last but not least, owners are very kind and welcoming people.
Malcolm and Vivian where very welcoming and helpful. The views are amazing and the location is very peaceful.
The house is beautiful and quirky, although if you like to cook for yourselves, the kitchen is a little short on utensils. We improvised! We had a problem with the cooker and Malcolm had it replaced the next day! We would definitely stay again.
Séjour parfait. Le lieu est très luxueux, calme, l’environnement exceptionnel, dans un splendide univers végétal. Malcolm a été un hôte très attentif à notre confort. Nous avons passée une merveilleuse semaine en famille dans un endroit magique.

It was a pleasure having the family staying at Blanadet and thank you for leaving things so clean and tiddy. We look forward to seeing you all again in the future

The property was as good as the last time we had stayed. Malcom and Viv made us very welcome and were very helpful without being intrusive. Turning up with an extra person to our party and a travel sick child they were great, even finding a teddy replacement while they washed the much loved toy while we settled into our accommodation. We had a lovely week making full use of the pool and the beautiful area around. Thank you once again.

A Month in the Manor...
We were lucky enough to spend 4 weeks in this perfectly tucked away medieval property. Not for the faint hearted, height wise, as you arrive on a single track road with a steep incline. Worth the worrying first drive up the 'hill' though, because the views are fabulous looking down over the river Lot. You really are in rural France at its best.
Malcolm and Viv were wonderful hosts, helping out in any way they could but managing to keep a discreet distance when appropriate. The pool is shared and Malcolm maintains it daily. There were plenty of loungers and seating areas with table and chairs. The tiered garden/grounds are a delight and with footpaths from the door the area is great for walking.
The entrance to the East Wing is behind their main entrance but it didn't concern us that we were in close proximity. The layout is extremely medieval with the huge, elegant bedrooms all entered via an outside covered balcony, which overlooked a delightful courtyard for our private use. The open plan kitchen living area was spotlessly clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. If I have any gripes to make then it was the lack of kitchen equipment for cooking but I managed to improvise...
We found some excellent restaurants: Le Belvedere (*) in Bazouls, Bras (***) in Laguiole. Locally, Hotel de La Terrace in Villevie and Quai West in Entraygues. There are so many small towns and villages in the area that are beautiful, it is hard to choose favourites. If you like medieval, rural France, plus incredible views everywhere you go, you won't be disappointed.
We loved our time here and would happily return.

Fantastic
A stunning place to stay, a charming house and a breath taking setting. We come every year with our children and always have a relaxing stay. Plenty of places to visit, some lovely restaurants and a very nice peaceful pool to relax around. The added bonus of mod cons with tv, wifi, washing machine and a bbq. The gardens are beautiful as are all of the rooms. We will continue to have our family holiday here, with a warm welcome from Malcom and Viv. Thank you for making us so welcome each year

A great place to stay for all the family.
The location was beautiful and very peaceful. The property was stunning, and lovely and cool even when the outside temperatures hit 38 degrees. The shower rooms which are not pictured are very modern and made our stay with a family of four girls a real luxury. The owners have put a lot of effort into making sure that your stay here is very comfortable and are on hand to help. We made good use of the pool which was very well maintained and had the beautiful back drop of the River Lot. This area has lots to offer all ages and our girls who range from 3 to 12 were equally impressed and entertained. From canoeing along the Lot, visiting Conques, sampling the various local produce at the farmers markets or just walking down to the donkeys we had a lovely holiday and will come again. Thank you Malcolm and Viv.

Lovely peaceful setting, very relaxing
Beautiful old house, with lovely bedrooms and gardens. Stunning views from bedrooms across the Lot valley. We were well looked after by the owners who live in the same property - we asked for a meal to be cooked for us on our first evening and it was wonderful. This is a very quiet rural area which really is away from it all, about 10km from the nearest small town of Entraygues. For visitors with small children, swimming pool has a very loud alarm in case of accidental falling in. Interesting places to visit include Conques and there are decent restaurants and a small supermarket and market in Entraygues. Would stay again.

Sublime
An absolutely idyllic setting. If you want to step back in time yet have most mod cons I couldn't recommend this place enough. The house and area are simply stunning. The surrounding medieval villages and towns of Conques and Estaing are nearby, steeped in history and a must to see. Canoeing and kayaking down the Lott rapids might offer a more exciting alternative for the young at heart, situated at the bottom of the hill, a stones throw from the house. The proprietors Vivienne and Malcolm, who live in the main wing of the house, are the most welcoming and informative hosts. They recommended fantastic local restaurants, (a must the burger bar in Entragyues) and activities and were kind and helpful in every way. The pool is perfect (it was VERY hot) as Malcolm has somehow managed to get the balance right in it being crystal clean without taking a layer of your skin off. Would definitely recommend this beautiful retreat, wish I was still there.

A beautiful tranquil hideaway
First impressions were very good, with a lovely combination of large traditionally furnished bedrooms linked by a balcony overlooking the private courtyard and leading to the kitchen / diner and lounge area. The house is situated 1km up the valley side overlooking the river Lot and the location is truly spectacular. We were greeted by Malcolm and Vivienne and were helped to unload the car by their grandson Matt. This warm welcome extended throughout our stay and we we made to feel truly welcome. The area was new to us and exceeded our expectations with a proliferation of castles and medieval villages locally.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a spectacular setting that we would highly recommend.

Excellent Holiday
A great family holiday with owners Malcolm and Vivienne. The property was very impressive and well kept - if anything the description doesn't do it justice. Our kids loved the pool which was very well looked after. The owners had lots of useful advice about the many local activities - Castles and canoeing were our favourites as well as cafe life. Bastille day was particularly impressive. Having never been to this part of France, we were delighted with how beautiful and unspoilt it was.

About the host
Hosted by malcolm lucas
We are a husband & wife team running the business and living in the West wing of Blanadet and from time to time get help from our family. Skipping though the years we have been in the holiday leisure industry since the early 70s, first in South Wales with holiday cottages letting, due to family reasons we relocated on the Thames with a small marina and a hire boat operation, early 90s we started a Beach Restaurant on the east coast, late 90s moved to France for a calmer life, began restoring holiday property for English owner and realized it would be a good time in our lives to run a B&B but now prefer to host self catering.
Why they chose this property
We purchased Blanadet Manior in the mid reaches of the Lot Valley about 25 year ago and started the renovation work. It has been a long road to get the property back to its original state, we have updated to modern standards and retained the original fabric and features. We enjoy living in the west wing of this huge house, the new self catering unit is our currant project, still get time to relax round our swimming pool and garden. Vivian is a keen gardener and raises most of the plants from seeds and cuttings in the green house, while Malcolm is kept busy with grounds & building maintenance. We both have an interest in cooking and spend many hour preparing meals for our guest's. Having lived in France for 25 year as you would expect we know most of the restaurants & places of interest.
