A lovely 2 nights in the perfect little beach side home. Was a little warm with no fans etc but can’t complain when you have the doors open to a beautiful beach. Neighbours were super friendly area was perfect.
Lovely location and beautiful cabin, with all the facilities you need - backing onto the beach.Great support and communication from the host.Overall we had a great stay, but the neighbours played loud music until well after 3am on our last night and it did impact our time there. Not a fault of the host. No other reviews mention this - so might have just been our bad luck to have 2 nights of music.
We had a wonderful stay in Beach Retreat - the perfect escape from London life and truly memorable experience. The house was cosy and the view amazing. We loved sitting out on the decking and even had a swim in the sea at the end of the garden! Thank you Melinda for being very accommodating with our children and allowing us to check in early.
Fabulous, peaceful location. Everything in the accommodation was perfect.

A beautiful bungalow right by the seafront with stunning views over the sea to watch the birds and nature go by. The bungalow has everything you need to spend a relaxing stay. It was the right size for my partner and I and our 11 yo son. Melinda was very responsive and accommodating. Highly recommended!
We stayed 7 days, and I swam 6 of those days. The other day we rode our bikes almost to Reculver Bay and so had no energy for a swim! Beach Retreat is the most beautiful chalet and we loved every minute, especially the twice daily visit from the sea as it tapped the bottom of the gorgeous wild sea garden. We walked both directions on the beach, as well as the marshes across the road. We ate most meals on the deck - at least breakfast and dinner - and seeing both sunrise and sunset from that deck was pretty special. We had a very hot week and definitely made the most of it. Special thanks to Melinda for making our holiday one not to be forgotten!
From the moment we arrived we knew we would be booking again in the near future. From the beautiful, cosy chalet to a location to die for (sand, sea and endless sky to the front and a nature reserve behind) it was everything we wished for.
This tasteful and well appointed chalet with great facilities is very close to the seafront, which you reach through a nice back garden. Swimming here was great as the shelf is quite steep so you get a good amount of time either side of high tide. The place itself is a pleasure to stay in and we can't wait to come again.
Amazing place, superbly clean with everything we needed. Outstanding view, we will definitely be booking again. Host was really friendly and info we required was supplied.

What a fabulous beachfront cottage! We were there for a week and enjoyed every minute. To watch the sun rise at one end of the horizon and set at the other with an uninterrupted view is truly superb. The cottage is well equipped and in an excellent location. Whitstable is only a 5 minutes drive. If you want to eat at the nearby Sportsmans restaurant, book well in advance though as it is Michelin starred and very popular with the DFL!
A fabulously relaxing stay in a little gem of a chalet, right next time the sea. Looking forward to returning next year, already rebooked! Thanks Melinda x
Lovely beach hut. Much more spacious than it looks in the photos. Very well equipped, extremely comfortable bed. And best of all the view is fantastic. We could sit there for hours just watching the water and the boats. Very relaxing.

About the host
Hosted by Melinda Barry
I love to escape the bustle of everyday life and spend time by the sea. I live just a few miles from Beach Retreat so I'm always on hand to offer my guests any assistance they need or provide local information! For direct bookings please email me, beachretreat@btinternet.com.
Why they chose this property
Beach Retreat is my dream house by the sea which I bought a few years ago. It's my pleasure to make it available to my guests, many of them regulars, who love this spot as much as I do. All rental income has been put into improving the property, most recently with a beautiful new kitchen area.
What makes this property unique
Beach Retreat is remote and peaceful, yet not isolated. Convenient shops in the village of Seasalter are within walking distance; Whitstable with its working harbour, boutique shops and restaurants is 5 minutes drive, or a pleasant 45 minute walk around the bay. Birdwatchers need hardly leave the house, just wait for the seabirds to arrive at low tide! But Swale Nature Reserve is just down the beach, and Oare Marshes Reserve, with trails and hides for birdwatchers, is a few miles away near Faversham. For a unique local gourmet experience, try The Sportsman down the road - but you will need to book in advance!
