We had the most incredible stay at this amazing property and can't stop raving about how gorgeous it is - stunning architecture and design, perfect & peaceful setting with picturesque views, and truly unforgettable. The host owners are fantastic; great communication, very thorough information provided before our visit and so welcoming when we arrived.
This place was hard to leave. We are still reminiscing about our stay at the villa. The hosts prepared a pdf that was beyond words and helped the ease of stay. The house easily accommodated three couples very comfortably. We appreciated the food that was here when we arrived late in the evening and had something for breakfast the next morning. The views are breathtaking and the aroma of plants and flowers mixed w the sea is unreal. We had a taxi driver recommended in the pdf and we got to know well going above and beyond. We also had the chef come and cook a gourmet meal after the marathon that was outstanding. You must come and experience this for yourself. We could talk about this place for hours
This property is fantastic in so many ways. The kitchen is completely stocked. It is great for preparing family meals. The gas grill came with two full propane tanks. You can order your groceries, including great wine, from the My Market and they will deliver them to the house. You can walk to the beach easily and enjoy 2-3 restaurants on the beach. Socratis was an extremely kind and helpful host. We had never been to Greece before, and did not know much about how to get around. He helped us navigate Taxi's, a trip to Poseidon's temple. and investigate local wineries. If you are interested in the wineries, you have to make a reservation ahead of time. We did not get to go because there were no openings left for the week. The house has a wonderful pool to enjoy, board games, cards, and wonderful places to sit and read. The view is absolutely amazing. The bathrooms were slightly inconvenient with all the bedrooms except one having to share the upstairs bathroom. However, the house is so spectacular and the location so amazing that the bathroom situation does not ultimately matter much. If you are traveling before June, just know that some restaurants are not open yet and the water is still pretty chilly.

Thank you, Kelley. Was a pleasure to host you and thank you for being communicative of your needs. We are glad we could help so you could enjoy the stay. There are 3 bathrooms in the house but no en-suite ones, true, that was not that common back then, when it was designed as a family house in 70s by an awarded architectural couple. But as you say, this does not prevent people from enjoying the house, the balcony, the pool and the large open communal spaces. Glad to have you back, like many of our guests do, anytime.
Just returned from an amazing stay here. The villa exceeded all expectations. Stunning place and so spacious for 3 families. Location also perfect with a couple of tavernas very close by. Would both recommend and return
We all had a wonderful time at Socratis' stunning villa. There was everything we could have needed, the kitchen was so complete. Our hosts had even left us fresh vegetables and tomatoes straight from the garden. We were invited to make use of the fresh herb garden for our cooking. On top of all that, Socratis was incredibly easy to get hold of and was incredibly accommodating. All of our group had such a fantastic time we were sad to have to leave.

Fabulous villa in rural location
Socrates was brilliant at communicating over booking of his villa. It is their ancestral home and very well looked after with beautiful furnishings and gardens. The maid who came twice during the week is brilliant and ensured we had no problems. The view from the terrace is spectacular across the bay and lovely to sit on to watch the sunset. We arrived on a Sunday and as local shops were closed the owners had left us a comprehensive starter pack which was amazing! We teamed this with a trip to Athens which was also fantastic and less than an hour away. We also visited Poseidon's temple which was well worth the short drive. The local tavernas are mainly fish based- but amazing fresh fish!

Thank you for your nice comments. It was a pleasure to have you as guests. Right from the start you made your special requests and questions easy to address. All of your group paid attention to the house rules on the first day and kept to them during the stay. The group was very tidy, clean (despite the increased number of teenagers!) and very well behaved. Hope to host you in the future.

Perfect villa for a bigger group
Our group of 6 adults + 9 kids enjoyed a lovely week in Daskalio. The villa fulfilled and exceeded our expectations with nice and personal architecture, excellent views and a couple of good tavernas in walking distance. Our wishes regarding baby bed and high chair were considered, and the welcome was very friendly. The owner had a contact to a local chef, who then came to cook for us one night.
Villa Daskaleio can be highly recommended in all aspects.

