Sleeps 10, 4 bedroom house with separate courtyard and pool, I in the heart of a wine growing village in the Corbières, just 25 mns from the stunning Mediterranean coast. Maison de la Fontaine is ideally suited to family holidays. You will enjoy a holiday with all the comforts of home. There are 3 double bedrooms, 2 of which are en suite. Another bedroom has 2 single beds and bunk beds. There is an outdoor cooking area, complete with a BBQ, pizza oven, a hob and a fridge. The surrounding region is of historical value with its own micro climate, enjoying 300 days of sunshine annually, benefiting from long hot summers and the most amazing star filled sky. Vineyards and medieval castles characterize the landscape whilst the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are a short drive away. The village has an award winning Cave Cooperative so a visit is a must to sample some of the best local wine. The property is located in the village of Embres et Castelmaure, which is reputed for its wine. There is daily bread delivery. Also, various local produce is sold (meat, locally grown organic fruit and vegetables and the most amazing peaches you’re likely to taste). For all other amenities, Durban is 7kms away. Check in is after 16.00 and check out is no later than 10.00

Super séjour

Très agréable séjour à Embres et Castelmaure. Hôtes très accueillant, souriants.... Village et alentours charmants, pour visites et randonnées. Coin piscine, cuisine d'été...au top!

Eine sehr schöne und ruhige Ferienwohnung mit tollem Poolbereich

Wir haben uns sehr gut erholt 4 Erwachsene und 4 Kinder ! Eine sehr nette und hilfsbereite Gastgeberfamilie. In der Wohnung war alles vorhanden; ob in der Küche oder im Schlafbereich selbst im Aussenbereich konnten wir die Wäsche waschen und trocknen. Für die großen Kinder war das WLAN wichtig und für uns alle der Grillplatz, Pizzaofen und der große Tisch unter den Weinreben. Die Kleinen konnte man fast nicht aus dem Pool bringen. Tollen - Morgens bis Abends. Wir werde wiederkommen und empfehle die geräumige Ferienwohnung an all die Erholung und Poolspaß suchen weiter.

Französisches Ferienhaus mit Charme

wir haben unsere zwei Wochen mit 4 Erwachsenen und 5 Kinder sehr genossen. Der Ort liegt wunderbar eingebettet in Weinberge und die Cave cooperativ ist ein Goldschatz im Ort. Unbedingt den Wein probieren und einen Abend mit Tapas dort verbringen. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Fabulous Property

We had a lovely stay with Dominique. The house itself is beautifully decorated and tiled throughout. We loved the décor and Dominique's taste and personal touches were evident. The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed. The bedrooms were large and airy. The private pool and outdoor dining space was great. The property suited our 2 families perfectly as we had 5 kids between us and the pool really helped to keep them entertained. The quiet location of the house was good and it is situated in a small village. There was ample parking and the surrounding countryside offered good opportunities for exploring. Dominique was there to help out and answer any questions we had during our stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to another family with kids.

Bonjour et bienvenue à Maison de la Fontaine, my name is Dominique and together with my husband Peter I own this lovely home in the Languedoc. We first fell in love with the area when we met there over 37 years ago. Back then, we were young, picking grapes in the Corbières hills. Being a teacher, I am fortunate to be able to go back to my roots many times throughout the year, enjoying the delights each season brings in this magical part of the world. We have thoroughly enjoyed looking after our guests the last few summers and have met lovely people who were very kind in their comments about Maison de la Fontaine. We like to keep a low profile but are always on hand if needed. Peter is a keen cyclist and knows the area well so he is available for advice/maps.

Why they chose this property

We bought the property 17 years ago as the fulfillment of a dream to have a home in the South of France. We fell in love and married in Corbières and throughout the years, the area has lost none of its idyllic charm. The peace and quality of life, the beautiful climate and the stunning landscape were compelling attractions as was the proximity of the coast. The Aude is the ideal holiday location, it has everything from beautiful beaches to Cathar castles to explore, wine caves where you can sample the produce of this fascinating region. There is a superb variety of leisure facilities: walking and cycling paths on the doorstep, the sun drenched beaches 30 mins away offering all watersports, and for the more adventurous, paragliding, gorge walking and rock climbing.

What makes this property unique

Maison de la Fontaine is located at the heart of the village but it is still peaceful. We have made many friends over the years and love to be there to enjoy the easy way of life and the guaranteed sunshine. The village, although small, is vibrant in the summer with many social events such as the annual paella, evening walks, art exhibitions. The Cave Cooperative has an excellent reputation and wine tasting can be enjoyed every day. There is a Tapas bar in the evenings. Make sure you reserve a place as it gets fully booked throughout the summer! If you fancy a walk, you only need to step out of the house and you are in beautiful countryside with wonderful smells of wild rosemary, thyme and lavender. The beaches are a half hour drive away along very peaceful roads, no chance of getting stuck in a traffic jam! I love sitting with a glass of wine late at night admiring the amazing shooting stars.
