About this property
Self Contained Gite with lovely country views
La Cure is situated at the end of a 230metre lane off a quiet country road. It is surrounded by farm land containing many mature trees and the 'bocage' or 'banks' surrounding the fields for which this area is famous. It is ideal for a couple wanting to get away from it all and unwind. It is just 10 minutes from the popular market town of Gavray with its supermarket, shops, banks and restaurants. The cathedral town of Coutances and the copperware tourist town of Villedieu les Poeles can be reached in 20 mins. Perfectly situated for days out at the Mont St Michel, St Malo, Bayeux and D-Day Beaches etc.

About the host

Hi,
My wife, Mary and I, originally from Somerset, have retired to Normandy with our little collie cross, Nellie. We live on site and will be happy to provide as much or as little help as you require. So, if you know France and/or do not require any assistance during your stay we will extend a cheery wave and respect your privacy. If you are new to France or even travelling abroad for the first time we will be happy to provide all the support you need.

Why they chose this property
Prior to settling in Normandy we travelled extensively in Europe for several years in a motorhome. We made many friends and a lot of them had settled in this region of France. When we came to visit them we fell in love with the countryside. It is very similar to our home county of Somerset but much quieter with miles of near empty roads and beaches. We take the dog to the beach nearly every day, where she wears herself out galloping around the dunes and into the surf. The beach and salt marshes also offer bird watching opportunities and a chance to see race horses exercising. The farming of mussels and oysters can be seen from the dunes. With endless beaches and blue sea it is a wonderful place to take a picnic and relax for a few hours.
What makes this property unique
Although we are in a very rural situation, our house has fields on all four sides, you can be in several villages within minutes and a few large towns in 30 minutes, more or less, depending how fast you drive! Due to this rural aspect and lack of nearby lights we have a spectacular view of the sky at night. Bring your binoculars, sit in the garden after dark and be prepared to be amazed by the clear view of millions of stars and constellations.