Idyllic, relaxing family getaway
The villa was truly stunning, with beautiful ocean views, a wonderful pool area, and lovely furnishings. The owners had thoughtfully stocked the kitchen with enough basics that we didn't even have to go out for groceries the first evening or morning in the house—made us feel so at home! The house is kept very clean and the AC made us very comfortable, even in the heat of summer. We hope to return again and again.

Simply put: Great
As stated by previous commentators, this villa is quite special. An architectonic gem from its time with many beautiful design details and quite different from other houses in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
The villa is in a beautiful setting and was perfect for our group (2 families with 3 children each). We have rented together for many years in France and Spain, and each year there is some anxiety whether the reality matches what was communicated online, but in the case of Villa Daskleio it is really as good as it sounds/looks in the reviews or even better.
Great pool area in constant use by the kids, but also very accessible and enjoyable ocean swimming via the rocky beach right below the house.
Fantastic terrace with breathtaking views great for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Overall very well equipped house. Socratis and Laertis took great care of us - we did not miss anything.
The area is quiet, but we spent most time at the house. Cap Sounio was a great excursion - try combining the visit to the temple with a beachfront lunch at the Grecotel Resort.
We would highly recommend Villa Daskleio.

wonderful place with perfect view
It is a wonderful house with lots of space (in- and outside). A bit of 50' style - lovely decorated.
We stayed here with 3 generations (from 1 year to almost 70 years) and it was great. The pool is separated with a fence (the terrasse is a bit tricky for very young kids, but it worked well with ours) and the tennis and basketball court was great fun for young and old.
The view on the terrasse and balcony could not be better.
For nice beaches we went to the west coast (30 min drive).

We are very happy that you enjoyed your visit and your stay at the villa, and it was a sincere pleasure for us to host you and your group. There is a rocky-sea beneath the villa with a couple of paths which lead to water easily, so everyone can enjoy the clear waters and the snorkelling opportunities. The small sand-pebble beaches close to the house follow the typical Mediterranean undulating coastline, a characteristic of east Attica. Apart from the views it offers, this also has its benefits as it contributes to the fact that in the summer they do not get that crowded, as more popular beaches. However, as you mention, if you are willing to take the car, you will find some excellent sandy beaches along the coast. Some of these beaches have been voted the best beaches in Attica (Sounio, Legrena etc). It was a pleasure having you, and I hope to hear from you again soon!

Even better than in pics
The house is fantastic and the owners are most helpful and friendly. Comparing to numerous other houses we have rented in the past, the condition of the property was excellent. No broken little things or such at all.
When we arrived in the late evening, the owners had done some basic shopping for us. What a great start.
During the off-season time the village was dead, but we did not mind it at all. Instead we visited Athens. The sea is there for you to swim and snorkle. Only thing that is good to be aware of is the owners cats and dogs who visit you every now and then. We did not mind it, but I could imagine somebody could.
Distance to airport is also a benefit.
All in all the house is highly recommendable and we are considering getting back to the same house.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for the nice and detailed review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay. The house location allows being year-round away from it all, while still being close to Athens to enjoy what it offers.
Regarding the pets. Thank you for pointing this out. Although, the presence of our dog (always fenced), well behaved cats, and turtles (also fenced) are mentioned in the information guide and contract we send to guests, somehow they did not show up in the property description since the last website upgrade. We have corrected this and will point it out to future guests.
Looking forward to receiving in the future.

