About this property
Spectacular Mountain Views and Large Pool With Spacious fully A/C Accommodation
This beautiful traditional Mallorcan stone Finca, located within a few minutes from the historic Old Town of Pollenca, provides an ideal holiday home for those wanting to relax and unwind but also remain close to the Old Town and everything it has to offer. In this way you can experience the joys of a semi-rural property without feeling too isolated from the town and local amenities.
The Mallorcan countryside surrounding the ancient town of Pollenca is stunningly beautiful and the town is a delight of intertwining cobbled streets to explore with quirky shops, cafes and restaurants and don't forget the bustling market on a Sunday. Also, climb the famous 365 Calvari steps from the square (Plaza Major) to the Chapel and behold the views from the very top!
The Finca was originally built over 200 years ago and is a typical traditional stone built house you see in this part of the island.
Historically the Finca was home to the Carob tree, which is typical of the dry regions of Mallorca, and the carob was used as feed for draught animals. The spelling of the name "Xocolater" comes from Catalan.
The garden has a range of trees which include orange, olive, fig, carob and grape vines. You enter the property through a gated entrance only 2 minutes drive from the Rotonda del Gallo.
The garden is green and lush with lots of colour from the different flowers that bloom during the spring and summer months. The water is supplied from the Fincas very own Well.
This picturesque Finca set in 3500m2 of countryside is surrounded by spectacular mountain views particularly the breathtaking Puig de Maria and the spacious lawned garden opens up to a wonderful 10m x 5m pool with sun loungers, poolside covered BBQ area and shower room/WC which is very convenient when around the pool. There is a poolside outdoor shower to freshen up before your swim and also Table Tennis and a Pool Table for fun and games.
The pool lights up at night for those who fancy a midnight swim! The lawned areas at the side of the pool provide somewhere for the children to play surrounded by lush vegetation, mature trees, traditional stone walls and of course those stunning mountains. Explore the grounds of the Finca and you will find cactus, palm trees and grape vines intertwining along the old goat pen walls.
The building itself is constructed from ancient local stone and really does have a rural feel to it. The area outside the front is terraced leading up to the sturdy, solid wood front door. There is plenty of parking space too. Shuttered Spanish-style windows and terracotta roof tiles add to the overall ambiance.
There are three terraces to choose from for authentic Mallorcan al fresco dining :
The Front Terrace with seating area to eat your breakfast offering "front row seat" views of the spectacular Puig de Maria mountain.
The Rear Terrace with a large farmhouse dining table seating up to 8 people for your lunch offering views across the pool to farmland and mountain ranges.
The roof terrace with seating area and loungers for early morning coffee or pre-dinner drinks to watch the sun set and spot Pollenca Old Town light up for evening festivities!
The Finca has spacious air conditioned rooms over two levels which are very comfortable with a mixture of rustic and modern furniture and plenty of different areas to find your own space.
Upon entering the Finca you find the traditional country kitchen includes a dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, coffee machine, large fridge/freezer providing chilled water and ice plus a farmhouse dining table seating up to 8 people.
There is also a separate utility room with washing machine located in the adjoining garage area of the Finca.
The lounge area has two large comfy sofas and traditional furniture, a new flat screen television and DVD player with a small collection of DVDs for both children and adults. For early and late in the season there is oil fired central heating and an open real fire. High speed Fibre WiFi is also available. There are some books and board games to enjoy during your stay.
All the bedrooms are on the first floor level and offer views to the surrounding gardens and countryside. There is one double room with a spacious en-suite bathroom and a second double with two twin rooms share the family bathroom with a further shower room and WC on the ground floor. All bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and dressing tables. Two of the bedrooms have direct access out onto the spectacular roof terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee, then sunbathe with those glorious mountain views!
The property is gated and fenced around the perimeter providing security and peace of mind for those traveling with children and there is a cot and high chair available if required.
For those in pursuit of an active holiday, such as cycling, kite surfing etc there is a large garage area for storage of equipment and bicycles and the Finca is only a 10 minute drive to the beaches of Puerto Pollenca and Cala San Vicente. Pollenca Golf Club is located 5 minutes away or hire a boat and explore the coves!
The two local supermarkets are only a 5 minute drive away. Also visit the local vineyard at Ca'n Vidalet, only minutes away, to sample their wines and bring some bottles back to the Finca to drink on the terrace!
Finca Can Xocolater has everything you need for that perfect relaxing family holiday in the Mallorcan sunshine.

About the host
Hosted by Jane

In 2012, when our daughter was 2 and our son 6 months, we rented a villa near Pollenca. We absolutely fell in love with this part of the island and were determined to make this our second home! Our children adore the many beautiful beaches. One of the highlights of their stay is climbing the Puig de Maria and feeding the mountain goats as we lunch in the cafe at the Church on the very top! There is so much to do in Mallorca we still have a vast itinerary of places and activities we are yet to sample. Some activities of course will be a constant such as the white sand and turquoise sea at Playa de Muro and the boat trips which take you to the best snorkelling locations.
Why they chose this property
We set about our search for a property having decided that the district of Pollenca is where we definitely wanted to be. The lure of the Old Town is compelling and once experienced never forgotten. The history and ambience of this historic town is breathtaking.
We had a picture in our heads of the perfect traditional stone Finca and crossed our fingers and dared to hope that we could find such a property. We started our search in 2014 and returned again in 2015 to find our dream Mallorcan home. We were very lucky to find Finca Can Xocolater and its beauty is evident from the moment you turn into its driveway and witness the views of the mountains all around you.

What makes this property unique
Some of the Fincas we have rented in the past around Pollenca, although always beautiful, sometimes feel very remote and quite isolated. This sometimes made me feel uneasy and you could never just "pop" to the shops as you first had to navigate along some very narrow and rough tracks for several miles.
The beauty of Finca Can Xocolater is that not only is it a rural home, with all the space and beautiful views this offers, but it is also within a stones throw of Pollenca Old Town. This in essence gives you the best of both worlds and is very handy with a young family.