Perfect
The most wonderful, interesting villa offering all you could possibly need for a relaxing, peaceful break. We were a family of 10 from 2-83 years and would say a car is essential for sightseeing. Daskaleio is the perfect place to get away from the daily pressures and just appreciate the stunning location, great company and freshest of local produce...the delicious homemade jams and over 100 different varieties of basil growing in the garden. The most helpful of hosts...huge thanks to Liza, Sokratis and Laertes. The happiest of memories which we will hopefully relive on a return visit. Thank you

Dear Lisa,
Thank you for the very personal review.
We are happy you had a pleasant stay at the house. October is a very nice month to travel to Greece as the weather is still nice (with the exception of the occasional rain of course) and the sea is still warm. As you mention a car is necessary for people that want to move around and go sightseeing although we have had guests that they have not moved from the house for a week (maybe to go shopping once or twice). It is true that our mum loves basil (the "king" of herbs literally) and we love the pesto she makes for all of us. I hope you enjoyed it too.
Hope to see you again in the future.

Fantastic!!!
The Villa meet all the expectations we had and are even more beautiful in reality than on the pictures shown.
The house/interior is fantastic and very well planned. We were 13 persons and it never felt crowded.
The evenings we spent on the large terrace with wonderful view over the sea.
The pool area is absolutely fantastic and the garden around it as well. The kids just loved it.
The owners ,Sokratis and Laertis has been very helpful from the first request and served us with all information we asked for. Very smooth and trustful.
We also had a warm welcome from Laertis who guided us around the area/house and also served us with food, snacks and fantastic marmalade made from his mother.
We wish we could have stayed longer at Villa Daskaleio ....
We warmly recommend this wonderful place

Idyllic!
We cannot recommend this property highly enough - we just can't fault it in anyway! The kids thought it was like something out of a movie! It was absolutely stunning and the photos don't do it justice, you cannot show the size and beauty and atmosphere in a picture, you have to see for yourself! The property was decorated very tastefully with rustic charm and had every amenity to make you feel right at home. The view was simply breathtaking, and sitting out on the veranda first thing in the morning and last thing at night would never get old, it was magical! The gardens and the pool were immaculate and very picturesque, you can tell its a home that's been cared for and loved for years.
Everything was thought of from lots of beach towels, washing powder so we didn't have to buy any for our mountains of washing (there was 11 of us) a lovely welcome pack of food, homemade pesto and delicious jams that we're still eating at home…everything was thought of to make our stay as comfortable as possible and it went a long way to making it the best holiday in years.
The booking process was so easy right from the start and there was no hassle in whatever dates required or silly questions asked; Sokratis was so friendly and answered them quickly. when we arrived nothing was too much trouble for Laertes and it was much appreciated, he made the trip so much less stressful - thank you so much for everything you did and for making our holiday such a memorable one!

Perfect villa for a relaxing holiday
Well, we needed a relaxing location break for the family to recharge together and that is exactly what we got. With adult offspring flying in from different parts of Europe, it was so easy and convenient to be able to reach the beautiful location of Villa Daskaleio. and immediately feel at home, open a Mythos and drink in the view!
Laertes greeted us warmly on our arrival, gave us a conducted tour including the extensive collection of homemade preserves and even guided us to the supermarket in Keratea.
The villa, pool, sun terrace and gardens were excellent and perfect for our needs. The information booklet was most helpful, particularly in respect of the tavernas.
Thank you, we wish we were there now!

Response from VrboOwner on 21 Mar 2020
Dear Paul,
Thank for taking the time to write this nice review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and took advantage of what the house has to offer: a large terrace, a spectacular view, the gardens and of course the pool and sea right below the house.
Our guidebook summarises 40 years of experience living in the area (many taverna owners have changed over the years but we are still there!). Guests, though, often contribute to our guide something new and exciting they discovered in the area.
Preserves are our mother's speciality and she makes them with lot's of love. A typical greek tradition is indeed to offer sweets to invited or unexpected guests. So we also like to offer a "sweet memory" of Daskaleio to our guests.
Looking forward to receiving you again in the future.

An amazing week in Daskaleio
We had a great week staying at your house. The sea scene is amazing. The photos in the web site give an excellent description of the property. We could sit the whole day long and only stare at the sea. When we arrived Sokratis brother, Laertis welcomed us. The house included everything one can think about, including all the necessary groceries for the first day. Both Sokratis and Laertis were very helpful and responsive with great travelling suggestion. The sport options like swimming in the sea or at the pool, playing basketball, tennis & table tennis even in the evening upgrade the house and our vacation. To summarize, a great vacation in a beautiful house with great hosts and high return for our money. Thank you Sokratis & Laertis for turning this week to an amazing one.

Dear Luc,
Thank you for your very nice review. It was a pleasure having your family and friends for your special annual get together. We are really happy that you had a positive experience and really enjoyed the house, the terrace and the pool. You also had the pleasure to get the August full moon dates, seeing it rising from the sea while sitting on the terrace. Despite being full season in August, the area is more quiet compared to other areas in Attica so you could still get the sea for yourselves. You have greetings from Litsa and Spyros, our local tavernas, and of course all our family! Until next time, our best regards to you all.

we had an offsite at the villa for 5 days. it is a gorgeous house, built in the 70s and cared for since extremely well. we were extremely well taken care of by sokratis, his brother, his mother and father were extremely gracious and hospitable - we could have easily stayed another 10 days. highlights - the tasteful furnishings, v grand, diving into the crystal blue sea at least 2 to 3 times a day, just under the house.. house was large enough to accomodate the 7 of us, yet, we were able to find our own private space within.

Amazing villa!
It was my first holiday home rental and I must say it exceeded my expectations by far. The owners were very friendly and extremely helpful both before and during our stay. We were in a group of 3 families with 7 children aged 3-10 and the villa provided comfortable accomodation for all. Due to the weather we stayed indoors for a couple of days and the floor plan allowed everyone to enjoy themselves. When it was sunny we could sit on the terrace and enjoy a fantastic view of the bay below us. I'd love to return to Villa Daskaleio in the summer.

Response from VrboOwner on 16 May 2020
It was a real pleasure having Karol and his family and friends stay at our house during the holiday season. We love having such guests. We have travelled a lot ourselves and we try to make our guests' stay as enjoyable as possible so they can savor what the house and its surroundings have to offer. Nice views, plenty of space and all the facilities so you do not have to leave the villa. Even though the weather in winter may restrict outdoor activities, the spacious living room, a sofa for everyone and the cosy atmosphere next to the large fireplace, more than make up for staying indoors. Perfect for a get together to catch up, eating greek homemade delicacies and enjoying each other's company.
Karol, thanks again for choosing our house for your stay and hope to see you again soon!
About the host
Hosted by Spyridon Laertis
We are a big international family distributed all over the world. We love travelling, however, what we enjoy most is when we can get all together at this house to enjoy family life: kids running around, a glass of ouzo and some homemade mezedes (with vegetables grown in our own garden) in hand, enjoying the view of the sea.
We like meeting new people and guests are always welcomed in our house. We will do all that we possibly can to ensure an enjoyable stay for you so that afterwards you can say the same.
Why they chose this property
The stunning, stone and wood villa, nestled on the seaside slopes, was constructed in the early 70’s. One can immediately see the love and attention put in every detail by my parents and their architect friends. The house itself is decorated with authentic antiques that give it its special character. It is located in a small very picturesque bay that offers excellent views over the Aegean Sea. The property located at the end of the road, assures utmost discretion and tranquillity for any ideal vacation close to Athens.
What makes this property unique
The house with a 7 m vaulted ceiling benefits from a large interior communal areas connected to outside terraces is the ideal place to relax after a day at the seaside. The exposure to sunrise and sunset provides exceptional light and perspective. What makes this property actually unique is its front terrace. I love watching the moon rising directly from the sea in front of the house or being able to see the Greek islands in the horizon in the morning. I prefer the rocky quiet beach right below the property but if one wishes there are 2 sandy beaches, at about 10-15 minute walk. On the way one can enjoy fresh fish and other mezedes in one of the tavernas next to the sea. What more can one ask for so close to Athens?
